Chapter 378
Ignoring Harrisonâs reaction, Nyla turned and left without another word.
Behind her, Wren exclaimed, âHarrison, calm down. Take deep breaths. The doctor said you canât get agitated!â
Nyla hesitated briefly but didnât look back. She took a deep breath and walked straight out of the hospital room.
As she reached the hospital entrance, Gabriel caught up to her.
âNylaâ¦â He blocked her path. âYour fatherâs not in good health right now. He canât handle stress. Please, try to understand.â
Nyla shot him a cold glance. âUnderstand him? Whoâs going to understand me?â
She had risked her life to put Cyrus away, only for Harrison to undo it all.
To him, she probably no longer mattered. Before marrying Wren, he had promised to put her first. Now, it seemed Wren meant more to him than she ever had.
âI know youâre upset,â Gabriel said gently. âBut your father did this to protect you. You canât take on the Sumners by yourself. Youâd only end up in danger.â
Nylaâs expression remained icy. âWhether thereâs danger or not is my choice to make. No one else has the right to decide for me.â
Gabriel sighed. âOne day, youâll understand why your dad did what he did.â
âSave your breath until that day comes,â Nyla retorted.
She shoved him aside, opened her dar door, got in, and drove off
Gabriel frowned as he watched her car disappear into the distance.
Back in the hospital room, Harrison still hadnât calmed down, his face twisted in anger.
Wren gently patted his back and glanced at Gabriel. âHow did it go? Is Nyla still mad?â
Gabriel pressed his lips together, speaking in a low voice, âIâll talk to her again when I get home.â
âNo need!â Harrison snapped. âIf she doesnât want to acknowledge me as her father anymore, fine. I wonât go after her. She can do whatever she wants!â
Seeing Harrison getting worked up again, Wren quickly interjected. Harrison, donât get upset. Nyla is still a child, she
âChild? Sheâs nearly 30! When is she going to grow up?!â Harrison huffed.
âAlright, alright, calm down. If you pass out again, youâll end up back in the ER,â Wren coaxed gently.
Gabrielâs expression remained indifferent as he glanced at Harrison âItâs getting late. I should head backâ
âGo ahead, and be careful on your way home,â Harrison replied
After leaving the hospital, Gabriel got into his car and drove home, determined to speak with Nyla again.
Meanwhile, Myle hed just arrived at her building when she received a call from Willer
Ms. Jayston, regarding Cyrusâ case, I heard youâre planning to drop the charges? William inquired.
Nyla lowered her gaze, pausing for a few seconds before quietly replying, âYes, Mr. Harwell. Thank you for your help. Please proceed with withdrawing the charges. Iâll transfer the legal fees shortly.â
âMs. Jayston, why are you dropping the charges? With the evidence youâve provided, our chances of winning are much stronger now. It would be a shame to give up at this point,â William urged.
âNo, Iâve made up my mind. I donât want to pursue this anymore. Please help me withdraw the charges,â Nyla insisted.
She ended the call and immediately transferred the legal fees to William.
Tossing her phone onto the passenger seat, she slumped forward against the steering wheel, consumed by despair and an
overwhelming sense of helpless rage.
