At first, I found myself staring at my uncle for a while. Uncle Bart never asked me to help him with something.
When I once saw he was in trouble, I did in fact asked him if he needed my assistance, but uncle said that since I was his niece, he was the one who should help me, and not the other way around.
But of course, I didn't accept such excuse. So we made a deal.
Until I was thirty years old, he can only ask me to help him once.
That's why I'm quite scared, to be honest.
Nevertheless, Uncle Bart wanted it now, so I composed myself quickly.
"Okay," I nodded, letting him know he can continue talking. Before he did we sat on the couch in front of the TV.
Uncle Bart sent aunt a look, and she glared at him but went upstairs to her office.
"I know why you keep transferring schools, Rhi," Were his first words. I opened my mouth to protest, but uncle shut me off and kept on talking. "You don't like it there, and you think it's boring. Truthfully, I told your aunt myself that a private school won't be good for you." My brows lifted in surprise.
"H-how did you know?" I asked, looking at him curiously. Uncle Bart's lips turned up slightly in a small smile.
"Because, your mother thought the same thing." His words made me frown, but it went away as fast as it came. I turned my face a little more from the TV's light when my eyes started to throb.
When that didn't help, I shut it off.
Now the silence was the only thing that surrounded us.
Uncle cleared his throat before he began talking again, "Rhi, you must remember I am the principal of a school, right?" I nodded, don't really understand where he's going with it.
"Well, I have some... issues with the students. Since they're all boys, they like to give us a lot of troubles." I didn't actually know that Uncle Bart's school is for boys only. In fact, I don't even think it's a private school. I voice my thoughts out loud, "Is it a public school?" His answer was positive.
"So... what is it that you need from me?" Uncle paused for a few moments, like he is pondering about how to say his request.
"Rhi, what if I told you I will accept you to my school? A school that I grantee you shall never find 'boring'." I gave him a surprised but puzzled look. "Seriously?"
He ducked his head, "Yes. Will you agree to that?" I was baffled. Will I? "B-but aunt will never allow me to go," My face dropped a little when I realized that.
"Don't worry, I will make sure she won't know." A big smile appeared on my face, and I hugged my uncle.
He chuckled at me, "But!" I lifted my hands and sat back again, confused.
"But what?" I had a feeling Uncle Bart tried to smirk, though I couldn't exactly tell.
"I am going to make an agreement with you, so everything will be even more interesting," I lifted my brows. An agreement?
"You can stay in my school for your last two years if... By the end of the year, all of the boys will be well behaved enough so when I start accepting girls to the school, no parent will complain about them." I chocked on my saliva, coughing until it got out of my air tube. "What?! How the hell can I make your boys behave? They're teenager boys; do you accept them to be all nice and posh?" Uncle Bart laughed at me. "Posh? Since when did you start using British slangs?" "That's not the point!" He lifted a brow, as if testing me. "So what is the point, then?"
I let out a sigh, "The point is," pushing my hair out of my face, trying to calm down so aunt wouldn't hear our talk. "How the hell am I supposed to do that?"
Uncle got up from the couch, causing me to give him a questioning look.
Without turning back, uncle walked to the door. When he opened it, before he exited he said; "You'll figure it out."
I groaned in frustration.
"Oh!" I almost jumped when uncle's head showed up again from the door.
"School starts on Monday, make sure you take the right bus; I'll text you which one." And with that, he was gone.
Who says I'll agree to such a stupid idea?
*
By the next day, aunt told me she agreed with uncle's statement of me taking the bus.
She even gave me a talk about how important it is for the environment.
I was a bit surprised she listened to her brother.
Nevertheless, I didn't ask how uncle did that.
The rest of Saturday passed with me lying on my bed and staring at the deep blue ceiling.
Unfortunately, Sunday went by as slow as it can. I asked uncle about me missing days in my current-well, former- school. He said that he called on his sister behalf and told them I got transferred. Hopefully, they won't give us any troubles.
I did too much thinking since Uncle Bart's visit. So much, that it gave me a headache. Passing by the white bright walls and lights every time I took a snack from the kitchen was a pain.
Having photophobia did a lot more damage to my poor head.
I had to close the light -that was already weak- in my room, and go around house with my sunglasses.
At lunch time, I gave up and closed myself in the bedroom in the darkness.
After a nap, the pain stopped, but not the contemplations.
In the evening, I spent a lot of time debating what to wear. It took me way too long to realize how stupid I was, and chose my regular clothes; A red shirt that could have showed a little bit of my stomach, but with my jeans short the skin can only be seen if I lift my hands up really high.
In the morning of the next day, I added black stockings that had rips in them, and it left 1 inch -at least- of skin between the tights and shorts.
I left my hair down and took my bag, boots that almost reached my knees and black jacket.
Mrs. Crone always got angry with me for not wearing a uniform, so I was relieved I wouldn't have to worry about that. There were some rules about skirts and shorts and some more things I knew I'll never do.
"Good morning, world!" I yelled while running down the stairs. Aunt wasn't there, so I guessed she already left. "Good morning, Rhi." Belle Called from the kitchen. I debated if I should tell her about uncle's plan, but decided against it. The fourthly-years-old cook was usually on my side, however the less people knew-the better.
"Didn't you have problem with the uniform on Thursday?" She asked while I sat and staffed a pretzel in my mouth. I shrugged, playing along and chewing my food. After swallowing, I said, "It was just Mrs. Crone, nobody did anything about it so far."
Taking the last bites, I put one of the bag's straps on my shoulders and started to head to the door.
"Oh, Rhi!" I paused, turning toward Belle. "Your glasses," I gave her a sheepish smile and took the item from her hand. "Have a nice day." I nodded, "You too."
Hopefully, it will be. Though even if today wouldn't be, it doesn't matter.
I'm already satisfied.
Sort of.
