Chapter 6: Antique Laughter

Hannah darted ahead, her eyes lighting up at every corner of the flea market. "Scott! Look at this mirror! Doesn't it have this whimsical, vintage vibe?"

Scott strolled behind her, pretending to inspect it with a skeptical tilt of his head. "Whimsical is one word. Haunted is another."

Hannah gasped in mock offense. "This is why you're just the bag carrier!"

She turned, ignoring him as her attention shifted to a top shelf in a nearby booth filled with colorful, hand-painted vases. One, in particular, caught her eye—a deep teal vase with golden accents.

"Scott! Look at that one! Isn't it stunning?" she said, pointing excitedly.

Scott raised an eyebrow. "It's at least six feet up. You're not seriously thinking of—"

But before he could finish, Hannah had already stepped onto a sturdy wooden crate beneath the shelf, propping one foot on its edge to steady herself.

"Relax, Scott. I've got this," she said, stretching to reach the vase. Her sandal slipped slightly, dangling loosely from her toes, revealing her soft, pink sole.

Scott crossed his arms, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Are you sure you don't need a hand?"

"I'm fine! Almost there..." Hannah reassured him.

Hannah was so focused on the vase that she didn't notice Scott crouch beside her. With her foot now bare and perfectly exposed, he couldn't resist.

"Hannah," he started in a tone of mock seriousness. "You're in a dangerous position right now. One wrong move, and—"

Before she could react, he ran his finger lightly across her exposed arch.

Hannah shrieked, gripping the shelf tightly as she burst into laughter. "Scott! What are you—ah! Stop it!"

Scott chuckled but kept her steady with one hand on her calf. "I'm helping! You're looking a little wobbly."

"Scott, I'm serious! I'm going to fall!" she cried, giggling uncontrollably as his fingers danced across her arch.

Realizing she was struggling to maintain her balance, Scott quickly held her waist to guide her down from the crate. But as soon as her feet were safely back on the ground, he seized the opportunity to pull off her dangling sandal completely.

"Now you're safe. But let's talk about this poor, defenseless foot of yours," he teased, holding her ankle lightly.

Hannah tried to pull away, laughing as he began tracing his fingers along her sole. "Scott, no! We're in public!"

"Then you should've thought about that before climbing a shelf," he quipped, switching to wiggle her toes.

Nearby shoppers glanced over with amused smiles as Hannah squirmed and laughed, barely able to stand. "Okay, okay! You win! Just give me back my sandal!"

Scott grinned wickedly as he held her ankle, her bare foot completely at his mercy. "Now, let's see... I think this little piggy went to the flea market," he teased, wiggling her big toe playfully.

"Hahaha! Scott, no! Not that!" Hannah cried, already dissolving into laughter.

"And this little piggy stayed home," he continued, moving to the next toe.

Nearby shoppers chuckled as Hannah squirmed and giggled uncontrollably.

"Okay, okay! Stop it! You're the worst!" she managed to gasp between fits of laughter.

Scott finally released her foot with a triumphant grin, holding up her sandal like a trophy. "Mission accomplished. Now behave, or I'll start over from the beginning!"

Hannah snatched her sandal back, glaring at him playfully as she slipped it back on. "You're impossible. Next time, I'm leaving you at home."

"Sure, sure," he said, slinging her tote bag over his shoulder. "But admit it—this flea market would be boring without me."

She couldn't argue with that, laughing as they continued through the market.
