as the wind swept my shoulder blades and threw my hair back from around my neck, i ducked my face out of the window of the rushing car, looked up at the cold starry sky and screamed at the top of my lungs. i was trying to call out to the stars to ask them if they would like to join my company.
he looked at me and smiled the kind of smile that made me think whether he was mocking me or was amazed by me. â you don't have to scream. you are high enough for them to hear your whispers. â
â i'm high, you say. is that why i feel like i'm falling at times? â
â you never fall though. â
â what if i do? what if i fall too deep for the stars or you to catch me? â
â if you fall, then think that you've been temporarily transformed into a bird. â
â a bird never falls. â
â it might not look like it but a bird is constantly falling until it learns to collect wind in its wings. â
