Part 5

The 'Outcast' - First Year712 words~4 min read

After that little encounter with Leaf not much else happened for Ash. School was over as Ash exited his last class of the day he's approached by a tall man with a white lab coat.

"Ah, Ash! Marvelous to see you again. Do you mind if I talk to you for a moment?" He asked.

Not having much else to do Ash shrugs. "Sure why not?"

Professor Sycamore smiled and began leading him to his office. As Ash followed him to his office he noticed a familiar looking bluenette girl with that honey blond haired girl. They watched him walk past them hearing them faintly giggling.

'Freaks' Ash thought to himself.

They got to his office as Sycamore shut the door. Ash noticed a blue frog like Pokémon sitting on the desk stubbornly. This immediately peaked his interest.

"Woah, what kind of Pokémon is that?" Ash Asked.

"Hm? Oh that's a Froakie. It's one of three starter Pokémon a new trainer here in Kalos May choose from," Sycamore explained.

"Ah, I see. But why's it here and not at your lab Professor?" He asked curiously.

Professor Sycamore frowns slightly. "See the problem is... this Froakie has had several trainers in the past. But for some reason, it never seems to work out and then it leaves them," He explained.

Ash looked over at Froakie who was just sitting there with a stubborn look.

"You're certainly a curious one," He muttered.

"Anyways Ash, the reason I brought you here was because I was hoping you could give a shot at being Froakie's trainer," Sycamore requested suddenly.

Ash gave him a surprised look. "Me? Seriously?"

"Yes Ash," He nodded. "From what I've heard from Professor Oak you're a trainer with great potential and much experience. It would mean the world to me if you accepted this offer."

Ash thinks for a second. "You know, this is kind of convenient because I only brought five Pokémon with me to Kalos... sure I'll take it," He said.

Sycamore's eyes lit up. "Marvelous! I knew I could count on you Ash. Here's Froakie's Pokeball." Sycamore said, handing him an empty Pokeball. Ash takes it and returns Froakie. Not before Froakie launched a frubble at Ash's face.

"Alrighty Professor I'll be heading out now," Ash said, wiping the frubble off his face.

"Okay Ash. Thanks again. See you soon," Sycamore waves him off.

As Ash exited his office he noticed the two girls from earlier still in the same area despite school having already been over for a while now. There also stood a boy who looked identical to himself talking to them. As Ash walks by the boy spots him.

"Hey! You're the new guy right?" Calem asked abruptly.

Ash turned. "Yeah, I think so." He replies.

"Ah, that's cool. I heard about you from a few of my buddies. Apparently you're very skillful at battling right?" Calem asked eagerly.

Ash could read where this was going and decided to play it cool.

"Yeah, but I can't battle right now. I've got things to do and places to be." He replied nonchalantly.

Calem frowns. "Aw Man. I was really hoping to battle you... maybe if we see each other again?" Calem suggested.

"Hmm... I'll think about it. Right now I'm going to go challenge another gym. I have no clue where to go though..." Ash Said.

Hearing this Serena decided to speak up again. "Ooh. You can go to the gym in Cyllage City!" She said a little abruptly.

"O-Only if you want too of course..." She feels her face heating up a little. Ash turned to her now.

"Sure. Got any idea where that could be?" He asked. Serena pulled out her pink map she always carried. After she shows it to him and gives him directions he nods and walks off.

"He's certainly an... interesting one don't you think?" Dawn nudged Serena. Serena blushes even harder than she already was.

"Yeah, but I wanna battle him so bad!" Calem states.

A/N: Sorry for another short chapter. So far you guys may notice how different Ash May be. Cool, calm, and doesn't seem to open up to anyone. But as you all may know acting like this in school may have some consequences... Next Part soon!
