The sound of King Phelan’s caravan drew nearer, a growing clatter of hooves and wheels echoing through the crisp morning air. The procession moved with precision, a formidable line of horse-drawn wagons and marching soldiers cutting through the dense forest. At the front, the King’s command wagon, an imposing structure carved from dark oak and reinforced with iron bands, led the column. Its wheels groaned under the weight of the King's authority, and the black banner that fluttered from its rear displayed the wolf emblem—its fierce, piercing gaze seeming to survey the land as if seeking prey.

Behind the command wagon marched the ranks of soldiers, their polished armor gleaming in the dappled sunlight. The sound of their boots striking the earth was rhythmic, a thundering pulse of disciplined power. The troop wagons followed closely behind, heavy with soldiers ready for battle, their horses strong and steady. Further back, the supply carts rattled over the uneven terrain, laden with provisions and equipment for the coming campaigns. Their creaking wooden frames groaned under their weight, but they held firm, determined.

The rhythm of the caravan was like the heartbeat of the earth itself—a steady march, a song of war. The hooves of the soldiers’ mounts grew louder as the column neared, reverberating through the trees, a foreboding reminder of the King’s immense power. The soldiers marched with unwavering focus, their gazes fixed straight ahead, their formation a clear symbol of the King’s unyielding rule. As they passed beneath the forest canopy, the air seemed to thrum with the weight of their presence.

The steady rumble of the caravan broke the silence of the camp, drawing the attention of the recruits and commanders alike. Eyes turned toward the clearing where the procession would soon emerge, every heart beating a little faster. The King’s arrival would not be ignored—his power would be felt in the very air around them.

As the caravan emerged fully from the forest, the King’s black steed led the procession, the rhythmic pounding of hooves echoing through the air. The group slowly advanced toward the command building, the soldiers standing rigid as the weight of His Majesty’s arrival settled over them. The King’s sharp eyes swept across the field, taking in every detail of the assembled troops and the training unfolding behind them. He observed the soldiers sparring, their weapons clashing with the rhythm of disciplined combat, while drill sergeants barked commands with precision. His gaze was steady, as though he had seen it all before, yet his presence alone seemed to demand perfection.

Finally, the caravan came to a halt in front of the command building. With a fluid motion, the King dismounted, his black cloak swirling around him as he landed lightly on the ground. His presence commanded the very earth beneath him, and the soldiers straightened at the sight of their ruler. His eyes, cold and calculating, scanned the scene before him—his troops, the training, and the preparations—ensuring that everything met his expectations.

As the King observed the training from the edge of the field, a figure approached, tall, broad-shouldered, and exuding an undeniable air of authority with each purposeful stride. Nathaniel, Warden of the Blood Moon Battalion, moved through the ranks like a force of nature. Each step was deliberate, powerful, yet there was a fluid grace to his movements—an animal awareness that set him apart from the other soldiers. He stopped before the King, his boots sinking into the earth with a quiet thud. His expression was one of respect, though beneath it, there was the unmistakable confidence of a man who had earned his place through battle and blood.

With a fluid motion, Nathaniel dropped to one knee, bowing deeply in reverence. His dark eyes remained lowered, his posture perfect—a physical manifestation of his dual allegiance to both the King and the Battalion.

"Your Majesty," he said, his voice low but unwavering, carrying a note of pride that even the King could not mistake. "The training has been completed. The results speak for themselves. The unity between our forces is stronger than ever, and the soldiers have become a truly formidable force."

Nathaniel’s gaze shifted to the leaders of the special forces—Lykos, Rahel, and Maile—pride flickering in his eyes. He paused, carefully weighing his words before continuing, his voice growing more assured.

"Our special forces unit, along with the newly formed archer squad, has exceeded all expectations. Under the leadership of Rahel, Maile, and Lykos, the coordination and discipline of our forces are beyond anything we could have hoped for. The combination of warriors and archers working together seamlessly was a sight to behold. The skills, the discipline, and their ability to communicate through the flag system—it has surpassed even my highest expectations."

The Warden took a step back, his expression one of gratitude and respect as he turned toward the King. "Your vision for this new force is already bearing fruit, my King. We have not only met the standards set but have far surpassed them. The special forces, and especially the archers, will be an invaluable asset to the kingdom."

The King’s gaze sharpened as he studied the forces before him—She-Wolves, archers, and male warriors, all standing together as one formidable unit. Today, he had come to witness something unprecedented, an experiment to forge a new kind of soldier. The Werewolf Special Forces, a company of elite warriors, both human and beast, combined with the sharp precision of the archers, were about to demonstrate their strength and skill in unison. The outcome would determine the future of his military.

"Show me what they can do," the King said, his voice low and measured, the command clear.

The officers swiftly moved to set up a mock battle exercise, each step calculated, the soldiers falling into position.

At the heart of this test were the newly appointed leaders: Rahel, Maile, and Lykos. These fresh commanders, once mere recruits, now commanded the Werewolf Special Forces platoons. It was their mission to prove themselves not only in strength and tactics but also through their leadership and the effective use of the new communication system.

From his vantage point atop a hill, the King observed the field below. Today, he would see if the rumors of his new force’s potential were true. Today, the destiny of the Kingdom would be decided on this field of battle.

The Battle Begins

The battlefield had been carefully prepared to mimic a small-scale tactical engagement, the opposing sides positioned at opposite ends of the training grounds. For this exercise, Maile, Rahel, and Lykos were to command the attackers, while the defenders were represented by a mix of soldiers from the King’s elite forces, seasoned warriors trained to withstand the fiercest of assaults.

Stolen story; please report.

The objective was clear: the attackers must break through the defensive line and seize a strategic point. But the real challenge lay in the execution. The attackers would communicate their orders through flag signals, replacing the traditional mind link, calls, and shouts, testing their ability to direct their forces with precision, clarity, and seamless coordination.

Rahel, as the lead commander of the attacking force, was the first to take action. She raised a green flag high above her head, signaling her forces to advance in tight formation. At the same time, Maile, the commander of the archers, raised a yellow flag, directing her archers to spread out and take up optimal positions to support the advancing assault.

Lykos, standing at the rear with his warriors and a select few who had shifted into wolves, raised a blue flag, directing his forces into a defensive formation. The movement was swift, practiced, and without hesitation, each warrior following their orders with exactitude. As they closed the distance to the enemy, those who had shifted into wolves did so once more, their senses sharpened and their bodies prepared for the brutal melee to come.

With a glance at his comrades, Lykos ensured everything was in place. His warriors, firm and unyielding, took their positions with disciplined precision, each knowing their part in the strategy. They stood in readiness, waiting for the signal to unleash their fury. The plan was simple: the archers would first rain down arrows to soften the defenders' lines, opening the way for the warriors to strike with overwhelming force. Every soldier was on edge, anticipating the signal to engage.

Rahel raised her red flag, signaling her forces to halt just as they reached the edge of the enemy’s defense. She then lifted a white flag, her signal for Maile’s archers to unleash their volley. The archers, trained to respond with deadly efficiency, released a barrage of arrows, their shafts whistling through the air and striking their targets with unerring accuracy. The defenders were momentarily pinned down, their lines faltering under the assault.

Rahel, spotting an opening, raised a purple flag, signaling her forces to advance once more. The attackers surged forward, pressing the advantage. However, the defenders quickly re-positioned, preparing to counterattack.

Rahel raised an orange flag, signaling for a flanking maneuver. Lykos, his eyes sharp and instinctive, raised his black flag in response, directing his warriors to circle around and strike from the side. The defenders, caught off guard by the sudden assault from two directions, scrambled to defend themselves.

Meanwhile, Maile kept her keen eyes on the battlefield, observing the ebb and flow of the conflict. She saw an opportunity to strike at the enemy’s leaders. She raised her striped red-and-yellow flag, signaling her archers to launch a coordinated attack aimed directly at the defenders’ command. The defenders faltered, unable to respond quickly enough to the flurry of arrows, their ranks disorganized as their leaders were picked off one by one.

But the defenders were not easily broken. They quickly regrouped and raised their own flags to signal a counteroffensive. Rahel, recognizing the need to reassess, raised a blue-and-white flag, ordering her forces to retreat and reassess their strategy. Lykos followed with a green flag, directing his warriors to cover the retreating forces, while Maile’s archers harassed the enemy from a distance.

After a brief pause, the attackers reformed and readied themselves for another push. Rahel raised her purple flag, signaling the charge. Maile, ever vigilant, raised a white flag, calling for another volley of arrows. The defenders, weary from the continuous pressure, began to falter. The combined might of the warriors, wolves, and archers finally overwhelmed them, and the attackers surged forward, capturing the strategic point.

As the exercise neared its end, the King strode forward, his gaze sweeping over the assembled soldiers and wolves. His eyes were filled with approval as they stood in perfect formation. Sweat glistened on their brows, and the marks of their trials were evident, but there was no sign of faltering. The bond they had forged through this training was clear in their unwavering posture.

The King took a moment to survey them, his gaze steady and calculating. He nodded solemnly, then spoke, his voice deep and commanding, rich with approval.

“Well done, all of you,” he said. “Your training has been long, grueling, and fraught with hardship. Yet you have proven beyond doubt that the Werewolf Special Forces are no longer a mere concept. You are a united force, forged in the crucible of battle, and now ready for the trials that lie ahead.”

The warriors stood straighter, their pride swelling at the King’s words. His approval was a powerful reward, signaling their readiness for the challenges to come.

The King then turned to the commanders. “Rahel, your command has been both sharp and wise. Maile, your mastery of the archers is unmatched. And Lykos, your warriors stand firm and deadly in battle. Together, you form the very heart of this battalion.”

“There is always more to learn, and much yet to refine,” the King’s voice softened, carrying wisdom. “But on this day, you have shown you are ready to lead the Werewolf Special Forces into the fray. Trust in each other and the might of your warriors.”

As the King’s words rang out, the three commanders exchanged a glance of silent understanding. Though today was a victory, they knew the true test of their leadership—and their soldiers’ strength—awaited in the crucible of battle.

With that, the King turned and walked away, leaving them standing as one upon the battlefield. The mock battle had ended, but their journey as leaders was only beginning. They would rely on one another, growing stronger together as a team, ready to lead their platoon through the trials to come.

Shortly after the King departed for the command building, Captain Koyla approached them, her steps firm and measured, followed by omegas carrying shields and cloaks bearing the new Blood Moon Special Forces coat of arms emblazoned on both shields and cloaks.

“This,” Captain Koyla said, her voice solemn, “is a symbol of your commitment. Should you wish, you may emblazon our coat of arms upon your shoulders, a permanent reminder of the duty you now bear.”

Beside her, First Sergeant Stephi spoke up. “Additional shields and cloaks are being distributed to your troops as we speak.”

The new shields and cloaks carried the weight of responsibility, a reminder that loyalty and service were not for officers alone, but for all who stood beneath them. The bond of unity that held their company together was as strong as steel, and with these, each soldier would bear the same pride and purpose into the battles to come.

First Sergeant Stephi then called forward another omega, who carried three additional cloaks. They were handed to Rahel. These cloaks were slightly different from the others. In addition to the Blood Moon coat of arms, they bore the healer's symbol—an emblem of care, wisdom, and resilience—marking the importance of healing and restoration even in the midst of war.

"Your platoon healer and two field apothecaries have just completed their combat training and will join your ranks," Stephi explained. "Make certain that quarters in your barracks are ready to receive them upon the morrow. You will also need to bring them up to speed on your battle tactics and methods of communication, so they can tend to the wounded with speed and skill during the fray."

"See that they are prepared for what lies ahead," First Sergeant Stephi added, her voice unwavering. "The kingdom shall need all of you... and they must be ready for any trial that awaits."

Her tone was practical yet resolute as she underscored the need to integrate the new healers into their ranks. The trio now carried the heavy burden of leadership, but also the duty to ensure the healer team was equipped to act swiftly and decisively amidst the tumult of battle. The added symbols upon their cloaks served as a constant reminder of their charge—not only to lead their warriors to victory but to protect the lives of those under their command and preserve the strength and unity of their army. The well-being of both their female and male soldiers, as much as their triumph in combat, depended on their vigilance, preparedness, and resolve.
