i began writing taoff in september 2020, and finished it on the 6th of september 2021 while co-writing the following books in the series too
it was safe to say that this was a book entirely different to anything i've ever written before. first and foremost, i've never wrote a book that seemed so calm? if that's the right word. this was a love story; a journey of finding someone with the other half of your soul. for once, recovery was not at the forth front of this book.
it's necessary to point out that recovery is hard work. trauma can rip you open and leave you breathless and it's okay to lean on those around you. having people to support you can make all the difference.
having trust issues, regardless of wherever they stem from, can be hard. it took saint a long time to trust those around him, never mind fully trusting kareem with every part of himself. you don't owe anybody anything. you are who you are so be proud of yourself. be so relentlessly yourself that everybody else feels safe around you. the world needs your light. you don't owe anybody an apology for being who you are, regardless of what someone might try and tell you.
and finally, reach for your dreams. have the most insane and extraordinary goals and dreams and fight for them. fight for what makes you happy. your dreams are attainable and if you keep working at it, if you refuse to give up, you will reach them. there is no timeframe to success.
i hope you all loved these characters as much as i did. hendrix dexter; my queen, my wife. kezziah lewis (now murad); my darling. sacha clément; the insane dreamer with a tenacious heart. jem tait; the best friend who sticks by you through it all.
kareem murad. my soldier with a leather jacket and a bright smile to match. the man with the biggest heart and the even kinder soul.
and saint. my protonigst. my emblem of gay panic. the king of sarcasm and the king of my heart (shoutout to t swift x)
i hope to see you all back for the art of letting go whenever i manage to finish it.
thank you all for reading. whether you read half a chapter or got this far. your support means so much more than you could ever know. i wish you all the best, and hope your lives are filled with happiness.
all the love
A x
