21- First Date

Bella's POV

"Invite Ashton too"

Those words kept ringing in my head over and over. Earlier today my dad told me that out annual family dinner to celebrate our grandparent's wedding anniversary is going to be held at our house. I was really happy, but my happiness was replaced with fear when my dad said I should invite Ashton.

Ashton meeting my family is my worst nightmare, I love Ashton and I know he's gonna do great, maybe. What I'm scared of is my family, they are very overprotective and sometimes it can be annoying.

I don't think Ashton would like to meet them, I don't think I would like for Ashton to meet them.

They might question him too much or just make him super annoyed.

"Did you hear what I said?" Ashton's deep voice snapped me out of my reverie.

"Yes, I did" I lied.

"No you didn't, is something wrong?" He asked, shifting closer to me on the bed.

"No everything's fine" I lied again.

"Look at me and tell me what's going on" He said, turning my face towards him.

"Ok. Will you come to my annual family dinner with me on Saturday?" I asked, his expressions changed and he let go of my face.

"Why do you what me to come?" He asked.

"My dad told me to invite you, I think he wants you to meet my family" I said, holding his hand.

"You don't have to come i-" I said, but he interrupted.

"It's no problem, I'll come" He said smiling at me. But that smile wasn't genuine, I could tell he was faking it.

"Ok" I said, hugging him.

"What's your favorite thing about California?" He asked. I wonder where that's coming form.

"I don't know... The eateries" I said.

"I think you have an unhealthy obsession with food" He laughed.

"Have you ever been on a date before?" He asked.

"Yes, it was at a French restaurant not too far from my home" I said. "I liked it but my idea of a first date was a lot different from that" I added.

"What do you want it to be like?" Ashton asked, stroking hair.

"I want it to be simple. I want it to be at the beach, with magical lights. Under a shade with home made foods like Frittata, pasta, Spanish omelette and quiche. I want it to be like a picnic but at night." I said.

"It's n-" Ashton's ringtone interrupted. He left my room and answered it, weird. He never leaves my room when he wants to answer his phone, maybe it's something private.

"I have to go, I'll see you tomorrow" He said before leaving.

I nodded placing my head on the pillow thinking about how Ashton meeting my family would turn out. It's most likely for it to turn out great, but there's also a slight possibility it won't.

...

It's Friday. The day before Ashton meets my family and also the day that makes it three weeks that I've been dating Ashton!

I can't believe it'll soon be our one month anniversary, I can't wait.

Today had been quite boring nothing special, the only thing that made it quite fun was the fact that Ashton has been acting really excited through out today. To be honest, it's scary because he never gets excited easily seeing him excited is scary.

Stella has also been throwing daggers my way with her witch eyes. I've tried to ignore it, though it's a little hard. Matt has also been acting not himself, he looks angry and so unapproachable, it bothers me because he's my friend and I care about him but I guess I'm too scared to ask him if he's ok.

Jessie and Spencer are in a major fight after Spencer kissed another girl or according to Spencer she kissed him, I really don't know and I don't feel like I have to care too much because they both don't really seem serious about their relationship. One day she's with Spencer and the next she's single again.

As for Aubrey, the universe has been taking it hard on her. She's going through a major heartache after finding out Brent has a girlfriend who he had known for nearly three years and has been dating for nearly four months. Although I don't know what it's like for the person you like to date another girl, I can still feel her pain.

Liana has been dating way too many guys for the sake of experience, I've dated someone longer than she's dated anyone but I feel like she has more experience than me.

Another shocking news that showed up this morning is, Becky is pregnant and her parents want her to have an abortion, she also doesn't know who the father is and wants to blame it on David because he was her last boyfriend. It's very confusing, I don't really talk to David as much as Aubrey but I don't think he can do such a thing with her.

All this shows how crazy this summer has been, another news that showed up this week, the greatest of all is I have been accepted into three different universities, two in New York and one in California. I'm really happy about that.

"Hey" Ashton said from behind me. I smiled and faced him.

"Hi" I said, placing my hands on his shoulder.

"Be ready before eight tonight were going out" He said.

"To where?" I asked.

"It's a surprise" He said, kissing my forehead before walking away.

I hate how he always puts me in suspence. I just hope whatever we're doing today is fun. Who am I kidding every moment with him is always fun.

...

"Girls!" I yelled, immediately Aubrey and Liana were in my room.

"I'm going somewhere with Ashton tonight, I need to look pretty. Show me what you got!" I said and they began to pick out outfits.

The first outfit was a short white gown with diamonds on it, I don't like this gown for two reasons, it's too short and too shiny and I'm not getting married.

"No, I need something casual. I don't want to make it seem like I'm trying too hard" I said.

After an eternity they were finally able to find something I'd like to wear. It was a pink oversized cardigan, black jeans and white snickers, I pulled my hair into a ponytail with loose strands falling at the side. Very cute.

"It's cute" Aubrey said in awe.

"It's too casual, you need to look expensive" Liana suggested, I shook my head as a sign of disagreement. Just in time my phone vibrated with a text from Ashton saying he was waiting outside for me.

"I think he's here, I'm scared!" I said, nervously.

"I've been on tons of dates so I know what to do. First things first, don't ever compliment him, tell him his breath smells funny and if he offers you his jacket tell him it smells bad" Liana said.

"Sure I'll do that, it might not actually be a date" I said.

"What type of guy tells a girl to go out with him at this time of the day if it's not a date?"

"Ashton is different from other guys" I said before leaving. Luckily dad isn't home yet so that's a good thing.

"Hi" I greeted Ashton immediately I saw him.

"Hey, you look amazing" He said, making me blush.

"You look handsome" I said.

"Let's go" He said, leading me to the car. Immediately we were in the car he spoke up.

"I think you forgot something" He said.

"What?" I asked, confusedly.

He tapped his cheek with his finger. Ohh.. The kiss.

I leaned closer to kiss his cheek, when my lips were about to touch his cheek. He immediately turned towards me and his lips met mine. Creating a crowd of butterflies in my stomach.

I smiled as we pulled away and he started driving.

I never knew driving to whatever place he was taking me would take so long. We've been on the road for over thirty minutes and still haven't gotten to the place he was taking me.

"Are we there yet?" I asked for the hundredth time in the last thirty minutes.

"No, we'll be there soon don't worry" He replied.

I sighed and placed my head on the window preparing to sleep.

"Wake up" Ashton said, as he shook me.

I scratched my eyes open and surveyed my surroundings, we were at the beach.

"What are we doing here?" I asked.

"Your dream date" He answered. A smile immediately made it's way to my face when I saw the little shade that he set up.

"Oh my gosh! Are you serious?" I asked, still perplexed by what just happened.

I ran to the shade that he set up, everything looked just the way I imagined it. The fairy lights were wrapped around the wooden shade a blanket was placed on the sand and the picnic basket was lieing on it.

"Don't tell me you got all the food I requested" I said, immediately I felt his presence besides me.

I opened the basket where the frittata, Spanish omelette, pasta and quiche was. It looked like we were having breakfast but I don't care.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

"I love it!" I said, hugging him tightly. "Thank you" I said.

"Let's eat before it gets cold" Ashton said, pointing at the food.

Our first date yesterday was amazing, I can't believe I actually had my dream date. I never thought that was possible but I guess it is.

Today Ashton is meeting my family, I'm very happy but also super nervous. Happy because I get to see my cousins, nervous because Ashton is meeting them.

"Are you ready?" I asked, holding Ashton's hand. His hand was fidgeting which means he's nervous.

"It's gonna be fine" I assured him. He nodded and stepped into the house.
