Violet's POV
I shouldn't have been so cruel to Jackson, I like him, like I really like him. I don't want to leave this town either, even though I probably should since Mr. Jivoni found me. He and my Father were friends back in the day, I had no idea my Father borrowed money off him. 500,000 dollars! I don't have that kind of money! I need to think of a plan to end that son of a bitch. Prying off a teenager, that man is going to hell.
I remember a time when I was around thirteen and Kylie was seven, it was the middle of the night and I had a nightmare. So I went downstairs to get some water and find my Mum and Dad. I overheard my Father talking about Mr. Jivoni, I remember him telling my Mum that Mr. Jivoni has committed advance fee fraud. If I could break into Mr. Jivoni's office, I could find evidence of fraud and send them to the police. He would be arrested and probably sent to prison! I wouldn't have to worry about the debt!
His office is back in New York, I know the building since my Dad had worked with him. I bet he's still working there. I needed help though, I can't break into an office by myself! And I definitely cannot bring Kylie with me. My mind instantly thinks of Jackson, would he forgive me if I apologised? I would have to try, I don't trust anyone else. Where would Kylie stay though? She can not stay in the apartment by herself. If I drive to New York with Jackson tonight I could possibly steal the files and get back here by tomorrow afternoon to pick up Kylie from her sleepover.
It has been decided, hopefully Jackson will forgive me. I grab my bag and rush to my motorbike, I drive way past the speed limit to Jackson's house. I remember him pointing to the house at the end of the street. I drive up to his house, park my motorbike outside and stealthily climb over the gate. I spot a drainpipe on the side of the house, so I hunch over as I sprint across the driveway and onto the grass on the side of the house. I use the metal hinges to hoist myself upwards, I climb up to the first floor balcony. I peer through the balcony door windows and see a middle aged couple lying on a queen sized bed, luckily both of them are reading books so they don't see me. I hoist myself back up the drain pipe and climb to the second floor balcony, I look inside to see Jackson watching something on his laptop. I knock on the door, causing him to look up in surprise. He scowls when he sees me, scampering over to the balcony doors he opens them.
"How did you get up here?! Wait, what are you doing here?!" He whisper yells at me.
"Listen, I know I said some stupid things before but I need your help." I say quickly, it is only now when I take in his state. He has huge bags under his eyes, his hair is ruffled in a million directions. It is also only now that I realise he is shirtless, his toned muscles shining gloriously in the moonlight.
"What exactly do you need help with?" He asks, his face his hard and composed. It was kind of cute.
I quickly explain to him about Mr. Jivoni, and how I can get myself out of the debt.
"You want me, to come with you, to New York?!" He finally says, looking at me like I'm crazy.
"You'll be back by tomorrow afternoon." I say quickly, anticipating what he'll say.
"Fine, I'll go." He says, turning to grab his wallet and phone. "Let's go," he says as he turns back to me.
"Umm, aren't you going to put on a shirt?" I say looking down. Jackson laughs.
"Distracting you am I?" He questions with an amused smile.
"No, just it's very cold outside..." I mutter, mentally slapping myself for sounding so stupid. Jackson laughs again, as he picks up a sweatshirt and throws it over his head.
We both climb down the drainpipe, running back across the driveway we climb over the fence.
"Here put this on," I say handing Jackson the motorbike helmet.
"What about you?" He asks while he take the helmet and puts it on.
"I'll be fine." I say, straddling my bike and turning on the engine. Jackson sits behind me, slowly snaking his arms around my waist. Making my breath hitch, tension was rolling off both of us making me cringe. I ignore it and start the engine as we drive off.
--
It's around 1am when we finally make it to New York, I park around the side of the office building hiding my motorbike from view. Me and Jackson both walk through the double glass doors, the building is still open to people who still work very late into the night. There are two security guards sitting behind a desk, both looking bored out of their minds.
"Follow my lead." I whisper to Jackson, before pulling down my top so a bit of cleavage is showing as I stroll confidently towards the two security guards.
"Hola gentlemen!"I say, faking a Spanish accent. "I been partying wiz my fffrrienddd tonight! I use restroom?" I say smiling, while wrapping my arm around Jackson.
"Oh, um, okay just go up to the first floor ma'am." Says one of the security guards, smiling at me with lust. I thank them before pulling Jackson towards the elevators.
"How did you think of that so quickly?" Asks Jackson, obviously impressed.
"Imma New Yorker skipper!" I reply, happy he was impressed. He smiles at me as we slip into the elevators. I find the button that reads 'Jivoni Industries' I press it and we are soon gliding upwards. It's really awkward as we ride up the elevator, tension rolling off both of us.
Luckily the elevator ride is short, and we walk into Mr. Jivoni's offices. There's only a woman who is working near the back of the office, thankfully her back is turned away from us. So me and Jackson quietly slip down the hall, when we come across a door with a sign reading 'Mr. Jivoni.' I open the door, going straight to the filing cabinets I flip through them until landing on a file reading 'goods services.' This has to be it. I shove it in my bag.
"Quick let's get out of here!" I whisper to Jackson, he nods and follows me out. Closing the door silently behind him. We walk towards the doors, we are halfway out of Mr. Jivoni's offices when a woman's voice stops us.
"What do you think you are doing here!" She screeches, I turn around to see the woman who was working here when we first came in.
"Ooh, I just got very lost! I party with my friend and we need use restroom! So come into office building, I press on wrong floor very sorry." I say again in my fake Spanish accent again.
"Well, I will be escorting you downstairs to the guards! I don't believe your phony story--" She is cut off from saying anything more when Jackson knocks her out by punching her temple. I stare at him in shock as her body falls limp on the floor.
"Let's carry her back to her desk." Jackson says, smiling deviously. I grab her shoulders and Jackson grabs her legs, we manage to sit her back down in her desk before taking the elevator back to the lobby. We run out of elevators and yell a 'goodbye' to the guards as we hop on my motorbike.
--
We've been driving for around three hours until we decide to stop for a break. I fill up the tank while Jackson goes to the bathroom, a few minutes later I see Jackson stroll out of the bathroom and back towards me.
"You know, I saw a motel not far from here. Can't we rest for a while? I brought my wallet I can pay for two rooms." Jackson says as he lets out a yawn.
"No we need to get back!" I argue, taking out the petrol pump and straddle my bike.
"We only have to drive for three more hours, we can rest for a bit before going back on the road!" Jackson counters, "we'll get separate rooms, just please Violet we both need to sleep." Well he's not wrong there.
"Okay fine." I mumble, as I drive down to the motel.
--
As we walk inside, it isn't as bad as I thought it would be, there are nice cream colored walls and a marble white desk. Jackson walks up to the woman in the lobby.
"Hi, I'd like two rooms please, just for the rest of tonight." He says. The woman looks up at us, her face stern.
"We're booked, it's the long weekend! I'm afraid we only have one room left." She says, leaning back in her chair.
"Well, we'll take it. Can we have two single beds though?" Jackson says while looking at me apologetically.
"I'm afraid not sonny, it's the honeymoon suite."
This time I reply, "Okay fine we'll take it for the night!" I say in frustration.
"Alright, that'll be eighty dollars!" She says, Jackson hands us the money while she drops the key card on the table. I pick it up, and we both head towards our room. It's deadly silent as we walk down the hall the tension between us thicker than blood. I slide the key card down the side of the door, and with a beep it unlocks. As I open the door and look around the room is bright red, rose petals lay all over the bed and champagne is laid out on the end table. A huge chandelier hangs in the middle of the room, and a bouquet of flowers lie in the middle of the pillows.
"Woah." I breathe out, as Jackson walks over to the bathroom.
"I'm going to brush my teeth and freshen up and then I'll head to bed." Jackson says, closing the bathroom door shut behind him. I blow out a breath, I wish I hadn't said what I had to Jackson.
