âHave you made the arrangements?â Hayden looked puzzled, âWhere, at the hotel?â.
In fact, she would prefer to stay directly at the hotel. After all, the hotel had staff quarters and it would be very convenient to stay there.
âYou can forget about staying at the hotel.â Joseph dismissed her idea outright, âThereâs no room.â
âOh, no more rooms available? But when I counted them, there were stillâ¦â.
âGet in the car.â
Before Hayden could finish her sentence, Joseph had already put her in the car and ordered the chauffeur to drive. The car drove straight to the gate of the Imperial Village. She had only stayed home for a day, and already she was here again.
Hayden forced a smile, âMr. Beckham, donât tell me this is where youâve arranged for me to stay. This isnât it, is it?â.
âThis is it.â
The maids were already deftly moving the luggage into the house. Hayden tried to stop them, but couldnât.
âI donât think itâs right for me to stay here.â
âThere are plenty of extra rooms here, thereâs room enough for you, there will also be a car to take Stella to and from school. Besides, this place isnât far from where you work.â Joseph looked at her.
âI wonât let you stay for free. Youâll have to make breakfast during the week. On weekends, youâll have to prepare three meals a day, since Noah likes to eat the food you prepare.â
This seemed like a fair and equitable statement, in which Hayden could find nothing wrong. The cooks at Josephâs house were paid monthly and were provided with food and lodging. Therefore, he was not being taken advantage of because he was cooking in exchange for the lodging.
â Okay, but Iâll move again when everything is settled.â
Joseph nodded his head with no expression on his face, â Come on in.â
The maid led Hayden into the room next to the master bedroom. Originally, this room was just an ordinary room, in which Hayden had stayed before. However, this time it had changed quite a bit because there were more decorations in it and the dressing table was filled with all kinds of expensive cosmetics. But what surprised Hayden the most was that there was also a husky stuffed animal placed on the bed.
âI guess this is ready for Stella. Thank you.â
The maid replied respectfully. âMiss Stella has her own room. The young master said she might come back late from working overtime and it would be inconvenient to share a room with Miss Stella, so this room is just for you, and this stuffed animal is for you.â
Hayden hadnât expected Joseph to make this kind of arrangement. She felt warmth in her heart when she thought about it. She shook the stuffed animal and smiled. âHow could this be for me, Iâm not a child anymore.â
âI thought it was because youâre not used to sleeping alone.â The maid looked quite young, she looked like a young girl who hasnât reached her twenties. She was very shy and became nervous when she heard the question, âThere are lots of toys here, so I took one at random and placed it here. I didnât know if she would like it. Iâll take it now.â
âItâs okay.â Hayden hastened to explain, âDonât be nervous, I didnât say I donât like it.â
Only then did the maid let out a sigh of relief.
Hayden stared at the husky for quite a while and suddenly let out a laugh, âThis husky looks rather like your young master, it always seems like everyone has offended him, doesnât it?â.
âOh?â The young woman was taken aback. It was the first time she had ever heard anyone compare the young master to a dog. âI⦠I donât know.â
The young maidâs reaction was so serious and shy. This made Hayden feel helpless about it, thinking it was because the maid had been lectured by Joseph to make her act like that. So he stopped teasing her and let her go after asking her a couple of questions, so he learned that the maidâs name was Emma.
Hayden walked around the inside of the room, looking at the new purple curtains, which were recently changed. She smiled in satisfaction because it seemed to her that the decorating style of Josephâs house was quite good.
On the other hand, Freddie had been staying at the N City East District branch of the ST Hotel. Joseph wished to send him as far away from the city center as possible.
Freddie entered the hotel and listened to Magnus, Josephâs assistant, tell him some of what Joseph had ordered. When Magnus finished, Freddie was so angry that he picked up Magnusâ phone and called Joseph.
âJoseph, youâre so clever! You really tricked me by luring me into having Hayden stay at your house.â
Joseph held the phone farther away from his ear to keep his eardrums from bursting, and said only, âYouâre overthinking it. Based on todayâs situation, you had no choice but to leave first.â
âDo you think Iâm stupid? The reporter arrived ten minutes ago, and youâve already arranged everything, including the people and the hotel. Be honest, did you inform the reporter that I was at Haydenâs?â
A flash of interest crossed Josephâs eyes. This guy was pretty smart to figure out his tricks so quickly.
Freddie got no response from the other end of the line and at that moment, silence confirmed to him that it was the truth. He immediately raised his voice and told him, âYou sly little fox! Youâre a scoundrel, you have no scruples! I guess your family didnât know about this! You are shameless to deceive Hayden, who is so innocent and naive.â
Joseph, who had never been scolded like this before, was surprisingly not angry at all. He corrected Freddie earnestly, âShe doesnât seem to have anything to do with innocence.â
Rumors of Haydenâs smart and sassy behavior at the hotel had reached the ears of the groupâs headquarters. She was definitely not as simple and innocent as she seemed. Since assuming her position, she had never been treated kindly by the people around her. Moreover, she had now been entrusted with important responsibilities, which were not something someone soft and innocent could handle.
âYouâre right, sheâs not that innocent at all!â. Freddie suddenly changed his perception and said excitedly, âSheâs particularly cunning, she could double-cross you and sell your house before you could stop her. So, get her out of your house right now!â.
The corners of Josephâs lips twitched. It was the first time he had met a person like Freddie. He wondered why the people around Hayden were so talented. She had a best friend who could beat Kevin to within an inch of his life with her bare hands. She also had a friend who treated her like a sister, who acted flirtatious, scolded people fiercely and also threatened. He can do anything to protect her.
âI only let her stay at my house because Noah likes to eat the food she cooks, nothing else. Youâre overthinking this.â
âI donât think so! You could hire any cook in the country if you wanted to! You donât need Hayden to cook for your son.â
âBelieve it or not, Noah only likes to eat the food she makes.â Josephâs tone turned serious, âBesides, thereâs one more thing. The head of RX Corporation is a friend of mine. I can recommend you to his company. If you decide to join them, Iâll ask him to contact you.â
âWho needs your recommendation?â The voice on the other end of the line scolded him, âIâm in high demand, I donât need your recommendation!â.
Joseph didnât want to listen to him anymore, so he hung up the phone directly.
A guy like Freddie, who was confident in his innate musical talent and had a ready-made path, was usually an arrogant and stubborn person. He never listened to anyoneâs advice.
After a while, he again received a call from Magnusâ number. This time, it was Magnus himself.
âMr. Beckham, itâs all done. Ray-Trace Mediaâs agent will contact him and talk to him about the contract later.â
âOkay, understood.â After hanging up the phone, Joseph cracked a smile.
Freddie had just turned down his recommendation to sign a contract with RX Corporation. Therefore, he would no doubt be eager to sign a contract with another company to prove himself. If he was now approached by an agent from Ray-Trace Media, he would surely accept without hesitation, provided the terms were good enough.
This was called, the diversionary tactic.
â¦
âIs it confirmed, have you shown him the pictures?â.
In the actressâs individual dressing room, the bespectacled man leaned his briefcase of files on the small table and sat upright: âIâm one hundred percent sure. Cesar is still in good health, his vision is still clear. He could recognize the woman in the photo instantly when he looked at her, he admitted she was the girl from back then. He thought I was one of Josephâs contacts, so he told me the whole truth.â
Violetâs face instantly went ghastly pale. She clenched her fist, gritted her teeth and said, âI canât believe itâs really her.â
