Around an hour later, Jason came back and called Grey to come join us again in the living room. I made sure Grey sat next to Caleb, hoping that it would somehow calm him down. I sat on Caleb's other side just to try and make the boy more comfortable. And because of the glare he sent my way.
Caleb was like a puppy, so I knew he couldn't bark, let alone bite. But still, I wanted him to slowly get used to being around his crush, especially if he wanted something to happen between them.
"I made a few calls and had a few meetings, and somehow I got them to let us go along with a part of our plan." Jason said, and I looked over Caleb at Grey to see what he thought about Jason being on our side. He didn't say anything and there wasn't much to read from his face, except that he still wasn't happy with the plan.
I looked back at Jason just as Reagan asked, "Which is?"
"You will have a tracking device on you, but you won't go alone. Either Grey or me have to come with you." His words made me frown as I thought about it.
The whole point was that Reagan will get taken because he was apparently the targeted as one of Woodblock's students. Won't it ruin his chances of being take?
I voiced my thoughts out loud, and Jason sighed.
"They're already not happy with how much I told you about the case. I was honestly lucky the somewhat agreed to let a teenage boy be a bait," He said. "not to mention we still don't know who's responsible, but hopefully once we catch the kidnapper and find the boys, we'll get the full picture.
Elliot nodded from across of me, "I think this is the best we can do. But how are we going to get the kidnapper take Reagan as well as either one of you? We don't even know where he takes them from." He claimed, making us all quiet. How are we going to do it?
"The texts," Caleb blurted, and we all turned to him, which made him blush a bit. I tried hard not to pinch his cheek because we were supposed to have a serious talk. It will probably only make him feel more uncomfortable.
"We can have another text sent. Maybe this is like a sign for the kidnapper to take a boy?" He continued, and when none of us said anything he quickly added, "Or maybe not, it's probably dumb," "No," The words came from none other than Grey. We all looked at him as his eyes were on Caleb. "I think you have a point. We should go with this idea and go to the school's ground on Friday since it always happens on Fridays." Jason nodded at his words, and I could see Caleb's ears have a red tint on them, making me smile.
"Okay, so we send the text on Friday and Reagan and Grey will walk around the school's ground? It would make sense, since I was at the school as a cop," We all nodded in agreement.
"Friday then," I agreed.
Friday it is.
*
On Friday morning, I told my aunt a friend of mine celebrated her birthday that time, and if I could skip school to go there. It took a lot of convincing and lies, but I think she bought it. I was going to be in so much troubles with her and uncle Bart, who had no idea what we were planning. I mean, I wasn't actually going to be involved in this 'operation', and we did have help from the police, but it still won't stop the, both from nagging. Which, I guess will only be fair. But now that I had the boys, it was hard to believe that after today I'll do something stupid like this again.
I was already full on mama bear, and Reagan and Grey weren't even taken yet. The text was sent, and we really did hope that it will make the kidnapper come out and take the two. There wasn't anyone around, since the school was closed for today- and officially next month, but not if we can try and put a stop to it. Hopefully that when the kidnapper will look for his next target, he will come here and see Reagan and Grey. But something that worried me is that up until now, the kidnapper never took the boys in pairs. It was always one boy every week. I told so to Jason, as well.
"This is it. Hopefully in a few hours the case will be closed, and the boys will be found," Jason said, looking at all of us as we stood as far as we could from the school.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" He turned to Reagan who stood besides me. Reagan turn his head to me, meeting my eyes with him before nodding with a sure look on his face. "I'm sure," He said, looking back at him.
"Alright, let's do this then. Grey, if you can, try to have space between you two," Jason told his friend and partner, who raised a brow at him in question. "Rhi told me how he only took one boy every week, and she's right. Because of that, we're going to slightly change our plan and you're only going to follow him without being noticed," Grey looked over to Reagan with a clench jaw, and I knew he wasn't happy with this. However, instead of objecting the new plan, he nodded.
Reagan started to walk, but I stopped him, grabbing his arm and making him turn to me. I looked at him, and I knew he saw how concern and scared I was. He smiled at me, moving his hand and putting it on my head.
"I'll be back. You're not going to get rid of me this easily," Reagan assured me, making me mumble back so only he can hear, "Wasn't planning to," He looked at me for a few more seconds, and it seemed like he had more to say, but he only whispered, "Later", and I wasn't sure if it was intended for me to hear.
Klay put his hand on my shoulder as we watched Reagan and Grey as they started to walk away. "It'll be fine, don't worry." He told me, and for once there was no playfulness in his voice. Klay sounded... mature, as he reassured me all will go smoothly. I found myself looking at him and tearing up, thinking of our first meeting.
"Thank you," He raised a brow at my words. "for inviting me to the group and giving me friends. And for being a good friend, too." I explained farther, holding back the tears. Klay smiled again and nodded.
"Okay, we're live," Jason said, and we all walked to him as he held to a laptop where he could track Reagan. He also had a communication device as he occasionally talked with his fellow officers who were also in on this plan.
I don't know how long we were waiting, but suddenly Grey's voice sounded.
"He got hit on the head and taken by two man in a black jeep," He said, and I felt my stomach turn.
Jason sighed, probably in relief that the plan was actually working. "Now we need to wait and hope that they're taking him to the same place the other boys are." He said, talking to the device.
"God, I think I'm going to puke," I said to no one in particular as I went into all of the scenarios were the plan will fail and Reagan won't come back.
"Come here and sit down," Said Oliver, who stood up and was leaning on a wall besides Elliot, who was already sitting down there.
I sat down in between the two and Oliver patted me on the head, just as Elliot grabbed my hand. "Thanks," I told them both as I felt slightly less panicked.
Now it was time to wait and hope for the best.
*
After a while, Grey returned and Jason said to his colleagues to start and follow the car, the tracking still clear on the screen.
"How much longer?" Thomas asked, looking like his patience was starting to run out just like mine.
We were all on the edge, afraid that any second something bad will happen.
"Jason," A voice came through the communication device. "We have an eye on the men. They are taking out the boy and getting into an abandoned building, where a third man is waiting and talking on the phone, over." The cop said, making all of us tense up.
"Copy that, prepare the SWAT team for entrance, over." Jason said back, making me look at Grey who came to stand close to us. "A SWAT team?" I mumbled. It made sense to have one for a case like this, but I was still surprised.
Grey didn't answer, looking at Jason as he tapped his foot with impatience. We all wanted this to be over.
Jason pressed the button on the device and said, "If the coast is clear, get into the building, over."
"Copy that, we're getting in, over." And then we all went silent.
My heart was beating so fast, I swear everyone heard it. I tightened my grip on Elliot hand as we all waited for a confirmation that Reagan was safe, and the boys were found.
There was a sound from the device before the cop said, "We secured the area and found the boys, over," and we all stared at each other for a while before the words sank in.
"Copy that, good job. Count them all and make sure they're all there and the kidnappers don't escape, over." I looked at the others, a big smile on my face. "They're okay," I said, as if trying to confirm what I just heard. Jason sent a smile my way and nodded, "They are. We did it, Rhi. You should be proud, I'm not sure we could've done the without you." I nodded, though I wasn't sure how much I agreed with his words. We all made it possible. We did it together. I stood up on shaky legs and started to walk out of the hiding place, turning around and continued to walk backwards with a huge smile on my face.
"I think this deserve a celebr-" I froze as I turned back around, staring at a gun pointed at me.
"What the- Ms. Glenn?" I heard the others hurry in my directions, only stopping short when they saw the woman who held a gun to me.
"The girls academy's principal?" Oliver asked from behind me as we all stared at the woman in question in shock.
"You just had to get yourself involve in all of this, didn't you?" She asked, a mocking smile on her face.
What the hell was she on about?
"You're the one behind this, aren't you?" Thomas asked, though it was more of a statement than a question. "To get the school board to reconsider their decision to let girls come to Woodblock High," He continued, and when she didn't deny his words, we knew Thomas was right.
"Seriously? What the hell is wrong with you?" I scowled at her, which caused her to take another step towards me.
An idea came to my head. A stupid, rational idea that will get me yelled at.
Nothing new, right?
"Rhi," Grey warned me, probably thinking it was best not to piss a crazy woman who had a gun pointed at me.
A stupid, crazy woman.
"That idiot principal has no idea what even happens at his own school. Fights every Friday like it's some kind of sick tradition, boys who don't know how to act their own age. And he wants to let girls into the school? Well, not on my watch. So yes, I ordered some men to kidnap some boys to show the school's board how unsafe this school is. Once I get what I wanted, they would've let go," She turned her eyes back to me, narrowing them. "But you just went and tried to be the hero, the savior. The girl who was sent to the all-boy school in order to teach them some manners, only to later be expelled. How fitting that you have no manners, yourself," Ms. Glenn went on and took another step closer.
I smiled. "You're stupid if you think that those boys need any manners lessons," I mocked her, and it seems my words got to her as she took another step closer. "Watch it," She said and waved the gun again, as if to remind me she was holding it to my head.
But I knew that very well. She was right where I needed her.
"Yes, they cause a lot of troubles, and yes, I got hurt by a few who no longer can stain the others with their stupid actions ones. But you know what? I can tell you that they would've stopped at nothing to look for their friends, if we didn't find them today. They are loyal to their friends, and at the end of the day yeah, they do stupid sh*t. But they will grow out of it. They'll become better." I risked another step towards her. Just a bit more...
"While you? Currently, you are holding a gun to an eighteen years old teenage girl. I'd say you're do one who need to be taught manners." I smirked at her, getting into a stance as she took one step closer to me, the anger is clear on her face. Perfect. I smiled before in a swift and sudden motion, I grabbed her hand and quickly disarmed her. "I-di-ot," I said in a singsong voice, "you're not supposed to get close to your target with a gun." I rolled my eyes, as if annoyed at her ignorance, while she gaped at me and tried to think of her next move. She was behaving rationally, so I knew she will make a run for it.
So, I pulled my arm before pushing it forward, and like I did any times in life, I punched her face. This was all it took for her to drop to the floor, clenching to her probably broken nose. I shook my hand, trying to ignore the pain as I turn around. Only to see seven set on narrowed eyes on me. I visibly wince, and then my smart self-decided to ask, "Violent isn't the answer?"
Grey took a step towards me before snatching the gun from my hand. "You're in so much trouble," He told me as he crossed his arms and Jason went around me to Ms. Glenn with cuffs in hand. Then, his eyes soften, and I was suddenly pulled to him in a hug.
"I knew you were trouble when you walked in," I heard Klay say before he warped his hand around both of us. "Are you quoting Taylor Swift?" I turned my head slightly to look at Klay as asked him and caught the sight of a big smile on his face. "Yeah," I conformed, and he looked like he was waiting for one of my snarky comments. But instead of that, I opted for shrugging my shoulders. In response, his arms tightened around me, just as more hands came around and soon, I was in the middle of a group hug.
"You're all in troubles too, you realize that right?" Grey asked after a while, which made the boys groan.
"What? Why are we in troubles, too?" Klay asked him as we all started to move away from each other.
Oliver came from behind him and out his arm around his shoulders. "You should just be quiet, you're going to make it worse," Klay almost growled at him, but Grey told them to shut up and start walking home.
"Wait, we're walking home?" Thomas asked his brother, making us groan at him. "Why would you give him ideas?" Elliot asked him, scowling as he grabbed my arm as we began walking.
Jason was going to stay there with Ms. Glenn until a police car will come and take her. He gave me a look and said that he'll call me and we'll set a meeting at a cafe or something, and I knew he was going to give me a very very long talk. But not long as my aunt and uncle's one.
"Thank you, little brother," Grey said, ignoring Elliot's words. "You guys are going to walk home," We all groaned again.
"Except for you." Grey said and looked at Caleb, which made the boy turn red and me to smile, before I realized what that meant. "Wait, what the hell? I call favoritisms and I want to overthrow the reign of the Dark Prince!" We all stopped, and the boys gave me a look.
"Keep it up and I'll make sure you won't leave your house for a week," Grey warned, grabbing Caleb's hand- an action that made him jump in surprised. If I wasn't mad at Grey, I would've taken some pictures.
"What?! How can you eve-mmmh!" Elliot hand on my mouth cut me short, and I glared at him.
"Don't make it worse, Rhi. Trust me, he will carry on with his promise," Klay said and winced, as if he remembered something.
Grey looked at him with an empty look, then moved his eyes over the rest of us. "You guys better be in the house when we get there," He said, turning around with a confused, shy Caleb following his steps, not before giving me a look.
"It's a twenty minutes' walk and a ten minutes' drive," Oliver noted, glancing at Grey as he walked away.
"Then you better start running," The blond man said.
We all looked at each other, and Elliot grabbed Oliver's arm. "We should definitely start running now," He said.
And then we ran.
*
Turns out that a twenty minutes' walk can only change to a fifteen minutes' run. Long story short, we got grounded for two weeks. It was a weird type of grounding, since we all had to come to Grey and Thomas' house after school and not go out anywhere. Also, we had to finish our homework before doing anything else
My aunt gave me quite the earful once I was home, and apparently Jason updated her and my uncle about what happened.
She said I was grounded, of course, and couldn't go out anywhere for at least a week. I told her about Grey's grounding, and after a talk she had with him she told me I was to go to his house every day after school and could only come back home or stay there.
I also told her about the boys and Reagan being my boyfriend- which to that, she said she was going to give me 'the talk'-, and I talked to her about letting Elliot stay with us. I knew that the one who would actually need the convening will be Elliot, and not her. I was right about both, since my aunt agreed almost immediately after I told her a bit about his situation. Elliot was convinced after I said that he was like a little brother to me, so it shouldn't be weird for him to live with me.
He looked like he was about to cry, and then Klay walked in, talking angrily about how he was going to make a card game one day and beat Oliver every time.
Reagan was fine, only getting a few stitches on his head where he was hit. I fussed about it for a really long time until he shut me off with a kiss.
"I'm just worried!" I told him again after that, crossing my arms.
He rolled his eyes, but there was a smile on his face. "I know," He said after a moment, pulling me into his bed he laid on. The day before, he invited me over because his mom wanted to have dinner the three of us, now that she knew I was her son's girlfriend. I was a bit unsure about it, not wanting to disturb their dinner, but he immediately said how it wasn't the case.
"I love it when you worry about me like that," Reagan whispered, kissing my lips shortly before pulling away.
"I love you." He said, and my heart pretty much stopped. Somehow, I managed to tell him I loved him too, and from there the evening continued.
Honestly, thank god his bedroom walls were soundproof and his mom's room was far away.
Now, I was standing with the guys at the school's entrance, looking at the students as they came in.
The school stayed opened after we found the boys and everything came to light. The school's board decided to revoke their decision to close Woodblock, and I heard Ms. Glenn was going to jail for a few years for what she did.
However, it was decided that for now, Woodblock was going to stay an all-boy school. But only for now, and then it will be both girls and boys school.
So, as of now, I won't study the rest of the year and  my senior year at Woodblock, but it's okay. I wasn't very sad about it.
Also, I was a bit high on revenge, since yesterday I saw Mir with the boys, and I may or may not punched the hell out of her.
We agreed not to tell Grey about it, since he probably would've told my aunt.
Thought, they made me promise not to punch anyone again, unless it was for self-defense. It was still totally worth it, though.
I wasn't standing at the entrance with the boys because I was joining the school. No, the reason I was here was still unknown.
Uncle Bart asked me to come, and considering how he didn't give me his talk, I'd say this was the reason.
"Do you think he knows about the whole gun disarming, too?" Reagan asked, a hand around my shoulders. I shoved an elbow to his side, but he only laughed from that.
Those boys are never going to live this one down.
"Let's go," Thomas said, "you should just get this over with." I sighed, but he had a point. He was smart like that.
As we started to walk, I heard my name being called. A few boys turned to look at me as one familiar guy ran towards me with a big smile on his face, and another guy- probably his friend- trailing behind him and laughing at him as he watches the boy run.
"Lake!" I called his name, a smile on my own face. His friend was one of the missing boys.
"How are you?" I asked, looking at him as the other guy reached us as well.
"I'm good, now that my friend is back, which I heard is thanks to you." I blinked at his words. Where did hear that? I looked at my friends, trying to see if they're the ones behind it.
"The principal is going to talk to us at the gym, the whole school will be there. Are you coming?" He asked me, a hopeful look on his face.
I shrugged, "I'm not sure, since I don't go here anymore," this made Lake smile. "'Cause you were expelled, right?" He asked, reminding me of our first talk.
"Anyway, I hope I'll see you around," Lake said before waving at me, his friend doing the same before they both walk away.
We continued to walk to my uncle's office, before my name was called out again.
The person who came our way made the boys tense up and Reagan pushed me closer to his side.
Daniel cleared his throat and rubbed his head, clearly feeling all the tension.
"Sorry, I just wanted to say that... I appreciate what you did. And I'm also sorry to, you know..." He trailed off but he had me to complete his sentence. "A dick?" He visibly winced.
"That's cool, though I still want to punch you. So I guess that means we're okay," I told him, which made he frown at me, before giving me a small, uncertain smile. "Right... see you around, then," Daniel said, before turning and walking away as fast as he could.
"Well that was..." "Weird? Yeah, I totally held myself back from punching him, that was so crazy," Oliver gave me a look, but then smiled.
"Okay," I began once we were in front of my uncle's office. "Wish me luck?" I asked, giving them a nervous look.
Elliot gave me a pointed look, "Are you saying that or asking?" I cleared my throat at that, before saying the latter.
"You'll be fine," My sweet shy boy said, giving me a reassuring smile. I nodded, going into the office.
"About time," My uncle said, putting down his phone as he looked at me. "I reached level one hundred and twelve on candy crush until you came," He said, looking too serious to say something like that.
"Sit." He ordered, and I did just that.
"So I'm guessing your aunt already gave you an earful about what happened," Uncle Bart stated, crossing his arms.
I flinched just from remembering my aunt's talk, then nodded.
"Good, now I don't have to do it." His words me gape at him.
"Wasn't that why you called me?" I asked, puzzled by his words.
My uncle shook his head. "No, I called you because I'm going to have a talk with all the students and tell them about what you and your friends did. I wanted you do be there when I was talking about it, since I think that even though it was dangerous and a bit stupid, you guys deserve it." I stared at him in silence, letting his words sink in. "Right. Thank you," I found myself saying.
Uncle Bart shook his head, "I'm the one who should thank you, Rhi." He claimed.
"How so? I didn't do what you asked. They boys are still... well, boys, and the school is still an all-boys school. I didn't hold my end of the deal." I said, trying to make him understand why there's no reason to thank me.
"Yeah, but you did get the close to stay open, so you did save my school. For that, I should thank you. Not to mention, the school will accept girls. Besides, I think those boys are fine the way they are. They are, like you say, 'still boys'. Nonetheless, it will only be in a few years, so unfortunately, you won't be able to return here." He said, an apologetic look on his face. "I'm sorry, I know how much it meant to you, going to school here." I smiled at him, shaking my head.
"It doesn't matter anymore," I told him, feeling how true it was.
My uncle frowned, "I thought you were bored with private schools. Are going to a different public school?" I shook my head. "No, it just that I... I don't care anymore. About going to a private school, I mean. I met some really good friends here and somehow I also have a boyfriend, so I'm not bored anymore. In fact, I know that every moment I'll spend with them it will be the exact opposite." I explain, a smile on my face and warm feeling in my stomach. Or heart. I think it was my heart.
My uncle smiled, genuinely happy for me.
"That's good, though I do expect an introduction later." I nodded at his words and watch as he stood up.
"Well, come on. Being late is rude, and your aunt and I taught you better manners than that." I rolled my eyes at his word but stood up.
Outside, the boys were still standing, waiting for me.
"So you're my niece's new friends," He said, giving me what could only described as an evil look.
They nodded, standing straight and looking at my uncle with seriousness.
"So which one of you is her boyfriend?"
And that moment I knew, that one- my uncle was so giving me 'the talk' with my aunt, and two;
I have the best family in the entire world, and I wouldn't change anything about them.
Even if they didn't have any manners.
~*~
So... this is it, ah? It's weird to think that I finish the book.
I want to say this- there won't a second book, because I think that the story I wanted to tell is now completed. I think I might to a few bonus chapters.
So the first one, should I do one about Caleb and Grey? Like a date, or something?
The second one, should I make it about the guys first meetings? Like what Thomas said, only it was at the time it happen and stuff...
The third one I'm definitely making, which is about Rhi and the guys going to a vacation or something, I don't know.
I could make all three, so just let me know what you want to read!
So, let talk about the ending. I feel like I left it a bit open, which I liked. Thoughts?
And how at the end, Rhi doesn't goes back to Woodblock, but she's okay with that.
And the boys at the school not really changing, because what the hell is considered to be well mannered? Especially if your heart is in a good place, is it okay to be more 'Rhi' every now and then?
Another think I wanted to ask- do you guys have any questions for me? Maybe I can do a Q&A for the characters? Let me know!
So, I think I pretty much covered everything .
Oh! I have a book that I'm trying to write, and it's going to be an RH. I want to write a few chapters before I start uploading, so not sure when it's coming. However I'm pretty sure it will be soon.
In the meantime, do check out my other books! I have time to updated them, so expect that!
Lastly, I want to thank all of you for reading, voting and commenting, and of course waiting so patiently for me to update, even though sometimes I took months! I wouldn't have continued if it weren't for you, so thank you!
I'll see you next time!
