Chapter 17 of 17

don't go

stupid poems about love.248 words~2 min read

I'd ask you if you remember that night

But I don't have to

I know you do

Because I remember using all my might

Trying so, so hard not to cry

When I was driving you home

For the last time

And you played that song

Our song

And I desperately wanted to sing along

But if I had opened my mouth right then

All you would have heard was a sob

I parked the car when I got to your house

And I didn't even have to look over at you

To know you had begun crying, too

You buried your face in my chest

And you said to me,

"Don't go

Please don't go

Don't leave."

You said it like little kid

And I held you closer to me then

Than I think ever did.

And I can say with certainty

That was the most pain

I've ever felt in my life.

I stroked your face with my thumb

And I watched your blue eyes

And I was thinking

"Is this what it feels like to love someone?"

On the way home,

I screamed

Like a toddler in a store

Beating her fists on the floor

I screamed until I thought

It would kill me

Before it could hurt anymore

I was wrong, baby

I was wrong.

I told you before I left,

"I'm coming back for you"

And I am

Don't you forget.

I know you remember that night

You remember that night, don't you?
