Chapter 10: The Roommate's Tickle Test

Luke knocked on the door to his girlfriend Jess's apartment, eager to hang out after a long day of classes. Instead of Jess answering, her roommate Taylor greeted him. She was tall and slender with auburn hair tied in a messy ponytail. Wearing patterned house pants and a loose black sweater, she leaned casually against the doorframe while holding a mug of coffee in one hand.

"Oh, you must be Luke," Taylor said with a warm smile. "Jess isn't back yet. She got caught up in her study group. You're welcome to wait inside if you want."

Luke hesitated but stepped inside after Taylor motioned him in. "Thanks, uh, Taylor, right?"

"That's me!" she replied, leading him to the living room. She plopped down on the couch and propped her feet on the coffee table, holding her mug in one hand. "Make yourself comfortable."

Luke sat at the far end of the couch, but his eyes were immediately drawn to Taylor's bare feet. Her soles were smooth and slightly tanned, with a soft pinkish hue that made them look well cared for. Her toenails were painted a light pink, and she wore a delicate star-charmed anklet on her right ankle. The way her toes wiggled absentmindedly caught his attention, and he quickly looked away, trying to focus on anything else.

"So, Luke," Taylor said, taking a sip of her coffee. "Jess talks about you a lot. What are you studying?"

"Oh, uh, business," Luke replied, his gaze darting to her feet again before he caught himself. "Trying to figure out what I want to do after graduation."

"Business, huh?" Taylor leaned back on the couch, crossing one leg over the other so her right foot rested on her left knee. "That's cool. You and Jess meet in a class or something?"

Luke hesitated, distracted by the way Taylor's foot swayed slightly as she spoke. "Uh, no. We met at a party. She kind of just came up to me and started talking."

Taylor raised an eyebrow, clearly noticing Luke's distracted expression. She smirked, leaning forward slightly. "You're not a very good multitasker, are you? What's got you so distracted?"

"Nothing," Luke said quickly, though his reddening face gave him away.

Taylor narrowed her eyes playfully, as if piecing something together. She tilted her head, then smiled knowingly. "Wait a second... You're Jess's boyfriend, right? The one who likes to tickle her feet?"

Luke's face turned beet red. "She told you about that?"

"Oh, yeah. I told you Jess talks about you a lot," Taylor said, her grin widening. "She thinks it's cute, by the way. But now I'm curious—are you just into her feet, or is it a feet in general kind of thing?"

Luke was too stunned to respond, but Taylor wasn't done. She shifted her position, placing her feet on the middle seat of the couch, closer to Luke. "Come on, I know you've been staring anyway. Jess did warn me you were a little... foot-obsessed."

Luke hesitated, looking at Taylor's teasing smile. "I don't know..."

Taylor raised an eyebrow. "Come on, scaredy-cat. Jess isn't here to stop you. Unless you're afraid I can't handle it?"

Feeling challenged, Luke reached out and lightly ran his fingers along the arch of Taylor's foot. She immediately burst into laughter, throwing her head back. "Oh my gosh! That's way worse than I thought!"

Luke grew bolder, tracing his fingers along her sole and under her toes. Taylor squirmed, kicking slightly but unable to stop laughing. "Okay, okay, I take it back! You're too good at this!"

At that moment, Jess walked in, her backpack slung over one shoulder. She froze in the doorway, raising an eyebrow at the scene. "Should I even ask what's going on here?"

Taylor, still giggling, sat up and pointed at Luke. "Your boyfriend ambushed me! I was just minding my business."

Jess crossed her arms and smirked. "Right. Because you're never up to anything, Taylor."

Taylor grinned innocently, picking up her coffee mug again. "Hey, I was just testing his skills. Gotta make sure you're in good hands."

Jess rolled her eyes and dropped her bag on the floor. "Well, since you've already dragged him into your antics..." She kicked off her shoes and sat on the other side of Luke, placing her feet in his lap and wiggling her toes. "Let's see if you can multitask."

Luke looked at her in surprise. "Seriously?"

Jess shrugged, her lips curling into a mischievous smile. "Why not? Let's see what you've got."

Luke scooted to the middle of the couch. Now flanked by both girls, he hesitated for a moment before lightly tickling Jess's arch with one hand and Taylor's toes with the other. Both women erupted into laughter, squirming and trying to outlast the other.

"Okay, okay, I give up!" Taylor gasped, pulling her feet away first. "You're way too good at this!"

Jess laughed, catching her breath. "I told you he's dangerous. Now you know."

As the laughter died down, Jess leaned back and glanced at Luke. "So, what's for dinner? I'm starving."

"Pizza?" Luke suggested, earning nods of agreement from both girls.

Taylor stretched her legs out again, giving Luke a playful nudge with her foot. "Fine, but you're buying. It's the least you can do after that ambush."

The three of them laughed, settling into the easy camaraderie that had formed. As the pizza order was placed and the living room filled with warmth and laughter, Luke couldn't help but smile. Jess's roommate had definitely left an impression.
