Chapter 26 : Smart Ellie strikes again..

I CANT BELIEVE IM BACK AFTER ALL THIS TIME.

I'll admit, I miss putting up a new chapter, and getting excited and happy when I get a notification with someone new commenting.

Also, said it before and I'll say it again. I have a lot of ideas for this book. So even though, I haven't worked on them in so long, I'm excited.

Chapter 26 : .. Smart Ellie strikes again

"We'll be back late tonight, but don't forget to stick by the rules!" Nathan's mom, a very beautiful woman called Anna, says.

"Mom, you've said this way too many times already, we get it." Nathan claims.

"I know, I know, just gotta make sure no one will do anything stupid." She responds, looking at each one of us slowly.

Everybody stayed silent and either looked away or nodded.

"We won't." Steve finally stated.

"I know you, ChickenHead." She replied and we all burst out laughing at what she called him.

ChickenHead. Why in the world would Nathan's mom call his best friend chicken head though?

Steve laughed along with us and then said, "Never gets old."

"Right?" Nathan's dad laughed and opened the door.

"Right, bye mom." Nathan said, smiling sarcastically at his parents.

Nathan's parents finally left and now we have the house to ourselves the whole night.

Right. How did we end up here?

So on that iconic day, the day the iconic Ellie made up a stupid idea, called the sleepover that no one was gonna approve of, we ended up actually planning it.

We asked our parents.

At first, almost everyone's parents disagreed. But then we all started annoying them by constantly mentioning it. Still didn't work.

So. Smart Ellie strikes again. I told everyone a lie we could use and try.

And that was, each of us would tell our parents that all the other's parent's approved and, "Oh come on, I deserve to be a part of it too."

Surprisingly, that worked perfectly well. Obviously.

Nathan's parents already had a thing to do this Friday night so they agreed to let a bunch of teenagers over. I mean they've had the boys over multiple times, they know Laurel, it was just Rose and I who were new.

We worked it out, our parents shared phone calls four days prior, checking stuff, making sure we won't, I don't know, have sex?

By the end of it, here we are. Having a sleepover at Nathan's. Yay.

We don't know what we'll be doing for the rest of the night but right now we'll be watching a movie. Pretty typical of us.

As usual, we chose a horror movie, sat on the floor, and got our snacks.

The movie did have a few jump scares but I feel like at this point, they never create horror movies that are actually like, scary.

And therefore, Ethan thought it would be a great idea if we play hide and seek in the dark, having just watched a horror movie and feeling all that thrill. We all agreed. I mean, it's fun.

You're never too old for hide and seek.

We spent ten minutes arguing over who "seeks" first.

"Just to clarify, I'm the last one who goes looking." Aaron stated, starting a ten minute pointless argument.

"I'm the one before Aaron." Rose said fast.

"Excuse me?" I looked at them.

"The one who gets caught is supposed to look next." Laurel said, placing her hand on her hip.

"Okay.." Aaron shrugged, "then I won't go first."

"I won't either." Nathan said.

"How come you guys get to choose and we don't?" I glared at them, crossing my arms.

"Don't you know the rules, Ellie?" Ethan said with his mouth full of popcorn on the floor.

"There ain't no rules, this should be a fair game!!" I exclaimed.

"Naaaah, the ones who pick first get what they want, we were smart enough to remember to choose, you weren't." Aaron smirked at me.

"Oh? Excuse me, you-" I was cut off by Joey.

"No. You aren't going to start your never ending war zone with Aaron now." Joey said.

"You guys! Calm down. I have a solution." Steve said calmly as he took a seat.

We all looked at him waiting for whatever he has to suggest.

"Joey counts first." Steve said.

"What-" Joey said but everyone cut him off.

"Oh yeah!"

"That would be a great idea."

"Remember, I fell in love with you because you have great counting abilities."

"Just go for it!"

"OKAY FINE, GOD!!!" Joey yelled, shutting us all up as we started laughing.

"I'll count to twenty-five, now leave me alone." Joey started and covered his head on the wall behind him.

We decided that Steve would stay next to the light switch and not play this turn, just in case someone falls and dies in the dark.

The moment Steve switched off the lights, we all scattered around.

There was a little light coming from the windows, but that's about it.

Oh and also, Steve had our phones with him so we won't turn them on and lose the whole point of this game.

And that's what led me here. In the bathroom. Known to be the scariest place in horror movies and stories.

I knew it's the bathroom when I accidentally looked in the mirror at my dim shadow and scared myself.

Oh god. This is scarier than I thought.

Did I really have to go alone? I should've followed anyone.

Stupid Ellie, always making stupid decisions.

And then as I'm standing in the middle of the bathroom, I literally felt the presence of something behind me.

Oh my god oh my god Oh my god oh my god Oh my god oh my god Oh my god oh my god Oh my god oh my god Oh my god oh my god.

Do I scream? Or find the light switch?

Oh my god, what did I get myself into?

This is literally like the movie.

Oh my god, that scene were Liz was standing in front of her closet and-

"Got you." A voice whispered, causing me to jump and scream, but a silent scream as a hand covered my mouth.

And then the only asshole I know in my life, Aaron, started laughing.

But by this point, I'm so scared I literally have tears in my eyes and my heart is beating too fast.

I turned around, although I can't really see anything, but I know I'm facing him this way.

Aaron immediately silenced me, "Shhh Oreo, We don't want Joey to catch us now, do we?"

"You scared the crap out of me, oh god." I whispered, placing my hand on my heart.

"I'm sorry, Oreo." Aaron whispered in his deep voice that got raspy for a second there.

And that's when I realized, I'm so close to one of the hottest people I have ever seen, in the dark.

I didn't say anything.

I feel so many chills and weird things.

Like, you know when you're on a roller coaster? And the moment the ride comes down fast, you feel weird things in your stomach?

Aaron broke the silence after a while, "Damn, Ellie, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to scare you."

What?

"What, no! Don't say that, it was funny, it's fine." I replied in a low voice.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Aaron said.

This boy.

"Yeah, ofcourse. " I smiled a little and thank god, he can't see it, or the chills on my arms.

And then he had to ruin it.

"Wow, for once you're not being extra and dramatic." Aaron laughed a little.

"Okay." I replied and he laughed more.

Normally when I reply one worded answers, it probably means I don't like what you're saying and that's my way of claiming I'm not talking to you anymore.

And then we heard footsteps, lots of screaming, and Steve yelling, "EVERYONE BACK IN THE LIVING ROOM, NATHAN IS CAUGHT AND WILL COUNT NEXT AND SOMEONE ELSE IS IN CONTROL OF THE FREAKING SWITCH NOW OTHER THAN ME." all that followed by Nathan's "SHUT UP."

And then we played another turn and decided we were bored and Nathan and Joey were upset because how come they catch and the rest of us get the thrill of hiding?

And I also realized, it's still eight thirty o'clock in the night, and we still have many hours and a long night ahead of us.

Praying for myself to survive this sleepover.

Along with Aaron's hotness, and Nathan's cute dimples.
