Chapter 13: Junior Knight Championship

Today is the day I fight in the Junior Knight Championships. Since it was an open championship, many human junior knights are competing here. I’m confident that I can be the grand finalist of this year. The opening ceremony took so long before the group drawing started.

Amid the crowd in this amphitheater, I was separated from Noa and Taka when trying to get inside this tribune. Just for an opening ceremony and group drawing, these championships attract 30,000 people of many races.

Eight hours later, this opening finally ends. I got into Group D; my eyes scanned to see who my opponent was. In one group filled with ten people, to pass to the knockout stage, you need 12 points, and 5 points to pass. Winning guarantees 2 points, a draw gets 1 point, and losing gets you minus 2 points. Fortunately, my opponents are mostly human junior knights.

My group matches are scheduled two days from now. Plenty of time for training and finding my opponent's data. I see Taka and Noa getting closer to me in front of the big announcement board.

“Good luck, Miyuki! I’m rooting for you!” Taka said happily.

“Go defeat them all!” Noa cheers.

“Of course I will!” I replied.

“I’m too tired. Sorry, Miyuki big sis, I can’t see you in the training area this afternoon.” Taka yawned, and his face was getting tired.

“Don’t worry, I’ll bring him home,” Noa said and helped Taka stay awake.

After our brief encounter, I went straight to the training area and entered practice mode. Practice mode here is customizable; you can summon your shadow clone to fight yourself. No need to have a sparring partner. But the experience gained is halved from training with your shadow clone.

Today I want to hone my spear mastery levels. I'm already at level 25, which gives me a buff of +15% hybrid attack and a 3% increase in defense stats. My target is level 30 before championships begin.

“Let’s go!” I press the button to start practicing.

In the evening, my father came and wanted to do a practice duel with me. Even my father has a hard time trying to beat me. But I know he purposely lowered his power to match me.

My father entered his battle stance again. I’m doing the same and readied my spear in defense mode. This time, my father is equipping his dual battle axe. His weapon countered my spear. So I must seek to be on the aggressive side.

I charge forward and thrust my spear with a basic three-attack combo. My father blocks it and evades it. He countered by doing five chain attack combos. My eyes are trying to look where he is going to attack. But I failed, and three out of five attacks managed to hit me.

“Sword countered axes, axes countered spear, and spear countered sword. Bow countered all of them, but can be blocked by a shield or easily evaded. Martial arts deals true damage, but you must stay close and locked in towards your enemy.”

“I know it well, Father. I just want to find where my spear technique weaknesses are.” I replied.

My father ended our practice time since it’s starting to get dark. He told me to go home first while he spent the night in the government office again. When I arrived at home, Taka and Noa were already waiting for me.

“Dinner’s ready!” Taka said happily. “I made this mushroom soup today!”

“Good boy,” my hand automatically giving him a head pat.

A quick warm meal to fill the stomach before sleeping. Noa goes straight to her room to sleep. I reviewed my weapon mastery skills. Training with Father increased my level by two.

“I want to heal you. Stay still,” Taka said, standing up from his chair and walking until he reached my back. His hand feels soft and warm. My energy is slowly going up, and my fatigue is gone. That’s right, I have OP supporters here. I won't lose any match with his help.

“Done!” Taka said.

“Thanks,” I replied and did a stretch.

“Noa told me to give you this.” Taka handed me data on my opponents. “I read it, and your opponents are a bunch of noble kids and a newbie.”

I take a quick look and decide to look for it tomorrow. I’m happy that the results of the Federation Meeting put him under the control of my tribe. He will be a valuable asset for my tribe.

“Do you want to take a bath before sleeping?” Taka asked.

“No. I just want to relieve my lust.” I said and carried him towards my bed. But he seems hesitant, like a rock stuck in his mind.

“Mmmm, Miyuki, big sis. Can we have a normal relationship experience?” He asked.

Gently, I put him down on my bed.

“Noa said our relationships are more like a master and his pet. I want to experience a normal relationship.” He continued. “People around us noticed it too.”

My training goes well; I managed to reach all my weapon mastery targets before the championships start. On day one of the championships, I managed to defeat my enemy easily for the rest of the championships. My points are a full 12 points, and I've already announced moving to the knockout stage.

I gained a lot of fame due to a one-hit K.O. move. Many people root for me to win this championship. Faintly, I hear Taka's sound cheering for me in the crowd. But I can't see where his seats are.

One week has passed, and all entries to the knockout stage are full. From 350 people, only 50 were left for the knockout stage. I got into the upper bracket due to my full-points win over the others who got full points.

Using Taka to help me in training has paid off. I easily defeat my enemies and go straight to the grand finals. I still have time to spend before the grand finals match begins.

“Well, Miyuki, I’m proud of you,” Father said. “Your first championships and already being a grand finalist.”

“I’m your daughter. Of course, I must win this championship.” I replied.

“Your next enemy is a formidable one. Sons of Lord Jackson in the Holy Eturuks Empire. He also has a strong technique. From my analysis, try to bait him into doing an aggressive move and counter him. Play passively and never show the weakness on your side.” Father gave me some important advice.
