Chapter Fifty Three

That Monday is dark. Mostly to Lukas Scottville. The perfect of them all. For he does not see Elisabeth.

He wonders what might have happened. What might have happened to her.

And at break time. He walks to Chris. The new boy. "Hey! Where is Elisabeth?" He asks. And Chris turns slowly. "And why should I tell you? Who are you to her?" He asks. "I am her boyfriend." Lukas says.

"If she told you that then she lied. Because I'm the only one she loves." Chris says. He smiles. And his smile makes Lukas jealous. Even more jealous.

"I swear if you did something to her..." Before he can finish. Chris grabs him. By the collar. And looks into his eyes. With fury and danger.

"You don't scare me! And let this be the last time you shout at me!" Chris says. Then lets go of Lukas. Then comes Amber. Who touches Lukas' hand. And walks him out of there.

Down the hallway to their class.

And when they sit. She takes her  notebook. And writes. 'It's time you stopped fighting over someone who does not even care for you.'

And Lukas agrees. And hugs her. She is happy to be with him. To be close to him. But that is until Allison walks by them. And calls Lukas.

Amber William wonders. Why is Lukas with her? The meanest of them. All?

"Meet me tonight. At my place. We are going to the next step." Allison says. And when she leaves. Amber writes.

'What does she mean? What is happening between the two of you?'

"Don't worry. It's nothing that can hurt anyone. It's a long story." Lukas says. 'Be careful around her.' She writes.

And they both hug.
