Chapter 42: Corporate Comfort

Victoria Harper leaned back in her sleek leather chair with a satisfied smirk on her face as she wrapped up a phone call. Her office, with its towering window overlooking the city skyline, was as much a reflection of her ambition as the sleek designer suit she wore. The space was immaculate—modern, minimalist, and exuding the kind of authority she had spent years cultivating. Yet, at this moment, she was indulging in a rare pause in her busy schedule.

Her legs were crossed under her desk, one stiletto lazily dangling from her toes. As she ended the call, she sighed dramatically, stretching her arms before letting the shoe slip off entirely. With a casual flick, she propped her legs onto the desk, one foot still in a stiletto while the other flexed in newfound freedom, savoring the cool air against her bare sole. A quiet hum of satisfaction escaped her lips as she wiggled her toes, relishing the relief.

A knock at the door made her glance up. "Come in." she responded.

Michael Reynolds, her young but experienced assistant, opened the door and entered as punctual and polished as ever. He carried a tablet in one hand and a folder in the other, his usual composed demeanor intact. "Ms. Harper, your next meeting starts in fifteen minutes. I've highlighted the key talking points..."

He hesitated for just a second, his gaze shifting downward. Victoria followed his eyes and grinned knowingly.

"Something caught your attention, Michael?" she teased, wiggling her toes playfully.

Michael cleared his throat, regaining his usual composure. "Not at all, ma'am." He set the folder on her desk, eyes trained on business as usual.

Victoria wasn't about to let him off the hook that easily. "Oh, come on," she mused, stretching her foot slightly. "You can say it. I have fabulous feet, don't I?"

Michael cleared his throat. "I... uh..."

She laughed. "Relax, I'm just teasing." She flexed her foot, sighing again. "But honestly, heels all day? Torture. My poor feet are screaming."

Michael hesitated for a beat before responding. "If you'd like, I could book an appointment for you with the spa downstairs."

"Or..." Victoria tilted her head, her smirk growing. "You could be a dear and help out a tired boss."

She expected him to refuse. Maybe roll his eyes and remind her she had a meeting to attend. But to her surprise, Michael set his tablet down and stepped closer.

"If that's what you need, Ms. Harper." he said smoothly.

Victoria raised a brow but said nothing as Michael carefully took her foot in his hands, his touch firm but respectful. As his thumbs pressed into the arch, she let out an audible sigh of relief.

"Ooh, not bad, Michael. Not bad at all." She expressed.

Michael chuckled, his fingers working skillfully along the ball of her foot. "I aim to please."

Victoria hummed in approval. "Mmm, if only you weren't so stiff all the time. You'd make a great assistant and a personal masseur."

"Well, thank you, Victoria." Michael glanced up at her, a playful glint in his eyes. He smirked slightly, his confidence growing. "But I think I'll stick to my strengths—though this might be a close second."

Victoria grinned. "And yet, I have a feeling you could rise to the occasion in other areas too." She wiggled her foot slightly in his grasp. "I should warn you, though, I'm terribly ticklish."

Michael paused, his hands still resting against her foot. Then, with a mischievous smirk, he lightly ran a single finger along her arch.

Victoria gasped. Her foot twitched as laughter spilled from her lips.

"Oh... oh, you little..." she started, but Michael had already caught on. He scribbled his fingers along her sole, delighting in the way her foot wriggled in response.

"Not so composed now, are we?" he teased, increasing the speed of his movements.

Victoria burst into laughter, throwing her head back as she squirmed in her chair. "Okay! Okay! I take it back! You're terrible!"

Michael finally relented, releasing her foot with a satisfied grin. Victoria caught her breath, sitting up and shooting him a playful glare.

"You're lucky I enjoy a good challenge," she said, slipping her shoe back on.

"Noted," Michael replied, stepping back. "You have ten minutes until your meeting."

Victoria exhaled, running a hand through her hair. "I guess I should at least pretend to be serious for that."

As Michael turned to leave, she called after him, "Oh, and Michael?"

He glanced over his shoulder.

"I think I'll be needing your assistance more often," she said, smirking.

Michael smirked as he opened the door. "Always at your service, Victoria."

And with that, he exited, leaving Victoria grinning at her desk, already looking forward to their next interaction.
