Chapter 361
âWhat exactly are you trying to do?â Jordyn demanded.
Rebecca smiled with satisfaction. âMs. Cheatham, donât be upset. Iâm here to help you.
âHelp me?â Jordyn looked at Rebecca as if she had just heard a bad joke, her gaze tinged with sarcasm. âWhat exactly can you do to help me?â
âHelp you become Mrs. Jordyn Sumner, of course,â Rebecca replied.
âWeâre already married. Do you want to see the marriage certificate? âJordyn shot back.
Rebecca regarded her indifferently, her tone light and airy. âAside from that piece of paper, what else do you have? As far as I know, none of the Sumners, including Clark, seem to take you seriously.â
Jordyn clenched her hands tightly, her expression falling.
âMs. Austen, perhaps you should focus on your issues. Iâve heard your family background isnât exactly impressive. Whether you can secure that piece of paper is another matter entirely!â Rebeccal hissed.
Rebeccaâs calm demeanor faltered slightly, her gaze growing colder. âIt seems youâre not interested in polite conversation.â
âI have nothing to say to you,â Jordyn retorted.
Rebecca nodded. âFine. Then letâs discuss Holden Vance.â
Jordynâs face went pale at the mention of Holden. Her gaze shifted. to Rebecca, filled with disbelief. She knew about Holden!
Jordynâs hands trembled uncontrollably in fear.
Rebecca smiled with satisfaction. âDonât be scared, Ms. Cheatham. As long as you listen to me, I can not only get the Sumners to acknowledge you but also keep your secret hidden.â
Jordyn remained silent, her gaze lowered as she appeared lost in thought.
Rebecca waited patiently, sipping her tea with a hint of mockery.
After some time, Jordyn finally looked up, clearly tempted. She craved the Sumnersâ recognition.
Although she was married to Clark, the Sumners had never
requested to meet her, and Clark didnât seem to care about her either.
Jordyn wasnât naïve. She knew that Clark might cast her aside once she had the baby. She needed to plan for herself.
âCan you really help me?â she asked.
Rebecca nodded. âOf course.â
After a moment of hesitation, Jordyn relented. âOkay, Iâll do it. What do I need to do?â
âYou saw the photo of Clark with Nyla this morning, right? Use your status as Clarkâs wife to make this public, showing that Nylat deliberately interfered in your marriage with him,â Rebeccal instructed.
Jordynâs eyes turned icy. âBlowing this up wonât benefit me at all.â
Even though she was married to Clark, many people remembered her previous role as his mistress, and Nyla had evidence.
If this situation became widely known, she wouldnât be pitiedâsheâd be publicly criticized.
âNo wonder youâve been with Clark for so long and still canât even get into the Sumnersâ circle,â Rebecca remarked.
Her sarcastic tone made Jordyn scowl. âYou think this idea of yours is so brilliant?â
Rebecca looked impatient. If it werenât for her own constraints, she wouldnât want to waste time on this selfâimportant fool.
âVery few people know about your marriage to Clark, so the Sumners havenât acknowledged you. But once everyone knows about your marriage and your pregnancy with Clarkâs child, the Sumners will have no choice but to acknowledge you, no matter how unhappy they might be,â Rebecca coaxed.
âAnd if things blow up, the Sumners will be embarrassed too. Do you really think theyâll let me off the hook?â Jordyn shot back.
