Y/n's View

The door opens and Steven walks in.

"Hey." I say.

"Hey, what you been working on?" Steven asks, sitting on the couch.

"Just tweaking this album before I send it to the label." I say.

"Speaking of album, I wanted to talk to you about something." Steven says.

"Okay." I say.

"Your album is expected to do ridiculously well but how could we get it to do even better?" Steven asks.

"I thought I paid you thousands of dollars so I didn't have to answer those questions." I say, chuckling.

"Well, I was thinking that we could stage a relationship." He says.

"No way!" I say.

"Oh, come on. Everyone was obsessed with you and Alex the entire time you two were together." He says.

"So? You just said my album was gonna do well." I say.

"You hired me as your manager and publicist. Let me do my job." He says.

"So who'd you have in mind?" I ask.

"I haven't checked with her manager to make see if she's interested, but I will set you guys up once confirmed." He says.

"So tell me who it is." I say.

"I want it to be a surprise." He says.

"What if I don't want it to be a surprise?" I ask.

"Then that sucks." Steven says.

I chuckle and Steven smiles.

Time Skip; Hailee's View

"A PR relationship?" I ask.

"Yeah, it's perfect because your album is coming out soon and so is theirs." Ethan says.

"Who is it?" I ask.

"It's a surprise." Ethan says.

"I don't like surprises." I say.

"Well, grow up." Ethan says.

My jaw drops and he laughs.

Ethan's been my manager ever since I fired Rico in 2018. Rico looked at everything from a business perspective and didn't want me involved in anything unless it paid the bills.

And Ethan gets shit done. I've never been this busy before, but I'm busy in a "refreshing" way. He makes this kinda stuff enjoyable.

"Are you interested?" Ethan asks.

"I guess." I say.

"Great, maybe you guys can get dinner tonight." Ethan says.

"Why do I feel like you're hiding something from me?" I ask.

"Not everything has a sinister meaning or motive behind it. Sorry if your relationships make it seem that way." Ethan says.

I stare at him and he chuckles.

Time Skip

"I'm a little worried." I say.

"You should be." Ethan says.

"What?" I ask as we walk around the corner.

"Ah, you're here!" The man says getting off the bench.

"This is Steven." Ethan says as I shake the man's hand.

"And this is my client, you might know her." Steven says.

The woman turns around and I widen my eyes.

"Fuck no!" Y/n says.

"What do you mean?! You said you were down." Steven says.

"Not down to be seen with that bitch." Y/n says.

"Bitch?!" I ask.

"Shh." Ethan says, shushing us.

"No way, I'm out." Y/n says.

"Maybe if you guys stopped acting like children you could see the benefits of this." Steven says.

"Exactly. Imagine how much publicity you'd generate if two known enemies made up and started dating." Ethan says.

"Doesn't matter." I say.

"Do you even know why you hate each other?" Steven says.

"I dunno, ask her. She's the one who insulted me for no reason." I say.

"I was never worried about you or your sorry-ass career." Y/n says.

"Bitch-" I say.

"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!" Ethan says.

"How about you just try it for one night and see if the attention it generates can change your mind?" Ethan asks.

"Fine, but I'm not kissing you." I say.

"No one ever mentioned kissing, but thanks for telling us that you think about it in your free time." Y/n says.

"As if." I say.

"Can we please call it a truce?" Steven asks.

"Only temporary." I say.

Y/n pretends to spit in her hand and holds her hand out.

"You are disgusting, I dunno how any woman could ever love you." I say.

Steven chuckles and Y/n glares at him.

30 minutes later...

"Can I get you guys anything?" Sarah asks.

"No, ma'am." Y/n says.

Sarah nods and walks away.

"Why do you keep staring at her like that?" I ask.

"Cause she's fine as hell. You must not hear those words often." Y/n says.

"I don't need validation from strangers to feel pretty." I say.

"That's because no one ever gave it to you." Y/n says.

"What's your problem?" I ask.

"I don't have a problem." Y/n says.

"Clearly you do and it's not just your unibrow." I say.

"First of all, I don't have a unibrow. Secondly, if I had a problem with you it began the day you insulted me and my work." Y/n says.

"I insulted you because you insulted me first." I say.

"I had no idea who you were until you said that shit. Why would I insult someone not relevant enough to even be in the same rooms as me?" Y/n says.

"You know, I was actually a fan of you before you started spreading lies about me and convincing your fans to send me death threats." I say.

"So you envy me? That's why you couldn't my name out of your mouth?" She asks.

"I'm not sure how I could possibly envy someone so self-absorbed." I say.

"Self-absorbed?" She asks.

"Yeah, you couldn't even be bothered to pay for your dad's chemo because you were too busy gambling on basketball games." I say.

"Really? Is that what you think happened?" She asks.

"Mark died because you don't care about anyone but yourself and the dollars in your bank account." I say.

"You know what, Hailee, go fuck yourself." She says, getting up.

"Don't get mad at me, get mad at the truth." I say.

She walks away and I sigh.
