I rose to my feet and bowed deeply to Paige, taking her hand. I kissed it, grinning up at her.
âWe need to tell them Iâm not a princess,â she whispered.
âNah, let them think theyâre entertaining royalty. Itâll give them something to brag about later.â
Her conspiratorial grin sunk through my bones. Definitely needed to get her alone with some chocolate syrup.
âIf one of you will come over,â Bart said. âIâll give you the prize.â He waved a hoof to the tall silver bag sitting on a nearby table.
I strode over and grabbed the bag, peeking inside while I walked back to Paige. I sank down beside her and shot her a mischievous smile. âYou wonât believe whatâs in here.â
âWhatâs in there?â she asked.
I tugged out a bottle of bubble bath and a sponge on a wooden stick.
âOh, that must be from Grannie Vi,â Paige said with a giggle. âThank you, Grannie Vi!â
âTheyâre not from her,â I whispered.
âActually, theyâre from us,â Monica said. âItâs a gag gift, though youâre welcome to use it any way youâd like. There are bathtubs in all the bedrooms.â
Iâd already noted the big claw-footed tub sitting near my windows. Paigeâs room had one as well?
âI have some ideas for that bubble bath,â Paige said, taking the sponge from my hands. She winked my way and lowered her voice. âIf someone could locate some chocolate, we might be able to have a party.â She nudged her chin to the tray that had held the mugs of cocoa, where a brown bottle of syrup sat. âI have a few ideas for that.â
âActually,â I said softly. âGrannie Viâs prize is still in the bag. Are you open to giving me carte blanche with the prize and the chocolate?â
