Greta said, âYesterday while I was cleaning the gutters, I stumbled upon this emerald pendant, shaped like a cloud. Were you looking for this?â
Upon hearing this, Thalassaâs mind went into disarray, and her entire body stiffened. This cloud-shaped emerald pendant was left to her by the childrenâs father as a token to find him. Over the years, she had never found it, and she had lost hope and stopped searching for it. She had planned to raise the kids on her own, live a quiet and stable life.
Even without a father, she would give the kids double the love, making up for their lack of a paternal figure.
She had accepted this reality, not expecting to find their father anymore. But now, her neighbor was telling her she found the emerald pendant. Thalassa was feeling a mix of surprise, joy, disbelief, and worry.
âThalassa, why so quiet? Donât need this emerald pendant anymore? Then â¦â Greta started to nudge, sensing Thalassaâs silence.
Snapping back to reality. Thalassa quickly said, âI need it, of course I need it. Greta, please keep it safe for me. Iâll be right over. I canât thank you enoughâ
Hearing Thalassaâs response, Greta contentedly said, âOkay, hurry up then. Iâll wait for you.â
After hanging up, Thalassa was both excited and nervous. She went to the living room and told her mother Evelyn, âMom, I need to head back to the village. Now.â
âWhatâs the rush? Something happened back home?â Evelyn was puzzled at Thalassaâs frantic demeanor.
Thalassa never mentioned the childrenâs father or the emerald pendant to Evelyn. Caught off guard, she quickly said, âSomething important came up. I need to go back immediately.â
As she spoke, she started putting on her shoes, ready to leave. Finding the emerald pendant meant possibly finding the childrenâs father. The painful memories from five years ago had passed. The kids longed for a fatherâs company. Even though Thalassa didnât want to revisit the past, she now had to face it.
Evelyn stood up, âThalassa, Iâll come with you. Iâve been here for a while and want to check on the house.â
âMommy, I want to go too. Dorian jumped off the couch, his eyes full of anticipation.
âMommy, me too.â Atticus joined in.
âMe too, I want to go back.â Elowen rushed over, her rosy cheeks puffed up, afraid of being left out.
âMommy, me too.â Sophia chimed in.
Seeing her familyâs eager eyes, Thalassa nodded, âOkay, weâll all go back. Iâll rent a car and weâll head straight there. Because of the urgency, she decided to rent a car instead of taking the train.
Soon the family of seven arrived at their hometown.
Upon reaching the village, Thalassa noticed the changes. The old dirt roads were now concrete, leading straight to her doorstep.
They got out of the car, and Thalassa was shocked at the sight. Astrid exclaimed in surprise, âOh my gosh, whereâs our bouse? Where did our house go?â
She anxiously looked around, but the old house was nowhere in sight, and she started to tremble. She was only gone for a while, and the house disappeared.
Thalassa scanned the area, finally resting her gaze on a tall villa in front of her. Looking up at this four-
story villa, she murmured in awe. âCould this be⦠our house?â
