Chapter 26: Megan and the Ticklish Dare

The living room apartment was alive with laughter and chatter. Megan stretched out on the beanbag chair, her red hair cascading over her shoulder as she glanced over at her two roommates, Emily and Sarah, who were sprawled across the couch. The warm glow of a lamp lit the cozy room, and the coffee table was cluttered with odds and ends—pens, notebooks, a random paperclip, and an empty mug from earlier that evening.

"So, what now?" Megan asked, her voice tinged with boredom. "We've already dissected Sarah's latest date and Emily's work drama."

Emily smirked, sitting up a little straighter. "How about a game of truth or dare?"

Megan raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? What are we, twelve?"

Sarah grinned. "Come on, it'll be fun. Unless you're scared."

"Of you two? Hardly," Megan shot back, her competitive streak sparking. "Fine. Let's play."

The first few rounds went by with light-hearted dares and truths. Emily had to admit her most embarrassing high school crush, and Sarah was dared to try doing a cartwheel in the cramped living room, nearly knocking over a lamp in the process. By the time it was Megan's turn, she was ready to prove she could handle anything.

"Dare," she said confidently, crossing her arms.

Emily and Sarah exchanged mischievous glances. Megan immediately regretted her choice.

"I dare you..." Emily began, drawing out the words for effect. "...to get your feet tickled for two whole minutes."

Megan's jaw dropped. "No way. Absolutely not."

"No takesie backsies!" Sarah chimed in, laughing. "You picked dare. You can't chicken out now."

Megan groaned, looking down at her socked feet. "Can't I just switch to truth? Please?"

"Sorry, rules are rules, Meg." Emily said, her grin widening. "Now, off with the socks, missy."

Megan sighed dramatically, peeling off her white socks and tossing them onto the beanbag beside her. "This is the dumbest dare ever," she muttered, propping her feet up on the beanbag. Her toes wiggled nervously as she braced herself. "Let's just get this over with."

Emily and Sarah each grabbed a foot, exchanging a quick nod before starting. Their fingers danced across Megan's soles, eliciting an immediate reaction.

"Ahh! No, stop! That tickles!" Megan squealed, her laughter spilling out uncontrollably. She squirmed and tried to pull her feet back, but the beanbag made it impossible for her to escape. "You guys are evil!"

"Two minutes is a long time," Sarah teased, her fingers tracing patterns along Megan's arch.

"Oh, come on," Emily added, laughing as she focused on the ball of Megan's foot. "You can handle it, Megan. You're so tough, remember?"

Megan's laughter grew louder, her head thrown back as she kicked out reflexively. "I take it back! I'm not tough—I'm not tough at all!"

Emily glanced at the coffee table and grabbed a pen, testing it against Megan's sole. Megan howled with laughter, her toes curling as she struggled to form words. "That's worse! Stop using—whatever that is!"

Meanwhile, Sarah picked up a paperclip and lightly traced it along the edge of Megan's foot, sending her into another fit of hysterical giggles. "You guys are the worst!" Megan cried, tears of laughter streaming down her cheeks.

"What? We're just getting creative," Sarah said, grinning.

The timer on Emily's phone ticked down as Megan flailed and laughed, helpless against the tickling onslaught. "Okay, okay, you win! I'll never pick dare again!"

Finally, the timer beeped, and the roommates released her feet, collapsing onto the couch in fits of laughter.

Megan sat up, her cheeks flushed and her hair slightly messy from all the squirming. She glared at them, though the smile on her face ruined any attempt at looking serious. "I hate both of you."

"Oh, come on," Emily said, still giggling. "You survived."

"Barely!" Megan shot back, pulling her knees to her chest protectively. "Next time, I'm picking truth. No exceptions."

"Next time?" Sarah teased. "Does that mean you'll play again?"

Megan groaned, tossing a pillow at her. "Don't push your luck."

As the three of them dissolved into laughter again, Megan couldn't help but smile. It was moments like these—full of chaos and camaraderie—that made living with Emily and Sarah so much fun.
