Chapter 45 : Oh no, I need to stop.
******************************************
"I'm telling y'all, I think I'm still full all these hours later." Ethan said, taking a sip out of his drink as he complains about the Thanksgiving dinner he had.
"Yeah, very full." Joey laughed, pointing at Ethan's drink.
"Well, you know, full but can still have snacks." Ethan shrugged and we all laughed.
We were standing in the middle of the mall, ready for all the Black Friday sales.
We were going to separate though, the guys would shop for I don't know what, and we needed some bras, so we didn't feel like it's appropriate for all of us to go together.
"Make sure not to lose Ellie." Steve said at Rose and Laurel, making me gasp.
"Why would you think I would get lost?" I said just as Rose said, "Don't worry, we won't." And I glared at her.
"Because you're like a little child." Steve said and I crossed my arms.
"Well then make sure not to lose Ethan!" I said, trying to fire back, but failing.
Ethan gasped audibly, "Why do you have to choose me, Steve is the one who said you're a child."
"I obviously look like a man." Steve said, flexing his biceps and I snorted.
"And I'm obviously finished with this conversation." Laurel said and walked away.
Rose and I followed after her and the boys laughed as they headed the other way.
"This is too overwhelming, where do we start?" I sighed, my eyes scanning the area around us.
"Well, let's start somewhere where humans are not fighting for a spot to stand." Rose grimaced and Laurel and I nodded.
What is Aaron doing right now?
I bet he's making fun of Ethan.
Could he be flirting with someone? Alot of girls are here today.
He better not be flirting with anyone.
Why am I thinking about Aaron in the lingerie aisle?
Okay, but Aaron is super hot.
I wonder what it would be like to..
Oh no, I need to stop.
After a few hours of walking around the stores, we decided to find an empty place to sit, if that's possible in this mass of people.
"What are you thinking about?" Rose asked, looking at me, cutting off my trance.
"Huh?"
"Yeah, you've been thinking about something all day." Laurel narrowed her eyes at me, trying to figure me out.
"No, what are you talking about?" I chuckled nervously.
Dude, was it that obvious that I'm thinking about Aaron?
"There's just something that's been on my mind for a couple days.." I said, "No big deal."
"If it's not a big deal, why can't you tell us?" Rose replied and I sighed, giving in.
These two are my best friends, and I want to tell them. I can't keep it in to myself anymore.
"I'm not sure okay?" I started.
Laurel rolled her eyes, "Just say it already."
"I think I like Aaron." I blurted out, knowing they're going to start squealing any second now.
Rose and Laurel both looked at each other and then looked at me not saying anything.
What the heck?
"You think?" Rose snorted and my jaw dropped.
"What do you mean?" I huffed.
"You do like him Ellie, it's pretty obvious." Laurel said, shrugging.
"How so?" I crossed my arms.
"You two are always spending time together, you're always checking him out dreamily." Rose explained and I scoffed.
"I don't check him out." I replied, lying.
"What is he wearing today?" Rose said and I fell right into the trap.
"A black tee with ripped jeans and white Nikes." I said and then realized how dumb I am.
"I mean, you know, I think he's wearing white Nikes, I'm not sure really, I didn't check well enough to notice or anything." I said and then cursed as Laurel and Rose started laughing.
"Well, why do you think you like him?" Rose asked me and I explained alot of things to them including the two times we nearly kissed.
"Do you want anything to happen between you two?" Laurel asked me.
"Ugh," I groaned, "I don't know, I don't know if I can get into a relationship right now, or give everything I have to someone again."
"Don't rush yourself into anything, do what makes you happy." Rose said and I nodded as I gave her a smile.
I have been feeling alot better today than I have all week, and yesterday was a great Thanksgiving day with my family. I'm having chances at distraction and it's just what I need right now to forget last Saturday.
I feel myself grinning immediately at the sight of Aaron walking towards us with the rest of the boys.
He is so attractive, that it's not okay anymore. How am I supposed to just want him as a friend when he looks like a Greek god?
"Done shopping girls?" Joey asked and then he whistled upon the sight of the bags we have stacked on the table and we laughed.
"Yes, very done and tired." Rose said as the guys took a seat with us.
"And hungry." I added.
"Why didn't you get something to eat?" Ethan asked me, pointing at the fast food places behind him.
"Do you not see how crowded it is?" I rolled my eyes.
"We should probably all head home and just fucking sleep." Steve said and ironically, yawned.
"That's all you guys bought? Where were you the whole time?" Laurel gasped as she saw the three bags that Ethan was holding.
"We kind of left the mall.." Nathan shrugged.
"For real?" Rose raised her eyebrows and Nathan nodded.
Joey and Aaron have been sneakily whispering to each other for a couple minutes now, but I have no clue what they're saying.
"Hey, Oreo." Aaron said and my eyes snapped towards him quickly.
"I need you to explain something to me about uhh.." He stuttered, "chemistry, so maybe we could leave together and I'd drive you home."
Before I got a chance to reply, in which ofcourse I was going to say yes, Laurel and Rose rudely butted in.
"Yeah she will.."
"She'd love to."
I sent them a glare and looked back at Aaron who was looking at me, waiting for a response.
"Yeah, sure, I don't mind." I replied and Aaron grinned, "Okay, let's go."
Aaron and I stood up and waved to everyone as I grabbed my bags and then tried to make it out of the crowd alive.
"So here's the plan." Aaron said, putting his seat belt on as we just reached his car.
"What plan?" I replied.
"We'll get food, because you're hungry, and then I'll drive you home." Aaron explained.
"Oh no no, I'll just eat when I get home." I chuckled.
"There has to be some place around here." Aaron said, looking around for a drive thru I assume.
"I told you, it's not necessa-"
"And I told you, I want to get food with you." Aaron said and I sighed as I just nodded my head.
God, I love his car. I'm used to all these free rides with his smell lingering in the air.
Aaron found a Starbucks eventually, and we got some coffee and sandwiches.
"So I know it's still very early." Aaron suddenly started talking and my eyes snapped to my phone, and sure enough it is still seven thirty in the morning.
We were currently parked in front of Starbucks so we can finish our food.
"I was wondering if you'd like to come over, maybe?" Aaron continued and I looked at him guiltily. How will I go there again?
"Don't worry, mom hasn't been home for two days, we had the Thanksgiving dinner at our aunt's house." Aaron said and I gasped.
"How is Mason?"
"He's holding up, he said that he just wants her to be there for Christmas." Aaron said and I sighed sadly.
"I don't feel like being home alone right now, so I thought.. I could tell you?" Aaron continued and I smiled at him.
"Yeah, ofcourse I'll come." I said and Aaron's eyes lit up.
"Great, okay." Aaron said and looked away.
"Okay.." I said, awkwardly chewing on my cheese sandwich.
"I'll just call mom now, she's probably awake." I chuckled, my parents wake up way too early even if it's an off day.
I've been lying to them so much recently, and it's funny because I don't feel bad.
I told mom that we decided to all hangout for the rest of that day, and that I'll be home by dinner. At first, she didn't believe me, she knows we need alot of sleep but eventually, I convinced her and she gave in.
Once we were done with our food, Aaron drove us to his house and we walked silently to the building that I've grown to dislike because of his shitty mom.
She couldn't even show up for Thanksgiving? I truly hate this woman, my heart hurts for Aaron.
God, why do I like him so much? It's like I want him to be happy all the time.
"Suit yourself." Aaron said once he unlocked the door and I laughed.
"Hey, where can I charge my phone?" I asked Aaron, holding up my phone.
"My charger is in my bedroom." Aaron said and I nodded as I followed him there.
After I plugged my phone in, Aaron asked me, "Would you like to change into comfy clothes?"
"If there is any, I'd love that." I chuckled and Aaron nodded as he made his way over to his closet.
OH MY GOD. I DID NOT MEAN HIS CLOTHES.
I mean, I would love to put them on and smell them, but I'm too shy for this shit.
"I think this would go well on its own, you're too short." Aaron said and I pouted as he gave me a grey T-shirt.
"You're too short, blah blah blah." I rolled my eyes mimicking Aaron and he laughed.
"I'll just use the bathroom first.." I said and Aaron nodded, "Yeah, yeah go ahead."
When I went to the bathroom, I washed my makeup off, which took alot of work considering I don't have my face cleanser with me and I just used water.
After I changed my clothes, I went outside to ask Aaron for a face moisturizer.
Aaron was scrolling through his phone on the couch in the living room and I made my way over to him.
"Do you have any lotion around here, my face dries up quickly after I wash it." I chuckled, shaking my head.
"Yeah, sure, in my-" Aaron said and then stopped talking as he turned around and saw me.
I nodded encouraging him to continue but he didn't say anything as his eyes trailed up and down my body.
I fidgeted around the spot, feeling self conscious when Aaron's eyes lingered on my legs.
The T-shirt covered me pretty well, it reached just above my knees as did his hoodie last week.
"You're so pretty, Ellie." Aaron said and heat rushed to my face.
I wanted to say thank you but I knew Aaron doesn't like that so I just chuckled nervously and looked away.
"Come." Aaron smirked at me, sensing how shy I felt and I followed him silently to his room as he handled me some lotion.
"So, what do you want me to explain?" I asked Aaron as I swiped the lotion on my face and Aaron just furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"In chemistry." I added and Aaron finally understood.
"Oh yeah, about that." Aaron scratched his neck nervously.
"What?" I said and peered at him curiously.
"I don't need you to explain anything." Aaron said, finally looking at me.
"What do you mean?" I chuckled, confused.
"I just needed an excuse to bring you over." Aaron said and my heart started beating really fast.
"Oh.." I said, realization hitting me, "why didn't you just tell me that you wanna hang out?"
"I thought you'd say no." Aaron chuckled and I smiled cheerily.
"You're so cute!!" I exclaimed as I laughed, "Idiot."
"Don't say that." Aaron muttered, blushing, and then looked away.
"Look who's blushing now." I said obnoxiously and Aaron just ignored me.
"Let's watch Friends." Aaron said, getting up to walk outside and I laughed teasingly as I followed him.
