Chapter 253 Ken had just returned to the country, and he did not know much about recent events, but he could feel the loneliness in Oliviaâs tone and her eyes.
âMrs. Freeman, John really cares about you.â
Hearing this, Olivia forced a smile. âKen, I am afraid that few people can bear the way he cares about them.â
âIf captivity, humiliation, and betrayal are concerns...â
âMrs. Freeman...â
Before Ken could finish speaking, Olivia raised her hand to signal for him to stop speaking. âTell the police to let the man from just now go. Zyâs vitals werenât harmed, so just forget it.â
âBut...â
âHe was desperate.â After saying that, she pulled the quilt over Zyla. âThat man wanted to commit suicide.â
âSuicide?â
Ken was taken aback. Then, he nodded. âOkay. Iâll talk to the police.â
âThanks.â
Ken felt very uncomfortable when he saw Olivia acting so distant around him.
âMrs. Freeman, Iâm your friend too, not just Johnâs. Iâll help whoever I feel is more reasonable, not whoever Iâm closer to. Donât treat me like this.â
Olivia just smiled gently. âYou should go back. Iâll be fine here.â
He knew he could not convince her, so he nodded and left.
Olivia was very tired, so she groggily fell asleep beside Zylaâs bed shortly after Ken left.
She was woken up by her phone at midnight.
When she woke up, she suddenly realized that she had returned to her ward.
Who had sent her back?
The phone stopped and rang again. Olivia finally went over to get her phone in a daze.
âOlivia.â
When she heard this familiar deep and alluring voice, she jolted awake.
âWhatâs up?â
âOlivia, whatâs with this attitude? Have you forgotten who you are?â
âMr. Freeman, you called me in the middle of the night to disturb my sleep. What attitude do you think I should have?â
John, who was on the other end of the phone, was startled as if he did not expect Olivia to retort his words.
However, he instead said coldly, âMust you talk to me like this?â
Olivia felt uncomfortable. When she heard his voice, her first reaction was to assume that he had heard about the dayâs events and was calling to ask about her.
However, when she heard his second sentence, she began to scold herself.
How could he care about her?
He was not there when she was on the brink of death, so how could such a trivial matter alarm him?
âYes, Mr. Freeman.â
Oliviaâs cold and alienated attitude made John very upset. He wanted to rush over to find her, but he held himself back.
âYou planned to stay in the hospital for a long time, so why arenât you minding your own business? Stay in the hospital obediently. Iâm not done with you yet.â
After hearing this, Oliviaâs tears flowed down her cheeks again against her will. Her heart felt so heavy.
He used to love her so much, but now he did not even have a word of condolence to spare for her.
Indeed, all he cared about was Dorothyâs kidney, not their relationship.
She bit her lip and held back her sobs. âJohn, if you want to talk to me about Dorothy, Iâm sorry, but Iâm not interested.â
After that, she hung up, pulled up the quilt, and cried while hiding underneath it.
On the other end of the call, John jerked his head away and asked after listening to the busy tone, âWes, why do I always feel like Iâve forgotten something?â
Wes was taken aback. âSir, you hit your head in a car accident two years ago, and the doctor at that time said that you might suffer from amnesia.
âBut, sir, you didnât lose your memory at that time. You remember everything.â
âAmnesia?â
John frowned. âWhy donât I remember this?â
âYou donât remember?â
âI donât remember the doctor saying that I would lose my memory.â
Wes was sorting out documents when he suddenly froze. âSir, how much do you. remember about Madam?â
