That night. Late at night. Elisabeth sneaks to the basement.
She reaches for the old box. The dusty box at the furthest corner. She dusts her hands. As she searches for the truth.
And late at night. She finds the truth.
Engraved on some documents she finds. The hard truth. The documents that show. Those that show she is not who she is.
She is adopted!
The documents show it. And it's the hardest truth. She sits on the hard floor. A tear runs down her cheek. Who is she?
She does not know herself anymore. Why does she not remember anything about her? Why does the life she lives suddenly seem dark? Why does she seem lost?
Why had she not seen this before?
Now she knows the truth. What will she do? As the morning draws in fast. She has not left the basement. And at the morning. Her parents search for her. And find her at the basement.
What they find is shocking. For she has known the truth. She does not belong to them. That's why they have mistreated her for so long.
She storms away. She does not speak to them. She storms off to her room. And locks herself in her room. She is not going to school today. She is not going outside today.
Elisabeth Simpson. The once ugly. She feels as though. She does not know herself anymore. And it's true. Whatever she had been told about her past suddenly feels empty. Everything seems faded.
Who is she? Who is the ugliest of them all?
