"Before i met you, i never knew what it was like to look at someone and just smile for no reason."

Jaimie-mae didn't make it to the hospital that Thursday, so she waited for Tuesday to roll around so she'd be free to visit the boy, Fabian, to see how he was doing.
As she stepped into the hospital, a familiar feeling came down over her and she felt herself want to cry and scream. She hated hospitals with a passion. But she had a huge respect for the staff that worked tirelessy to help people. People like herself.
She took deep breaths and pushed the memories out of her mind. She hadn't had an attack for a while now and she wanted to keep it that way. She figured the image of Fabian's body brought back the bad memories so she shoved the thoughts away and walked up to the front desk.
"A-afternoon," Jaimie-mae said quietly trying to get the lady's attention.
The lady didn't answer and continued to type away on the keyboard while Jaimie-mae stood there awkwardly.
"Um, hello."
The lady still didn't respond and continued to type things into the computer. After about fifteen more seconds of absolute silence and Jaimie-mae over thinking and silently panicking, the lady finally looked up.
"Hi, how can i help you?"
"Can you tell me what room Fabian Sharp is in?" Saying his name sounded strange. She didn't exactly know if this was how it was even pronounced. He hadn't told her his name himself.
"Are you sure you want to see him. You don't seem so sure of yourself."
Jaimie-mae seriously felt like breaking down into tears, however she stood her ground.
"Yes. Im sure."
"Okay." The lady typed his name into the computer quickly then looked back up. "Second floor, room 132."
"Okay, thank you."
"Uh huh," the lady said dismissively.
Jaimie-mae rolled her eyes as she walked off and repeated the floor and room number to herself. She passed the elevator completely and found stairs that could be used by visitors. She was never one to pass up a bit of excercise. She was one to pass an elevator trip though. She wasn't really scared of small spaces or getting stuck in an elevator, it was being in a small space with lots of people that made her nervous.
Once she was up the steps, she walked the halls until she found the number she was looking for.
She took a deep breath and then knocked lightly on the door.
Atleast i know he's alive, right
She heard a light 'come in' and so she pushed open the door and stepped inside.
When she was fully inside she looked at the boy in the bed who looked quite alive, but pale and bored. Probably from lack of sun. He had a cast on one of his legs, one of his arms was wrapped in gauze and his face had tiny scabs across it. His head was also wrapped in a thin layer of gauze. His loosely curled hair was sprawled messily over his forehead but Jaimie-mae still found him somewhat attractive.
"Hi," she said with a small, shy wave.
He stared at her curiously then waved back unsurely.
She stood awkwardly, shifting on her feet as he raked his eyes over her.
His voice made her jump a little. "I'm sorry, but, do i know you?"
"Y-No, not really. I was kinda there when you got... you know, knocked off your feet by a car."
He chuckled lightly but then his eyes quickly widened. "Your a girl."
She looked at herself from head to toe. "Yeah, i think so. Is it not obvious? I th-"
He cut her off. "No no no. That's not what i meant. At all," he said with a husky chuckle. "It's pretty obvious you're a girl," he said as his eyes travelled over her slowly.
She blushed and stepped backwards a little.
"Sorry. My mom taught me better than that. I'll be nicer," he said with an apologetic smile.
Jaimie-mae shied away further.
"Hey. You can come closer. I promise i won't bite," he said as he watched her nervous movements carefully.
After some thinking, Jaimie-mae stepped closer. She came here to visit him and see if he was okay; she wouldn't be able to do that from the door.
"Can you stand beside my bed please?" he asked as he motioned her forward with his good right arm. "O-only if you want to, of course," he said, stumbling over his words.
His sudden nervousness made Jaimie-mae feel better and she giggled lightly as she neared his bed. She felt better knowing she wasn't the only one giving off nervous vibes.
"Thank you. For, you know, saving my life and everything."
She smiled and waved her hand dismissively. "It's cool."
"No forreal. Thanks for sharing your air," he said with a laugh.
Jaimie-mae's eyes widened. "You know about that?"
"I didn't. But a certain doctor let me know. He's pretty cool. Thanks though."
"Right. Yeah, no problem," she said as she tucked a piece of her brown, wavy hair behind her ear.
"You do realize we've already had our first kiss and we haven't even met properly, right."
Jaime-mae's face burned a bright red and she let her hair fall in front of her face to hide her blush.
Fabian chuckled. "Sorry. Too much? I'll bring it back a little." He stuck out his hand in front of her face. "Hi, i'm Fabian and you are..."
She hesitantly took his big hand and shook it. "I'm Jaimie-mae."
"Jaimie-mae," he said testing the name on his tongue. "Hmm, cool name. I like it."
"Thanks. I like your name too. It's really nice."
The two of them fell into a silence for a while and just sat in each others company. After a while the silence got a little to silent, so Fabian interrupted.
"Ugh, i don't really know what a hero and someone who basically came back from the dead really talk about. So should we try small talk, or...?"
Jaimie-mae laughed lightly and looked up into his bright brown eyes. "Sure."
"So. Um. I know it's impolite to ask a woman her age, but imma be a rebel and ask anyway. How old are you?"
"Seventeen. How old are you?"
Fabian looked shocked but he quickly rid of it with a smile. "I'm nineteen. If you don't mind me saying, i thought you were like... fifteen or something."
"Yeah, i kind of have a baby face i guess."
"No not really. It's kind of refreshing actually, most girls look older than they really are because of all that makeup. Your just kinda short and shy. I'm just glad i wasn't flirting with someone super underage. You're really cute though."
Once again Jaimie-mae was blushing. "T-thanks."
He chuckled. "No problem. I don't really know if this ruining the moment or anything, but did you know you broke one of my ribs?" He said with a laugh. "Cool right?"
Jaimie-mae looked at him with a horrified expression. "Cool? I think you and me have two different views of cool. I'm really sorry for breaking your rib."
"It's no problem really. A broken rib is better than being dead."
Jaimie-mae flinched at the word dead and her hands immediately began to shake. She tried to sit on them without it being obvious.
Fabian looked at her cautiously. "I'm sorry. Did i do something wrong?"
She ducked her head and shook her head as she wiped her eyes with her sweater sleeve. "N-no. Just ignore me." To try and lighten the mood she said "You know you've said sorry to me like three times already in a span of like half an hour."
"Sorry. I'll stop."
Her head snapped up to him and she laughed loudly, the room lighting up with her laugh. "You just said sorry again."
"Right sorry." He laughed when he noticed he said sorry again. "Yeah, sorry. I'll work on that."
"No it's okay. I think it's sweet."
Even though what she admitted made her blush twice as hard and he soon blushed too, she meant every word.
