Chapter 23 of 51

Chapter 20: The Ticklish Tailgate

The parking lot outside the stadium buzzed with excitement as football fans set up grills, coolers, and foldable chairs under a bright Saturday sun. Wendy and Nessa had claimed the back of their SUV as their personal relaxation zone. The tailgate door was propped open, giving them shade, while their bare feet rested lazily on a cooler, flip-flops discarded nearby.

"Best seats in the house," Wendy said, stretching her legs and wiggling her toes.

Nessa chuckled. "And we don't even have to fight anyone for elbow room."

The two women were decked out in their own apparel, Wendy sporting a shirt with the team's logo on it and Nessa proudly showing off the number 52. They had already made their rounds, chatting with other tailgaters and sampling grilled snacks, but now they were content just lounging, sipping sodas, and enjoying each other's company.

A few feet away, their husbands, Mark and Dave, manned the grill. Mark flipped burgers with a spatula while Dave adjusted the heat on the sausages. As they worked, their eyes drifted to the SUV, where their wives were laughing and chatting without a care in the world.

Mark smirked. "Look at them, all comfortable and cozy back there."

Dave grinned and nudged him. "And look at those feet, just...right there. Practically asking for it."

Mark raised an eyebrow. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Absolutely," Dave said, grabbing a feather from a nearby game-day decoration hanging from the cooler.

Mark grabbed a barbecue basting brush, holding it up like a trophy. "Alright, follow my lead."

Back in the SUV, Wendy was mid-sentence when she felt something lightly brush against the sole of her foot. Her eyes widened, and she let out a squeak before bursting into giggles.

"MARK!" she shouted, swatting at him with her free hand while her foot instinctively pulled back.

But Mark was persistent. He leaned in and swept the brush lightly up and down her sole. Wendy squirmed, her laughter ringing out.

"Stop! Stop! That tickles!" she managed between gasps.

Meanwhile, Nessa was watching Wendy's plight with amused curiosity. So focused on her friend's reaction, she didn't notice Dave creeping up behind her.

"Gotcha!" Dave declared, running the feather lightly along the underside of Nessa's toes.

Nessa flinched, let out a loud squeal, and then started laughing uncontrollably. "DAAAVE! That's not fair!"

The husbands exchanged mischievous glances and continued their playful attack. Wendy's foot wiggled desperately as Mark swept the brush back and forth across her arch. Nessa tried to trap her feet under a blanket, but Dave was relentless, wiggling the feather between her toes.

"Okay, okay!" Wendy cried, tears forming at the corners of her eyes from laughter. "You guys are the WORST!"

Realizing their husbands weren't planning to stop anytime soon, Wendy and Nessa exchanged a knowing look.

"Plan B?" Wendy asked between breaths.

"Plan B," Nessa confirmed with a grin.

Wendy snatched a foam finger from the side of the SUV, brandishing it like a sword. Nessa grabbed a mustard bottle, shaking it menacingly at Dave.

"You better run!" Wendy shouted.

Mark and Dave backed away, laughing hysterically as Wendy waved the foam finger and Nessa squirted a tiny stream of mustard in their direction.

"Retreat! Retreat!" Mark called, holding up his spatula like a shield.

The playful chaos continued for a few more minutes before the couples finally collapsed in laughter, breathless and red-faced from the impromptu tickle battle.

As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, the four of them sat side by side on the tailgate, munching on burgers and sipping cold drinks.

"You know," Dave said with a grin, "for two football fans, you two sure can't handle a little playful attack."

Wendy rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. Next time, I'm wearing tickle-proof socks."

Nessa laughed, shaking her head. "Steel-toe boots for me."

Mark smirked. "But where's the fun in that?"

The four shared another laugh as the stadium lights flickered on in the distance. The game was about to begin, but for Wendy, Nessa, Mark, and Dave, the real fun had already happened right there in the parking lot.
