Chapter 690
As Valarie reached the entrance, Brandon stepped in front of her again. âValarie, are you avoiding me?â
Valarie rolled her eyes. âMr. Sumner, weâre not close. Please call me Ms. Weir. No, Iâm not avoiding you. I just donât want to deal with you.â
âWhy donât you want to deal with me? Is it because Iâm too handsome and youâre afraid of accidentally falling for me?â Brandon asked.
Valarie was momentarily speechless, then huffed. âYouâre so full of yourself!â
âSeriously, Iâve been chasing you for five years now. What exactly donât you like about me? Just tell me, and Iâll change!â Brandon pleaded.
Valarieâs heart skipped a beat as she looked into Brandonâs serious eyes, and she quickly averted her gaze. âOkay, then tell me what you like about me. Iâll change that too.â
âI like that you donât like me,â Brandon countered.
Valarie raised an eyebrow as she replied, âThatâs a hard one to change. Maybe you should pick something else to like.â
âNo can do. From the moment I met you, I knew I was stuck. You owe me an answer. Otherwise, I wonât give up,â Brandon insisted.
His stubbornness left Valarie feeling helpless, and she frowned. âBrandon, weâre not right for each other. Even if you keep chasing me for another five years, I wonât be with you. Besides, there are plenty of people who like you. Maybe you should focus on someone else.â
Brandonâs gaze turned cold. âHow can you know if weâre right for each other if youâve never even tried? You havenât dated anyone in the past five yearsâwhy wonât you give me a chance?â
âI havenât dated anyone because I wasnât interested. My family has already set me up for a blind date,â Valarie told him.
Her words hung heavily in the air between them, creating a tense atmosphere.
Brandonâs face tightened, and a storm brewed in his eyes. âFine! Youâd rather go on a blind date than give me a chance. I get it. But just so you know, if I ever bother you again, Iâm a fool!â
He stormed off, his entire posture radiating anger.
Watching him walk away, Valarie pressed her lips together and slowly headed outside.
They werenât right for each other, so this was the right decision. As for those fleeting moments when her heart fluttered, she would just pretend they had never happened.
Back in his car, Brandon stomped on the gas pedal, speeding off. He had finally learned that the saying about how the prettier the women were, the colder their hearts tended to be, was true.
Suddenly, a cold voice echoed from the back seat. âSlow down. I donât want to die in your car.â
Startled, Brandon swerved, narrowly avoiding an accident. His driving skills, combined with the empty

road, were the only things that saved him.
After regaining his composure, he glanced in the rearview mirror and saw Damon. âUncle Damon, what are you doing in my car?â
âMy carâs in for maintenance,â Damon replied.
Brandon fell silent. So he was meant to be the chauffeur tonight?
Just as he was about to turn the car around, an idea crossed his mind. âUncle Damon, want to grab a drink together?â
Damon looked at him, asking, âGot your heart broken?â
Brandon stiffened and gritted his teeth. âItâs not a breakup if we never dated. By the way, if you know any suitable women, introduce me. Iâm ready for blind dates.â
If Valarie could go on blind dates, so could he. In fact, heâd go on three a day just to outdo her.
Realization struck Damon as he asked, âRejected by Valarie again?â
âCan we not talk about her? Iâve moved on. Iâve made up my mind,â Brandon muttered.
âOkay,â Damon replied.
Brandon frowned when he saw how calm Damon was. âUncle Damon, Iâm serious this time. If you introduce someone, Iâll definitely go meet them.â
âHavenât you said this at least ten times before?â Damon shot back.
