Chapter 7: YOU ALWAYS OVERTHINK

I got home worried.

To say I'm fucking worried in an understandment.

To say about Aaron is shocking.

I can't help it though.

The way that he went from laughing and smiling to getting angry and leaving worried me sick.

I watched Riverdale, fangirled, tweeted about how "OBSESSED I AM WITH THIS SECOND SEASON." but once I was done with that, I got worried again.

I just feel so bad.

Judging by how he looked when I mentioned his parents, I can't help but think it's a touchy subject for him.

Well, obviously.

And here I am torturing myself thinking about reasons why.

What if his parents passed away?

What if he doesn't have a strong relationship with them?

What if they're abusive or something?

I doubt two of these choices but anything can happen.

I'll tell him to go to his house when our next tutoring session happens, I need to find out.

Are you serious? That's what you care about? Knowing what is it? It's none of your business.

I feel really bad!

Sighing, I decided to just call him.

It's still eight and I'm home alone, might as well call him.

On the third ring, Aaron actually picked up.

"Ellie?"

"Yes, Hi."

"Hi? Is there something wrong?"

"What, I can't call you unless there's something wrong?"

"No, not at all, just never thought you'd be the one to make the first move.." Aaron said and I groaned, practically hearing his smirk.

That's how you know, he's back. When he smirks.

"I ain't making no moves Dumb Trump, I just wanted to say I'm sorry... "

"Sorry? For what?"

"Umm, well, you know how like today, you just left the library without saying anything and I feel like I said something wrong and I'm so sorry, I never meant to offend you or make you upset, I thought we were having a normal conversation, I didn't-"

"Ellie, what are you talking about?"

Huh.

"About today! When I asked you what your parents thought of 'Second' and you just never answered, you kind of just left and all and Aaron, I'm really sorry, I didn't know your parents passed away or maybe you just don't like them, I don't know, whatever it is."

It was silent for three seconds before Aaron started laughing.

What the hell?

"What in the name of god are you laughing about?" I exasperated, furrowing my brows though Aaron couldn't see my confused expression.

"God Ellie, you jump to conclusions super fast, is that why you called me?" Aaron replied, his laughter finally dying down.

"Yes?" I replied.

"Damn, you don't have to worry and overthink, seriously, you got it all wrong." Aaron told me.

Relief washed over me "Really?"

"Yes, ofcourse, I think I just got distracted thinking about a lot of shit I have to do, it's none of what you assumed." Aaron went on to explain.

"Oh thank god, okay then.. by the way, what am I supposed to do about that shit you wrote all over my notebook?" I said, trying to change the subject after I made a fool out of myself.

"About that," Aaron laughed, "just try to cross over it with a marker or something."

"Oh right, how come I didn't think of that? Thanks Dumb Trump."

"Call me that again and I swear to god Ellie.."

"Okay okay, I won't, only for today though." I replied, laughing a little.

"Whatever." Aaron sighed.

"Hey Ellie, I was gonna tell you tomorrow but can we do Chemistry on Sunday since my test is on Monday and I know practically nothing?"

"Yeah yeah, no worries. I just hope I can get everything through your thick head in a couple hours." I responded, as I took a seat on my bed. I was pacing back and forth nervously.

"Thick head? Puhlease Ellie, I'm a genius."

"Puhslease Dumb Trump, You're an idiot."

"I thought we agreed you don't get to call me that!"

"Oops, it must've slipped." I said smugly.

"Bitch." Aaron said, rolling his eyes.

Not that I can see him roll his eyes, I felt it in my soul.

I'm so dramatic.

Wait..

Did he just call me a bitch?

THAT BITCH.

"Before you start yelling, I'm not asking for your excuse to go, so I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" Aaron saved himself, I was ready to roast the shit out of him.

"Yes okay, bye."

"Bye."

I ended the call..

Well....

Not gonna lie, I'm super relieved though, my life just got easier now.

"So what do you think?" Steve asked, a hopeful look plastered on his face.

There is this new carnival that just opened in town last week, everyone is talking about it and Steve asked us if we can go tomorrow after school, instead of it being a boring Friday.

It wouldn't be boring for me though, I was planning on watching Gossip Girl and eating icecream, which dumbass says no to that?

"I think we should go honestly, it would be fun!" Ethan exclaimed.

"I agree." Joey said before turning to his girlfriend and continuing, "Would you like to go, we can hang out together if you don't want to."

"GOALS, FUCKING GOALS, WHY AM I SO SINGLE?!" I screamed.

Everyone laughed while Joey looked at me confused. A couple seconds later he understood what I meant.

"Oh, one day Ellie, just hang in there." Joey said.

"I will, I will." I answered, pretending to wipe off a tear.

Laurel laughed before saying, "Sure, I'd love to go."

"Count me in I guess." Nathan shrugged.

"I'm in too." Aaron added.

"Well?" Steve asked, looking at me and Rose expectantly.

"What?" I said.

"Are you guys going?" He asked.

"I don't know..." I answered, unsure.

I mean I want to but at the same time I'm not so sure, I don't know why, hanging out with people makes me nervous. I also don't believe it when someone wants to hang out with me. What if they're just being nice?

Remind me why am I like this?

"I'll go if you go." Rose told me.

"Come on Oreo, it'll be worth it." Aaron said.

He's been calling me Oreo since he found out I love oreos more than I love my mom earlier this morning.

"I heard they have free icecream for the first couple of weeks since it's new and everything." Nathan said to me.

"Plus, if you don't like it, we can just go home, y'know." Laurel added.

It's very sweet that they're trying to convince me to go so I don't think I can turn them down.

And what for? Maybe I should really step out of my comfort zone and hang out with people, and have some fun.

I have college next year for godssake and I still can't seem to make friends, that shouldn't be the case.

"Okay but how will I get there?" I eventually said, chuckling awkwardly.

"Laurel, Nathan, and I will all go in my car I guess." Joey informed me.

"I'll go alone so, anyone wanna come with me?" Steve asked.

"Yes! Rose would." I said smiling.

"No, I wouldn't." Rose argued, blushing while glaring at me.

She knows my plan.

How is he gonna like her back if he doesn't pick her up at her door to get her somewhere while they share music interests in the car?

"No it's fine Rose, just text me your address and I'll be there at five." Steve told her, smiling.

"Thank you." Rose murmured embarrassingly.

Seriously, their kids would look so cute!!

"So that leaves me." I said, looking disappointed.

Great! My plan won't work because now I have to go with Rose and Steve.

"You can come wi-" Steve said, only to be interrupted by Aaron

"With me." Aaron said, giving Steve a knowing look.

"Okay?" I replied, unsure.

Come on Ellie, it's Aaron, he's no harm.

"Okay." Aaron said smugly.

Knowing him, the jerk is already planning ways to annoy me.

"Great, it's all settled then." Nathan said, grinning.
