Chapter 17: Double Trouble at the Clinic

Pictured in the left image is Vicki, and in the right image is Kelly, the two ticklish protagonists of this story.

The faint scent of antiseptic and lavender filled the cozy podiatry clinic. Wooden-paneled walls gave the room a warm cabin-like charm, and two blue reclining chairs sat side by side, waiting for their next occupants.

"Why are we doing this together again?" Vicki asked, clutching her water bottle like it was a lifeline.

Kelly, her best friend and fellow ticklish soul, smirked as she leaned against the reception desk. "Because misery loves company, my dear Vicki. Besides, think of it as a spa day—just with more... poking."

Vicki rolled her eyes. "You make it sound so glamorous."

Before they could continue their banter, Dr. Patel appeared at the doorway, a warm smile on his face. "Ladies! Welcome. Come on in, make yourselves comfortable."

They followed him into the examination room, where the reclining chairs awaited. Both women kicked off their shoes—Vicki's sporty sneakers as well as her socks, and Kelly's casual flats while rolling up her pant legs—and settled them underneath their chairs.

Kelly stretched her toes dramatically. "Ah, freedom!"

Vicki wiggled her own toes nervously. "Freedom? More like open season on my feet."

Dr. Patel chuckled as he snapped on his gloves. "All right, ladies, who's going first?"

Vicki froze mid-toe wiggle. "No way. Kelly goes first!"

But Kelly had already leaned back into her chair, hands folded behind her head. "Nope, age before beauty, my friend."

Vicki groaned as Dr. Patel wheeled his stool closer to her. "All right, Vicki, let's take a look."

Dr. Patel gently lifted Vicki's left foot and examined it professionally. "Any soreness? Pain?"

"Nope, just... ticklish," Vicki admitted, her voice tight with anticipation.

"Noted," Dr. Patel said with a grin before picking up a soft-bristled brush from his tray.

The moment the bristles made contact with her arch, Vicki flinched violently, her laugh bursting out like a firecracker. "Ahh! Wait! Oh my gosh!"

Kelly snickered from her chair. "Oh, this is priceless. Someone get a camera!"

Dr. Patel, trying to keep his composure, adjusted his grip. "Hold still, Vicki. We're just starting."

But as he worked across her sole with gentle precision, Vicki was in hysterics, squirming and gripping the armrests of the chair.

"Hahaha! Dr. Patel! Mercy!"

"Don't worry, Vicki, we're almost done with this foot," he said with mock seriousness, though a smile tugged at his lips.

By the time he moved to her right foot, Vicki had dissolved into a giggly mess. Kelly was nearly in tears laughing at her friend's plight.

Finally, Dr. Patel gave her toes one last inspection and set her foot down. "All done, Vicki. You survived."

Vicki sat up, her face flushed with laughter. "Barely."

Dr. Patel turned to Kelly, who was still grinning ear to ear. "Your turn, Kelly."

Kelly exhaled and tried to look nonchalant. "Okay, I'm ready. Hit me with your best shot."

Dr. Patel gently took her left foot and began the same examination process.

"See? Not so bad," Kelly said with a casual shrug.

But then Dr. Patel reached for the soft-bristled brush, and the moment it touched Kelly's arch, her confident demeanor shattered.

"Ahhh! Nope! Nope, nope, nope!" Kelly burst into giggles, jerking her foot slightly.

Vicki clapped her hands triumphantly. "Karma, Kelly! Sweet, sweet karma!"

Dr. Patel tried to keep Kelly's foot steady, but her giggling made it a challenge. "Kelly, I need you to stay still, or we'll be here all day."

Kelly's head fell back against the chair, tears of laughter streaming down her face. "I can't! It tickles too much!"

Vicki leaned over, wiggling her fingers at Kelly's other foot. "You want me to help, Doc?"

"Don't you dare!" Kelly gasped through her laughter.

After a few more minutes of ticklish torment, Dr. Patel finished Kelly's treatment and set her foot down.

Both women sat up, catching their breath, their faces flushed from laughing so hard.

Dr. Patel shook his head with a smile. "I don't know if I've ever had two patients cause this much chaos in one afternoon."

Vicki wiped away a tear. "We aim to please, Doc."

Kelly, still giggling, pointed at Vicki. "See? You went first, but I definitely outperformed you in volume."

Dr. Patel removed his gloves with a snap. "Well, ladies, you both survived. Barely. I'll consider charging double next time."

As Vicki and Kelly slipped their shoes back on, they exchanged a look and burst into laughter again.

"Come on, Vicki," Kelly said, linking her arm with her friend's. "Let's get out of here before Dr. Patel finds another reason to tickle us."

Dr. Patel waved them off as they left the clinic, their laughter still echoing down the hallway.

"Next time, ladies," he called after them, "I'll have extra tools ready!"

The playful camaraderie between Vicki, Kelly, and even Dr. Patel, filled the clinic with joy that day—a reminder that sometimes, even the most routine appointments can turn into moments of pure, unfiltered laughter.
