Chapter 6:

The Void410 words~3 min read

At some point, Clemmie went to me and requested a large opaque plaque that can store the heat. I didn't understand why he needed this. He beat around the bush for a while until I understood.

He needed an opaque plaque to make shadows and for it to store the heat so that The Void can be warm and plunged in darkness near the heater. I refused at first, I was still wary of The Void, especially since it can eat anything pretty easily.

But then Clemmie somehow made me agree with his sweet smile and a few flattering words. I mumbled things to myself and made him know that I didn't like what I was going to do.

However, I was secretly glad Clemmie explained himself the way he did. That at least meant he was not being possessed by The Void when he asked that.

And since it's Clemmie we're talking about, I didn't just put a plaque like he wanted. That would be too easy and unworthy of me and my genius. No, I made a desk where Clemmie can put more books and papers because the other one was collapsing under all the paperwork.

I made it so that under it The Void could stay in a warm box. I put a tunnel under the desk so that it could access the box directly from the corridor. I even put a door so that Clemmie could open it or close it if he wanted The Void to look at him or not.

So I put all of that in his office. Clemmie was the happiest he has ever been. He thanked me more than enough, he even hugged me. He told me he didn't ask for that much.

He asked me what he could do for me. I only told him to tell me honestly if he trusted The Void. He assured me he did and he gave me his word that he trusted it.

I looked at the corridor. It was empty and I could see the ground a little farther than before, the line between darkness and light was more blurry. I looked under the desk. The Void was already there. Clemmie asked if it liked it. The Void opened its pink mouth with a "ma".

This sound relieved me because I knew a little more about The Void and how it expressed itself. Perhaps Clemmie knew what it wanted by asking yes/no questions.
