Chapter 6: Journey To Tabou

Taka PoV

The night we started to walks toward Tabou. The home town of this band deserters that I joined. We can only continuing the journey at night to avoid detection from military police of the Eturuks Army.

At night this world are dangerous. I once saw that my family attacked by a group of undead and others monsters. Fortunately my mother was a warrior so she can defend us if we needed to defeat some monsters that require physical damage.

“Ah a group of undead.” Seele said. “Battle stance guys.”

“Let me take a quick work of it.” I chant a spell of Unhealing. That spell was created to reverse any healing but deal an ungodly amount of damage to undead. After finished chanting I directed the magic to the undead group. They soon vanish and turn to ashes.

“My father said. After undead vanished we must buried it ash. So they will not resurrect again next night.” I said and start picking a dirt and buried it.

Noa mimicks what I do with Tuckers while the others stand guard. They seems trusted me already, I will trust them too. Noa poke my shoulders, “Shall we pray for them too?”

“Mmmm, that a good idea.”

“Please let them rest in peace. Hope the Holy Father Xi’Anh forgive them and put them in a good place.” Noa prays.

“What kind of religions you follows?” I asked.

“Xi’Anhnism.” Tuckers said. “You’re nomadic tribe your religions must be Koshefans right? The God of Light.”

“Yes.” I answered. “But I never practiced or pray because in our religions without being baptised and under 17 years old we cant enter the religions.”

We continued our journey. When the sun started rising we arrived at a small village. We’re going to the inn and eating lunch there. We’re pooling our money together to buy food for lunch here.

“This village seems safe. Let’s properly rest for a night there and gathering money for our journey.” Seele said after lunch.

“I agree. We’ll go out first to take a look for a villagers need a help.” Tuckers said. “Sammy you go with me.”

“Mmmm, maybe I’ll help you guys too by healing the villagers. But I cant guaranteed to get a much money since in my tribe our healing service pay by donations towards our faith.” I said and going out.

“We’ll go hunting.” Noa and Seele said.

We all parted ways only Netz stayed in the inn helping the inn owner. I’m want to go to the village chief house. To ask permissions and get know if there’s any person needed to be healed. The children in this village look me at awe.

“Hey, do you know the village chief house?” I ask them.

“Here, up the mound.” The kid I ask answered. Her finger pointed to a wooden long house not too far away.

“Thanks kid.” I replied and going up there. After some bit of walking, the woman who busy doing skinning cow skin standing up and meet me.

“Whoa an elf, what bring you here out of forest?” She asked.

“Are you the village chief?” I asked.

“Kinda, since my husband are sicks.” She answered. “Name’s Rita.”

“Taka, the Wandering Healer. I’m not from Orthodox Elf Tribe. I’m from Magro tribe.” I bowed and introducing myself.

“Whoa that perfect! Please come in and heal my husband!” Rita quickly wash her hands and going inside her house. I see her husband almost dying and his body full of bump with a green liquid inside the bump.

“What happened to him?” I asked and starting checking on my patient.

“One day he’s going hunting with his friends. But his friends dead mauled by some creature that I dont know. And he’s safe and found fainted in the forest.” Rita explained, “Please save my husband!”

“Okay, I need your help. Can I borrows some of your cooking utensils? Mainly I needed knife and funnel and some of clean clothes?” I replied.

“O-okay!” Rita going out to her kitchen to look for what I needed.

His husband are still alive. But can speak anything since this bump must be draining his life. From what I see here he’s and his friend maybe got attacked by giant forestpillar and this bump are filled with the monster egg.

Oh right, I need Noa or Netz to help me to vanquish the baby forestpillar when I drained his bump. Rita are back with item I requested and told her to sterilize it in her cooking fire and touching the ash.

“I’m going to ask help from my friends if my diagnose right.” I said and going out looking for Noa.

Luckily I found her just back from hunting with Seele. I told them what happened and they followed me to Rita house. When we come, Rita alread sterilize item I needed and I perform my medical duties. With my knowledge dealing with this, I started to drain the bump and funnel it to empty bucket nearby.

“And my diagnose are right. It’s a giant forestpillars egg.” One by one I pick the egg from the wound with my hands. Noa almost threw up seeing how goey and smelly the liquid I extracted.

“Uh oh!” I see the egg started grouping into one in the bucket. I bring the bucket outside, Noa and Seele followed me with Rita.

I’m in time to save him before the egg finished it’s phase inside human body. With his phase are not completed the egg hatched into a medium size giant forestpillar baby. “It’s your turn to kill this creature Noa and Seele.”

Three of us entering our battle stance. I know insect type monster are very weak to fire. Quickly I opened my spell book and cast four magic spell, first one are defense boost, resistance boost, attack up boost and fire enhancement magic.

“Whoa you can cast 4 magic spells? Quite a talented supporters you are.” Seele praised and aimed her bow to attack first. Her attacks hit the forestpillar baby right in his stomach.

Noa turns to attacks with her charge spear attacks she trust the forestpillar baby eyes. And inflicts burns status to the forestpillar. It’s my turn again I entered my mana regained stance.

The forestpillar attacked with a normal attacks. Noa blocked the attacks and Seele evaded it.It’s my turn to attacks again. I cast agility boost to Noa and Seele so they can attack twice in this turns.

Seele used her skills, piercing arrows. Her arrows pierce the forestpillar body and split it into two. Noa used her charged attack and finish the baby forestpillar. The monster dropped some money and materials. Seele pick it up while I quickly going inside and continuing my process healing Rita husband.

“T-thanks Taka, I d-dont know there’s a creature like that inside our forest. I should warn the other villagers about this.” Rita said and leave.

Well that mean Tuckers and Sammy are in danger too. Quickly I sewn the open wound from the bump and healing it and cast regenerations magic on her husbands. I leave a note to Rita to let her husband healed up for 2 days.

“Noa, Seele, Tuckers and Sammy might be in dangers.” I said to Noa and Seele who’s waiting for me outside Rita house.

“But why? Tuckers and Sammy helping the villagers foraging deep in the forest.” Noa asked like nothing bad will not happens to her friends.

“We only kill the baby. That mean the mother are still lurking deep in the forest. You two are defeat the baby easily because I cast into you a high level support magic.” I explained. “Rita, the village chief wife said that her husband got attacked in the deep forest.”

“Uh oh.” Seele realized what I said. “Let’s go search for them!”

Rita returned home to meet us out of breath. Netz are with him, “Taka, Seele, Noa lets search for Tuckers and the villager who going deep to the forest for foraging! They might be in danger!”

“We know. Lets go!” Seele said.

Four of us entered the deep forest area. Only the outskirts forest already subjugated. But the inside are not. While Seele and the others shouted Tuckers and Sammy name. I look for their trails, any trails left can helped us find them.

At noon we decided to take break and look for their trails. As we began to sits and leaned our back to the tree. We heard Sammy screams looking for help.

Netz quickly leave us and going blindly following the sounds. Seele tried to prevent him but Netz just ignore her orders. We followed Netz footprint to catch up with him. Noa threw up again seeing a gruesome scene unfold in front of us.

Two giant mature forestpillars a creature like caterpillar but with giant size and venomous bite already chewed Tuckers and Sammy half body like it was their chewing gums. Netz are here trying to defeat the forestpillar alone. That a stupid one, we too scared to move and stunned to see Netz eaten alive by those creature.
