The newsroom was silent, aside from the faint hum of studio lights and the occasional rustling of paper from the large desk Sarah sat at. The broadcast had wrapped up, the crew had cleared out, and Sarah was finally able to relax. Letting out a soft sigh, she kicked off her heels and leaned back in her chair, stretching her legs out.
"Ahh, much better," she murmured to herself, wiggling her toes as she propped her bare feet up on the sleek wooden desk.
The moment was short-lived. A knock at the studio door made her turn her head just as Brian, the station's newest intern, stepped inside.
"Hey, Sarah," Brian greeted, walking toward her with a polite but slightly nervous expression. "I just wanted to check in before I head out for the night."
Sarah, ever the composed professional, simply gave him a nod. "Ah, Brian. Always so diligent."
As Brian spoke, his gaze inadvertently drifted downward. His words trailed off as he noticed Sarah's bare feet resting comfortably on the desk, her small toes flexing slightly as she stretched them out. He blinked, quickly looking away, but not before Sarah caught the brief moment of hesitation.
A smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.
"Well now," she mused, tilting her head playfully. "What's got you so distracted all of a sudden?"
Brian's face turned red instantly. "Oh! Uh... nothing, I..."
Sarah chuckled, thoroughly enjoying his flustered reaction. "Nothing, huh? Because it sure looked like you were staring at my feet." She wiggled her toes teasingly, her smirk widening as Brian's ears turned even redder.
"I... uh... I wasn't..." Brian stammered, shifting uncomfortably, but Sarah just laughed.
"Oh, relax, kid. I'm just messing with you," she said. "You can take a closer look. I don't bite."
Brian let out an awkward chuckle, scratching the back of his neck. "I just... I guess I wasn't expecting to see my boss... you know... with her feet up like that."
Sarah raised an eyebrow. "What, am I not allowed to relax after a long day? These feet carry the weight of a serious journalist, you know." She wiggled her toes again for emphasis.
Brian hesitated before shrugging. "I mean... they're just kind of small."
Sarah gasped in mock offense. "Well, I'll have you know I am very proportional. They may be small and dainty, but they're mighty."
Brian laughed, finally relaxing a bit. "Alright, alright. I believe you."
Sarah grinned, then leaned forward slightly, a mischievous glint in her eye. "So tell me, Brian... are you just curious, or do you happen to have a thing for feet?"
Brian's eyes widened. "What? No! I..."
Sarah burst into laughter at his reaction, shaking her head. "I'm just kidding! You're too easy to tease."
Brian let out a breath of relief before chuckling along with her. "You almost gave me a heart attack."
"Well, in all seriousness," Sarah continued, propping her feet closer to him, "if you're that curious, go ahead. Take a closer look."
Brian blinked, surprised. "Are you sure?"
Sarah smirked. "I don't offer just anyone a front-row seat to these beauties. Consider yourself lucky."
Brian hesitated before slowly reaching out, his fingers grazing the arch of her foot. Sarah's foot twitched slightly at the contact, but she didn't pull away.
"Huh," Brian mused. "They're softer than I expected."
Sarah chuckled. "Good lotion and plenty of self-care, my dear intern."
Suddenly, Brian grinned, glancing at Sarah's feet still propped up in front of him. "Are they ticklish?"
Sarah smirked, tilting her head. "A little bit."
Brian raised an eyebrow. "Only a little?"
She leaned back in her chair, wiggling her toes. "Why don't you find out for yourself?"
Taking the challenge, Brian lightly ran a single finger along Sarah's arch, but her foot barely twitched. She held still, keeping her expression composed.
"Huh," Brian mused. "No reaction. Maybe you really aren't that ticklish."
Sarah smirked. "Told you."
Not convinced, Brian dragged his fingertips up and down her sole in a slow, teasing motion. That was enough to make Sarah giggle, her toes flexing in response.
"Okay, maybe a little more than I let on," she admitted between giggles.
Brian chuckled, now focusing on her toes, tracing along each one with gentle precision. "Your toes are so tiny," he commented. "How do they even function?"
Sarah gasped dramatically through her laughter. "Excuse you! I'll have you know these tiny toes are very efficient."
Brian grinned. "Efficient at what? Getting tickled?"
Sarah burst into laughter as Brian danced his fingers underneath her toes. Her feet twitched, but she didn't pull them away. In fact, she adjusted slightly, almost as if making it easier for him to continue.
"Admit it," Brian teased. "You're way more ticklish than you let on."
Sarah giggled, her shoulders shaking. "Fine, fine, I'll admit it... these little feet might be exceptionally ticklish."
Brian smirked, switching to a light scratching motion across her heels and arches. "Exceptionally, huh? That's a pretty strong word."
Sarah simply giggled, rolling her eyes playfully. "Well, you are very thorough in your investigative work, Brian. Maybe you should be the news anchor instead of me."
Brian chuckled. "I think I'll just stick to my strengthsâlike discovering how ridiculously ticklish my boss is."
Sarah shot him a mock glare. "Careful, kid. I'm still your boss."
Brian laughed but didn't stop. This time, he began lightly scribbling his fingers up and down both soles. Sarah let out another round of giggles, scrunching her toes.
"You know, I should probably be stopping you," she teased while laughing, "but I have to admit... this is kind of nice."
Brian grinned. "So, what you're saying is... I should keep going?"
Sarah gave him an amused look but didn't pull away. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to let you have a little more fun."
Brian chuckled. "Good, because I wasn't done yet."
He resumed his ticklish exploration of Sarah's soles, and while Sarah continued laughing, she made no effort to stop him, fully embracing the ticklish moment.
After a few more minutes, Brian finally relented, sitting back with a victorious grin. "Well, that was fun."
Sarah flexed her toes, still smiling. "I'll admit, not a bad way to end the day."
Brian smirked. "Glad I could provide some entertainment."
"Oh, you have no idea." Sarah said while giving him a knowing look. She stretched out her legs again, shaking her head with an amused expression. "Well, Brian, I think you've successfully taken the weight off my shoulders, if nothing else."
Brian chuckled. "Happy to help, Sarah."
Sarah smirked, propping her feet back up with a satisfied sigh. "Consider this your first lesson in newsroom morale-boosting."
Brian laughed before standing up. "Well, I should probably get going before we find more ways to mess with each other."
Sarah winked. "Oh, don't worry. There's always tomorrow."
Brian chuckled as he turned to leave, while Sarah leaned back in her chair, flexing her toes as she watched him go, thoroughly entertained by their playful experience.
