Chapter 3 of 4

Between Forever and Never

The Heart's Untold Stories2,318 words~12 min read

You might have read about men who treat their women with love and respect—men with zero male ego— only in books or shows and thought they only exist between the pages or behind the screen.

But the one I’m talking about? He exists in real life. He is the kind of man we girls dream of—the one who feels too good to be real, yet he is.

A Letter My Heart Wrote for You

To the One I Can’t Stop Loving,

You, my jaan, are the most precious person in my life. I don’t know how to put into words just how much you mean to me, but I’ll try.

From the moment I first saw your message, my heart did a little flip. It wasn’t just another "hi" in my requests—it was something different, something that made me pause and want to know more.

And look at us now… from strangers to best friends, and for me, something even deeper.

I don’t know when or how exactly I fell in love with you, but I did. Maybe it was when I realized that you saw me, really saw me—not just as a girl, but as me. You made me feel important, and worthy in a way no one else ever had.

Before you, I struggled with insecurities. I doubted if someone like me—who isn’t society’s definition of ‘perfect’—could be loved.

But you? You erased every insecurity. You made me love myself. With you, I wasn’t invisible. With you, I was enough. I always was, but it took you to make me believe it.

And when you call me Motu, it doesn’t feel like an insult, it feels like the most affectionate thing in the world.

The way you compliment me in the morning, even when my hair is a mess and I probably have drool on my face (yes, I know, don't remind me).

The way you scold me when I mess up but always follow it with an explanation, making sure I understand and never feel alone in figuring things out.

The way you listen—actually listen—to my tantrums, my endless gossip, my open talks, without a hint of annoyance.

With you, I never have to filter myself. I can be loud, dramatic, utterly ridiculous, and yet, you never make me feel like I have to be anything less.

Instead, you match my energy, laugh at my absurdities, and somehow, you make even the most ordinary conversations feel special.

And our bucket list—the places we dream of going together. Why do you make everything sound so perfect, so easy, so… ours?

For the longest time, I told myself I wouldn't fall in love with you. I convinced myself that I was okay just being your best friend, that I wouldn't let my heart wander into dangerous territory.

I lost again and again. That no matter how much I tried, loving you was inevitable. And the craziest part? I didn’t even want anything in return this time—I was just happy loving you, as I always had, as I always will.

But then you said it. I love you. You don't even realize what you do to me when you say that. I swear, my heart has never known chaos and peace at the same time the way it does when those words come from you.

And your singing—Kanha.....Do you even understand what you do to me when you sing? I get jealous thinking about whether you’ve sung for other girls before (Like, excuse me, sir? That’s my privilege!)

Whenever you're sad, I just want to hug you so tight that every worry disappears. I don’t see you upset often, but when I do, it breaks me. I wish I could take every bad thing, every burden, and keep it for myself so you’d never have to feel pain.

If I could, I would carry every single one of your worries just to see you smile. Because you, my love, deserve nothing but happiness, the kind of happiness you effortlessly give to me.

I know the future is uncertain. Maybe we’ll not be together in the way I wish we could be.

Maybe someday, there will be someone else by your side

(and yes I’m already jealous of that lucky girl—she better treat you right).

But no matter what happens, you will always have me. In whatever way life allows, I will always be here for you, always love you.

Because you? You are my home.

Forever yours,

Motu

More Than Words

(Story)

SHE had always believed that love was something you could see—like the way the hero in a book looked at the heroine, or the way couples in movies held hands under the stars. She thought love had to be loud, obvious, and unmistakable. That was until she met HIM.

Their story wasn’t a fairytale, it wasn’t perfect. It was messy, full of laughter, fights, tantrums, jealousy, and a love so deep that it didn’t even need words.

It started with a message request on Instagram. She had ignored so many before, but something about this one felt different. Maybe it was the way he phrased his words, not just a generic "Hi," but a real attempt to start a conversation. She hesitated, then clicked.

Hello Ma'am, Can I say something?

Curious, she replied.

And that was the beginning of everything.

At first, it was nothing more than casual conversations. He was easy to talk to, his words held a warmth that made her feel safe. He shared his poems with her, and she was struck by how beautifully he strung words together. Somewhere deep inside, she wanted to believe those words were meant for her.

Then, one day, he told her about a girl he liked. A girl whose eyes he had seen but whose face remained a mystery. A girl he wanted to confess his feelings to.

Her heart had stuttered, even though she pretended it didn’t. Because she knew—he was talking about her.

Still, she didn’t say anything. Not when he casually asked if she was single. Not when she laughed too hard at his silly jokes. Not when she found herself wanting to hold onto their conversations a little longer each night.

Because she knew how the world worked. She had learned that boys showed care, made you feel special, and then—one day—they asked for something. And she had always been ready to block and move on.

But He never asked.

That’s when she realized—he was different.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. They became best friends, inseparable in a way that felt almost unreal. Her friends asked her why she trusted someone she had never met. They teased her, laughed when she admitted she hadn’t even seen his face. What if he’s some uncle? they had joked.

Their first call was a disaster in the best way. She panicked when she saw his number, hesitated before answering, and when she finally did, all she heard was—

"Hello?"

Her heart raced. She stayed silent. Then he spoke again—

"Main hi hoon."

And they both burst out laughing.

That was the moment she knew. He wasn’t just another guy.

He was her person.

She didn’t know if it was love at first sight, because she doesn't believe in something like love at first sight. But it was love at first words, love at first laugh, love at first feeling.

His compliments meant the world to her. The way he would look at her, even in the mornings with her messy hair and maybe even a little drool, and still say, "You look so beautiful." It made her heart flutter in ways she never knew were possible.

And oh, how she loved when he scolded her—when he explained things to her patiently, when he listened to all her tantrums without a single complaint. With him, she never had to pretend. They gossiped, had deep open talks, and made bucket lists of places to visit together.

"Why do you make me feel so special?" she often wondered.

But despite everything, despite all the years, he never said I love you back. Not once. She never asked why. Maybe she was afraid of the answer. Maybe she knew.

Until that day.

She had gathered all her courage and said it. "I love you."

And then, like a casual afterthought, he said, "Same."

WTF?!

"Achhe se bolo," she demanded, half laughing, half crying.

"Wait, abhi mummy hai," he whispered, as if that was the most natural response.

Later, a voice note arrived. His voice, soft and teasing, singing "I love youuu..."

That moment hit her hard. Butterflies? No. A whole damn zoo erupted in her stomach. It was the first time, and it was everything.

They didn’t say I love you often, but deep down, they both knew.

And his singing—God, his singing. It was her weakness. Every time he sang, it felt like a calm wave washing over her. She loved it. But the thought of him singing for someone else? It made her heart clench with jealousy.

But love was never simple.

They fought. Not once, not twice, but so many times she lost count. And every single time, it was because of her insecurities. She hated how much she craved his attention, how much it hurt when he didn’t reply.

She was used to feeling invisible. To be judged for her weight, for not being enough. She had been told too many times that girls like her weren’t the ones boys desire for. And yet—he made her feel seen.

Even when she pushed him away, even when she picked fights, he stayed.

Until he didn’t.

The fight that lasted five months was the worst. It broke her. She pretended she was fine, but inside, she was a mess. Her friends noticed. Even her little brother, saw the sadness she tried to hide.

Nothing is harder than pretending to be fine when the person who was part of your everyday life is missing

But she never reached out.

And neither did he.

And then, one day, he came back. Just like that. As if the universe had finally realized it had been wrong to keep them apart.

But this time she had convinced herself—I won’t fall for him again. I’ll just be his best friend.

But then he called.

"Chalo ek song sunata hoon."

Her heart raced. No, no, no. Don’t fall again.

But the moment he started singing, she melted. Her heart gave up, whispered, Love him again. Even if you don’t get anything in return. Just love him.

And so she did.

She never expected to fall in love with Kanha, but somehow, he led her there—through him. Every conversation, every farewell marked with a simple "Jai Shri Krishna," planted a seed in her heart, one that grew before she even realized it. And now, she couldn't help but wonder—was this all part of His plan?

Did Kanha whisper to him, "Make her love me, and I’ll make her love you"?

If so, she was eternally grateful. Because she loved them both—with a love so pure, so boundless, that it felt like destiny itself had woven their hearts together.

But the world said they were fools—friends for years but never met. People mocked her, questioned their bond, made her feel like a joke. But how could she explain that love wasn’t about a call or a meeting?

It was about how she felt when she saw his name pop up on her screen. How she smiled like an idiot when he replied. How, no matter how much time passed, she knew deep down—he was hers, and she was his.

And now, as she sat with her phone in her hand, typing out everything she had ever felt, she wondered—would he truly understand?

Would he ever know that he was the first boy she ever truly trusted? That he made her believe in Kanha, in love again, in herself again?

Would he ever know that he had erased every insecurity she had carried for years, simply by being him?

Would he ever know that she loved him—not just in the way people casually throw around the word—but in the deepest, most forever way possible?

She hit send.

And waited.

Because for the first time in her life, she wasn’t scared of the answer.

Because whether he said it back or not, her love was real.

And that was enough.

Even when the world didn’t understand. SHE LOVES HIM.

More Than a Name

(Poem)

You are not just a name, not just a face,

You are the warmth in my coldest place.

Since the day your words found me,

My heart has raced, wild and free.

You were never just a moment,

never just a passing phase,

you became my favorite feeling,

written softly between the days.

I tried to name this something,

tried to fit it in a line,

but love was never letters,

it was you, just being mine.

And if the world should question,

what we are or what we’ve been,

let them search for love in echoes,

while we live it—unseen.

You made me see, you made me feel,

That love is simple, that love is real.

You erased my doubts, my every fear,

Showed me love that stays, year by year.

I don’t know if you feel the same,

If you’ll ever whisper my name.

But know this truth, fierce and bright,

I’ll love you till my last twilight.

— Your Motu
