GILDED YOUTH .172 words~1 min read

sweet baby angel I admire you

from afar with your

rosy cheeks

and warm honey smile,

and I wonder why you look so happy when I know the blossoms of your garden are falling. you crush them beneath your bare peach limbs and then wonder why the sun is no longer kissing your cramoisy hair. and it's because you're not the same. mercury is dripping from your eyes, and i see you wipe it away with the back of your wrinkled hand as if nothing happened. i know you feel the pain when you stand on childhood beaches with angry tides slicing at your ankles, soaking your chiffon dress in cherry soda. my love can you not hear the sun weeping 'why do have to be so selfish?' when you gobble the moon between your pale teeth and pomegranate tongue. you have eyes of empty raven nests and hair of silver gossamer web. oh sweet baby angel i think the sky would still be blue if you hadn't grown up so fast.
