âI gotta run,â Leopold said, âIâm here to fetch my jacket.â
Every word he had just said was genuine, no bullshit or sweet talk.
He really missed her.
He had been missing her for five years.
But even after five years, she wouldnât forgive him.
Now, he could only meet her under some lame excuse.
âWhat jacket?â Thalassa seemed confused.
âThe blazer I lent you last night,â Leopold answered.
Thalassa suddenly remembered. She went downstairs in her pajamas last night.
For some weird reason, Leopold insisted on draping his jacket over her.
Afterwards, because she was wearing his jacket, she got on the wrong side of the quirky Lysander, which led to her being threatened and drenched by him.
âI donât have it,â Thalassa said.
âThalassa, are you keeping it as a memento? You still love me, donât you? Why canât you overcome the obstacles and be with me?â
Upon hearing this, Thalassa felt incredibly hassled and helpless. She calmly said, âYouâre overthinking.
Iâve told you many times. I have no feelings for you anymore. I didnât return your jacket not because I donât want to, but because my mom washed it. Itâs all wet now.â
âNo worries. Iâll swing by your place and grab it, and say hi to your mom,â Leopold said before hanging up.
âWait, donât come up. My mom doesnât want to see you. Are you downstairs now?â Thalassa hurriedly asked.
âYeah.â
âJust wait there. Iâll be right down,â Thalassa hung up after speaking.
Just as she was about to open the door, she remembered she was still in her pajamas.
With that lesson learned, she couldnât go out in her pajamas again. So she dashed back to her room, changed into clothes, and then went out.
Downstairs was a dimly lit street.
Leopoldâs tall silhouette stood under the streetlight, casting a long shadow.
He was wearing a silver-grey blazer today, coupled with his chestnut hair. He had an air of a devil-may-
care, rich playboy.
Thalassa walked over, maintaining a stepâs distance. âThe jacket is really wet. Itâs hard to take down.
How about this? Iâll mail it to your office when it dries.â
His jacket was ripped off by Lysander last night and thrown in the bathroom of Lysanderâs private villa.
She had no idea if it was still there.
Whether it was there or not, she couldnât retrieve it.
She would have to buy a new one and give it to Leopold.
âThalassa, letâs talk in the car.â Leopold looked at her, his gaze was gentle and affectionate.
All these excuses were just for him to see her. He didnât really need that jacket.
But just seeing her once wasnât enough.
He wished their time together could last a little longer, a bit more.
âNever mind. Iâve explained. Iâm going back now.â Thalassa declined.
âThen Iâll walk you back and say hello to your mom.â Leopold followed her.
Thalassa stopped. She took a deep breath, looking somewhat annoyed. She helplessly said, âFine, letâs talk in the car.â
Thalassa opened the car door and got in. Leopold followed suit and they both sat in the backseat.
He had no ill intentions. He just wanted to get closer to her to catch her scent. That was all he needed to be satisfied.
âAre you coping well at work?â Leopold tried to make conversation.
âItâs okay.â Thalassa wasnât really in the mood for a chat. She just wanted to get home as soon as possible because she was tired and needed rest.
âThalassa, I need to remind you. Keep your distance from Lysander as much as possible. He doesnât have much patience for women. Women who have offended him usually end up in a bad place.â
Leopold said.
