Chapter 701 âFake?â
Olivia looked at Zac in disbelief. âBut it sounded like Dorothy, and it was from a recording device...â
Zac smiled and grabbed her hand, pulling it to the front of the computer. Then, after a few clicks of the mouse, he was playing the recording.
âDorothy, are you asking to die? Do you believe that Iâll kill you?â
Olivia was stunned when she heard that. She pointed at the computer and said, âT-thatâs my voice.â
âYeah. This is a synthesizer, so I can fake anyoneâs voice if I wanted to.â
Olivia looked as if she had discovered a new continent. She laughed. âThis is amazing! You can pass this off as genuine.â
Zac chuckled and replied, âOf course, so we canât use the recording as evidence in court. This is why.â
âI see.â
However, her expression darkened. âHowever, the recording she got of US is real...â
âDonât worry. She didnât record much.â
âHow?â
Zac pointed at a small black box on the desk. âI installed a signal disruptor. But it was just a coincidence. I didnât think there would be a bug in the study.â
Speaking of this bug, Olivia frowned. âWho do you think planted this?â Zac pulled a chair over and let her sit. Then, he took a sip of his soup.
âNot a lot of people come into this study.
âIt canât be US, and it canât be Mrs. Simmons. Ken...â
Olivia shook her head. âKen wouldnât do something so heinous. Who else could it be?â
Zac looked at her meaningfully and did not say anything.
Everything he wanted to say was in his silence.
To be honest, the answer was clear.
However, Olivia was subconsciously trying to protect this person, hence she excluded her.
After she thought about it, Oliviaâs expression changed, and her voice shook. âIs it... Jennie?â
Zac turned the computer and played a video. Coincidentally, Jennie had come in to look for him. While she was speaking, the video recorded her placing a bug under the desk.
âI didnât install the surveillance. It was put in during the renovation. You know that as a lawyer, I need to bring home a lot of documents. I was worried that someone would want to steal my clientsâ information, so thatâs why I installed it.â
As he said that, Zac exhaled. âHowever, I didnât expect Jennie to be the first one to be recorded committing a crime.â
Olivia stared at the screen. The more she looked at it, the more disconnected she felt. The more she stared at it, the dizzier she became.
It was as if she did not know this woman.
They fought before, and they fought until they sold the house, but...
Why did Jennie betray her?
She could understand the fight. Olivia understood, even when Jennie hated her so much that she sold the house and wanted to part ways with her.
However, Olivia could not understand why Jennie wanted to side with Dorothy to harm her. She also could not forgive Jennie for doing so.
She never expected or hoped to trust and carry burdens with Jennie just as she did with Zy.
However, she did not expect the friend she genuinely liked for the past four years to betray her for a man.
Coincidentally, Ken found them and pushed the door open.
âYouâre all here. I...â
âKen Lucas!â
Olivia stood up and walked toward Ken. She questioned. âWhat did you feed Jennie? Why did she betray me for you?â
Ken was stunned. He pointed at himself and pointed at Olivia, stammering, âWhat are you saying? Betraying you for me?â
âDid you know Jennie before this?â
âNo...â
Before Ken could finish, Olivia stopped him sternly. âYouâd better think it through before answering.â
