Tavon wanted to show Salma how much he cared for their daughter. Salma loved Anastasia dearly.
Only when she saw his genuine care for Anastasia would she even consider forgiving him.
Surprised, Salma asked, âHave you seen Anastasia and her husband privately?â
Anastasia had kept her meeting with Tavon a secret from Salma..
With a chuckle, Tavon replied, âYes, Iâve seen her. Youâve raised Anastasia well, Salma. She even asked for child support from me, not a lot though. I gave her 280,000, but she only took 140,000.
Anastasia is smart and decisive. Sheâd do a brilliant job if she could help me run the company.â
Tavonâs praises for Anastasia warmed Salmaâs heart and filled her with pride. As for the child support, Salma was clueless. However, she knew Anastasia always had a reason for her actions and she wouldnât question her.
Upon hearing Tavonâs intention to bring Anastasia into the company, Salma was taken aback, âAre you willing to let Anastasia join your company?â
âSheâs my daughter. She should inherit my business. Plus, sheâs incredibly talented. I canât let such talent go to waste. I want her to help me run the vineyard, and take over sooner.â Tavon said.
Holding Salmaâs hand, Tavon said, âSalma, I couldnât make decisions before, but now I can. I have to bring Anastasia back to the Morton family. I owe you that. I know youâve been waiting for me.â
Over the years, Salma had been waiting for Tavon, hoping that Anastasia could see him as her father.
Salma was a traditionalist. Once she chose someone, she would stand by him. As Tavonâs daughter, it was only right for Anastasia to live with him.
Tavonâs sincere repentance made Salmaâs heart waver âSalma, think about it, and please talk to Anastasia for me. Sheâs stubborn and only listens to you.â
Worried about Anastasiaâs return, Tavon didnât dare stay long. âGet some rest, Iâll come see you tomorrow Iâm staying at a nearby hotel, hereâs my number, call me anytime.â
Salmaâs heart had been quiet for over 20 years, but Tavonâs return stirred up her emotions. If Tavon had been gentle to her from the start, she wouldnât be so angry. Women were naturally soft hearted. If a man sweet talked them, they could hardly resist his requests.
Salma had been deceived by Tavonâs sweet nothings all her life, and now she found herself falling for him again.
After Tavon left, Salma hid the stock transfer documents under her pillow. She was afraid that Anastasia would see them, and she couldnât tell her about the house yet, knowing Anastasia too well.
As soon as Tavon left, Anastasia came back with lunch, âMom, I got us some food. Iâll eat with you.
Hermanâs aunt heard about your injury and wanted to visit, but I think you can be discharged tomorrow, so I didnât let her come.â
Salma could recover from her injury at home.
Anastasia set up a small table on the bed and laid out the lunch, âYou have to stay with me this time.
You need someone to take care of you with your leg in this state. I havenât started work yet, so I can take care of you at home.â
Salma couldnât find a reason to refuse this time, âIâll move back once my injury heals.â
Anastasia sighed, âMom, do you feel uncomfortable living with me and my husband? You havenât even moved in and youâre already planning to leave.â
Salma replied, âWe old folks have a different lifestyle from you young folks. You two should live your lives. Iâd only be in the way at your place.â
Anastasia couldnât convince Salma, and handed her a fork, âEat first, then Iâll take you for a walk downstairs.â
Just as Salma was about to eat, she remembered what Tavon said, hesitated, and asked, âAna, do you want to return to the Morton family?â
Hearing this, Anastasiaâs face turned serious, âDid Tavon come to see you?â
Only then did Anastasia notice the gifts and flowers under the bed.
âMom, did he sweet talk you again?âAnastasia spoke calmly, without any accusation. As their child, it was not her place to comment on her parentsâ actions.
Looking at Anastasiaâs expression, Salma said, âYour father did come. He wants you to return to the Morton family and help manage the vineyard. Sandyâs illness is under control. They have time to look for other suitable donors.â
âWhat if they donât find one?â Anastasia looked at Salma, âIf I go back to the Morton family, heâll placate me first, then when the time comes, heâll ask me to help Sandy in the name of family. Heâll say I have to do the bone marrow transplant. If I refuse, heâll accuse.me of not caring about family. What should I do then?â
