Chapter 20

Domick had never told me he had a brother, and neither had Nick in the few days I had known him. They didn't even look alike. But he did say he was adopted.

Domick was way more attractive.

Sorry Nick.

I guess Nick could be considered attractive in a cute surfer dude type of way, with his shaggy blond hair and deep blue eyes. His wings even had a weird overlying shade of black that was like a curtain over his emotions.

Not as dark as Domicks wings, but definitely different than a normal persons.

So I guess in that way they seemed kinda related. Nick had even befriended me the moment we first met, like Domick. I didn't help that I was also the person who had to help show him around since our schedules were almost the same.

Domick's hand tightening on my waist brought my attention away from speculating about Nicks wings.

"What are you doing here" I was shocked by the way Domick was hatefully speaking to his brother.

Nick stared at me long enough for Domick to pull me closer to him, then finally spoke with a smirk. "Same reason you are."

Um, for education?

"I thought I would had more time than this."

They do know long school lasts, right?

"Well don't worry guys," I cheerfully started, trying to break the tension rising between them, "it's almost graduation so it won't take us much longer to finish school."

Nick suddenly laughed and looked over at Domick, "I can see why you haven't brought her in yet, these past few days have been fun ." He sobered up and started to stare deeply into my eyes.

"Seer?" He looked to be deep in thought and was starting to mumble to himself, "Hmmm, maybe, very peculiar eyes."

I must have given something away because his wings turned a greenish yellow to show his satisfaction at apparently solving something, and he clapped once. "So you are a seer, what can you see?"

How the eff-

I whipped around to stare at Domicks in betrayal, "You told him? And he didn't think you were crazy." I angrily whispered to him.

Domick just looked down at me then walked over to Nick, he leaned down to whisper softly into his ear. I couldn't hear what they were saying but after Domick backed off, Nick threw his head back and laughed.

"You are fucked my friend, well and truly fucked."

Domicks wings went from the emotionless black to angry red, real quick.

He grabbed my hand and started walking towards the library, but not before yelling back at Nick.

"Fuck off and leave me and my girl alone."

"You know I can't do that." Nick yelled back but we didn't reply.

Nick might have said that, but he did leave us alone in the library. In fact, we were the only ones in the library, except for the librarian who just sent us a wink when she saw it was us coming in.

We sat down on the couch in the corner and faced each other.

"Kira, I know you don't want to hear this just yet but now that Nick has arrived we seriously need to have this chat."

I sighed, "I know, it's just weird having someone else know and actually believe me about my 'gifts'. But I guess it is about time another person at least knows."

"As much as I want to have this conversation right now, I don't think we have enough time to go over everything here." Domick admitted. "We can but we'll have to skip school by claiming we're not feeling well or something in order to."

Answers right now or wait till later?

Duh. Right now!

I stood up, "Well, we better get going then." Domick smiled at my words and got up with me.

We told the nurse I was starting to feel like I was going to puke and Domick had a doctors appointment.

We ended up at our classic hangout area, the park, but this time no one was around. We sat down in the shade of a tree on the ground, Domick was the first to speak.

"I guess I should be completely honest with you and start from the beginning." Domick begin, "I'm not actually adopted, I was taken from my family when I was just a little kid, by the Council. Nick is not my actual brother, he just says that because we were raised the same way at the same place."

I gasped, "Wait, you were kidnapped? Did you escape? Did you make it back to your family? Where is your family, I thought you lived alone ? Who's, or what, is the Council?"

Domick shook his head in amusement at how fast my questions came out, "I'll answer one question at a time Kira. You see, I'm different, like you, so when they came to take me away I think my parents were relieved to get rid of me, they didn't know how to control me. I was technically kidnapped but it was probably for the best."

He scooted closer and put his hand over mine. "I'm not sure how they knew I was an 'abnormal', that's what we are called since we're not like a normal people, but I never really escaped from them because I didn't want to leave the people who could finally explain what I was. Then by the time I knew how they were just using me, it was too late to get out."

Domick shifted nervously as he prepared to say the next part. "I do live alone but it's just because I'm staying here for a short period of time for, well, you."

Me? Why?

"Is it because I'm also an 'abnormal'? Like you?" I wondered out loud.

"Yes, and we might both be abnormals but I'm a different type than you, there's three main types, you're classified as a seer, who of course can see things, but I'm called a berserker. You might not have noticed, but my muscles grow a bit when I'm feeling stronger emotions, and that is what classifies me as berserker."

"Oh, I've noticed." I whispered under my breath.

Oops, hope he didn't hear that.

Based on the satisfied smile now on his face, he did.

"Nick classifies as a brainiac, he's basically just really smart. But give brainiacs enough time and they can figure out anything. Of course, there can be other hidden talents in those three types, but that is what they are mostly know for."

"Now who's The Council?" I encouraged when Domick hesitated to answer my last question.

"Ah yes, the Council. Of course no normal people know about them, they basically are nonexistent until they're not, and that is when you know it's bad.  They just control abnormals, and even then us abnormals don't even know a lot about them." Domick leaned forward the longer he talked as if worried someone would overhear us.

Even though no one was even at the park.

"But some say it's the actual government in disguise, so they can experiment on us to try and gain our powers without alerting the people of the inhuman experiments and techniques used."

"You mean there's a whole secret society I didn't even know about?" I was shook.

"Yes, and I was sent here to bring you in to them."

"Sent here, by the Council? They know I exist?" How did they even know I was an 'abnormal', I didn't think anyone noticed me as a person let alone for having abilities.

"When they took me they trained me to 'fetch' people, and your description was on the paper they sent me for the person they wanted me to bring in. So here we are."

It's not like I have much here anyway, just Seth. My aunt would probably celebrate if I were to suddenly disappear.

"What would happen to me? Where do they want you to take me?" I was asking a lot of questions, but come on, I wanted to know everything about this 'secret society' that supposedly wanted me with them.

Domick sighed, pulled me into his arms, and put his head on top of mine. He didn't know it but I did, his wings also went to wrap around me. "That what I would like to know, they just tell me who to bring, not what they are going to do with them."

Right now I wish we could stay like this forever. Domicks arms and wings wrapped around me made me feel the safest I'd felt in a long time. Even after hearing I was probably in danger if brought to the Council.

I snuggled closer and my voice came out muffled with how tight I was pressed against him, "As long as we're together, I'm in."

I knew he would protect me.
