C10 â Chen Wuâs Brilliance
âOld man, I havenât caused any trouble. If the Hu Family has sent someone for me, then letâs see what they want. Iâm curious to find out what they think they can do to me!â
Chen Wuâs snort was laced with an unprecedented authority and indifference, leaving the Elder Village Head and Zhu Tie momentarily stunned. It was as if they were seeing Chen Wu for the first time. Chen Fengqing, in particular, felt this most acutely. His grandson, who had always navigated life with cunning, now stood before them with a posture of strength and fearlessness that was almost intimidating.
What on earth had he been through these last few days?
A bellowing voice came from the doorway: âYou lowly peasants inside, when you hear that the Hu Family has arrived, you should come out and welcome us! Are you looking for trouble?!â
The voice was unmistakably that of the Hu Familyâs haughty servants. A dog emboldened by its masterâs power, these contemptible servants were emboldened by the Hu Familyâs backing and were well-known bullies in the town.
âChen Wu, please donât go outside!â
The Elder Village Head was visibly shaken as he sighed, âRegardless of what trouble youâve stirred up, let me handle it. I am the Village Head, after all. They wouldnât dare do anything to an old man like meâ¦â
âGrandfather, enough!â
Chen Wuâs eyes met Chen Fengqingâs with an unwavering determination that was new to him, âYou wonât have to bow and scrape to these wretches any longer. It wonât be long before I give Hu Wang a piece of my mind!â
Chen Fengqing was left speechless by Chen Wuâs audacious declaration.
âOh, quite the lofty words!â
At that moment, a mocking voice rang out, accompanied by the sound of clapping.
A dozen burly servants burst into the courtyard, brandishing various weapons. A young man dressed in finery, about Chen Wuâs age, followed, feigning an expression of utter surprise as he addressed Chen Wu, âImpressive, Chen Wu, you want to give my father a lesson? Why donât you just claim youâre the strongest in Green-mount Town?â
âJust look at you, a pathetic beggar and a fatherless whelp. Do you really think you and your lowly kind amount to anything? I could crush you with one hand!â
Chen Wu remained silent, his breath catching for a moment when he heard insults like âold beggarâ and âbastard,â before regaining his usual deep, tranquil composure.
Lee Wang kept up his mockery, âWhatâs the matter? Cat got your tongue?â
âDo you even know why Iâm here today?â
Chen Wu fixed him with a cold stare, remaining silent.
Lee Wang was unfazed by Chen Wuâs indifference. In fact, he was in an exceptionally good mood, boasting, âAh, I really owe it to your Bloodline Spirit Talisman. Thanks to it, Iâve successfully become a Grade 1 Demonic Pet Master. I couldnât wait to come and thank you once I heard you were back, Brother Chen!â
The Elder Village Head immediately grasped the situation. He had raised Chen Wu and was aware of the Bloodline Spirit Talisman that had been sent by a significant figure last time. He had been thrilled at the time, concerned about how to secure a Demonic Pet for his grandson. Little did he expect that the Bloodline Spirit Talisman would end up in the hands of the Hu Family!
That was the Bloodline Spirit Talismanâa treasure crafted only by Spirit Talisman Masters and the key to Chen Wuâs future prospects beyond the village. And now, it had fallen into the Hu Familyâs hands!
The Elder Village Head felt dizzy, a wave of desolation washing over him as he thought of Chen Wuâs deceased parents.
Chen Wu, with a bitter laugh, retorted, âWhat, youâve come to thank me today?â
âOf course, but besides showing my gratitude, Iâd like you to experience the power of my beloved pet,â Lee Wang replied with a sly grin.
A malicious glint in his eye, Lee Wang focused his thoughts, and a Magic Array materialized on the ground: âCome forth, Blood Wolf!â
A creature the size of a large wolfdog appeared, its fur a dark shade of crimson and its eyes gleaming with a bloodthirsty cunning. Its gaping maw could easily snap a human head off. The formidable presence of the Demonic Pet filled the air, instilling fear in everyone present. Zhu Tie, in particular, was petrified after locking eyes with the Blood Wolf, collapsing to the ground, trembling as he stammered, âDemon, Demonic Beast!â
The deterrent power of a Demonic Beast was simply too strong for the average person. A single wolf could kill a robust man, so one could only imagine the threat posed by a Demonic Beast with an even more formidable physique, greater speed, and innate Talent Skills. It was akin to a group of mice scattering at the sight of a cat. Even the Servants were terrified, quickly keeping their distance, yet there was a hint of excitement in the air as they prepared to watch the young masterâs Blood Wolf devour the old and young men.
Lee Wang burst into maniacal laughter, his face twisted with cruelty as he commanded, âBite them to death! Leave no survivors!â
Being the son of Hu Wang, Lee Wang was certainly no fool. His father had secured a Bloodline Spirit Talisman for him, and Lee, always driven to prove himself, was well aware that Chen Wuâs survival would be detrimental to both him and his father. Moreover, he had risen to the rank of Demonic Pet Master using Chen Wuâs Bloodline Spirit Talisman. He would relish the opportunity to thoroughly humiliate Chen Wu before his demise, finding satisfaction in such cruelty. Hence, he had hurried over without even waiting for his father.
Regrettably for him, he was bound for disappointment, and this action would likely be his most regrettableâif he lived to regret it at all.
Chen Wu smiled, and with a mere thought, a Summoning Array materialized beneath his feet. Suddenly, Blood Rain emerged, unfurling its wings and soaring into the sky with a piercing screech that made everyoneâs ears ring. A gust of wind whipped up, swirling dust and debris into the air.
âWhat? That, that looks like a Demonic Beast!â
âMy god, this kid, heâs actually summoned a Demonic Pet!â
Witnessing the spectacle, Lee Wang stood agape, muttering in disbelief, âHow is this possible? It canât be. Without a Bloodline Spirit Talisman, how did he tame a Demonic Pet?â
The Blood Wolf below was equally overwhelmed. Outclassed by the higher-level, more powerful Blood Rain, which now coldly surveyed from above, the juvenile Blood Wolf was so frightened that it shook on its legs. Its once fearsome howl reduced to a dog-like whimper, it retreated, tail tucked, overcome with fear.
âDamn it! Donât think Iâm scared of you just because youâre a Demonic Pet Master. A lowly mongrel will always be a lowly creature. Blood Wolf, use Rip and bring it down for me!â
Lee Wang bellowed in desperation!
Despite its fear, the Blood Wolf had no choice but to grit its teeth and follow its masterâs command. Since Blood Rain was flying at a mere four meters above the ground, the Blood Wolf sprang into action. Its claws, radiating a blood-red light, soared three meters high in an attempt to knock Blood Rain from the sky!
But Chen Wu merely looked on with a mocking gleam in his eyes. Without any need for his direction, Blood Rain nimbly evaded the attack. To Blood Rain, the Blood Wolfâs assault was painfully slow, not even comparable to any of the Demonic Beasts it had faced in the jungle.
âYou and your son have been so kind to me, itâs only right that I return the favor with a generous gift!â
âBlood Rain, The Hawk Strike Force, Iron Claw!â
With a piercing cry, Blood Rainâs speed surged like lightning, a Wind-type Airflow enveloping its form. Its velocity tripled in a flash, diving towards the ground before the Blood Wolf could even register what was happening.
The gap between a Grade 1 Demonic Beast and a Grade 3 Demonic Beast was more than just a notch â it was a chasm!
Unsurprisingly, Blood Rainâs Iron Claw mercilessly tore through the Blood Wolfâs skull, brains bursting forth as the headless body collapsed to the earth!
Simultaneously, Lee Wang shook violently, his complexion turning deathly white as he coughed up blood.
