He circled his desk, stepping in front of her. His finger traced her chin upward, the handsome harshness and wicked charm of his face creating a tantalizing blend of masculine allure.
âWho said you canât engage in rigorous activities?â His deep, seductive voice was reminiscent of a cello playing a sensual tune, dangerous and enticing.
The words made Thalassaâs heart flutter with surprise and thrill. Her eyes widened a fraction as she quickly retorted, âIâm at work, I canât exactly start doing jumping jacks in the officeâ¦â
Her heart pounded as Lysanderâs dangerously strong aura enveloped her, the threat of total surrender looming.
1 Lysander observed her nervousness, h. Her long eyelashes were trembling slightly like butterfly wings, utterly captivating.
His hand touched her skin, smooth, delicate, soft. The scent of her was as sweet as honey.
Swallowing hard, Lysander lifted her face, and was about to lean in for a kiss.
âLysander, long time no see! Missed me?â A cheerful voice echoed from the doorway.
Startled, Thalassa quickly retreated a few steps, distancing herself from the danger zone, and maintaining a gap of a few feet between herself and Lysander.
Charlotte Ravensong entered, her eyes briefly flaring with anger as she spotted the intimate scene.
Quickly repressing her annoyance, she maintained her cheery smile and approached Lysander.
âLysander, Grandpa Zephyr mentioned a family dinner tonight. We should go together.â
She reached out, intending to link arms with him.
Lysander swiftly returned to his chair, leaving Charlotte hanging. Her smile faltered for a moment, but she maintained her composure, radiating elegance and warmth.
Thalassa nodded in acknowledgement and quietly exited the office.
With a cool glance, Lysander addressed Charlotte, âI have no intentions of marrying you.â
Charlotteâs smile froze. Tears welled up in her eyes as she tearfully protested, âBut Grandpa Zephyr said weâre betrothedâ¦â
âWhen you were dating other men, you didnât seem to remember our supposed betrothal. But now that youâre done playing the field, you suddenly recall it.â Lysander lit up a cigarette, the smoke curling around him.
Unable to hold back her tears, Charlotte approached him,. She lookinged as pitiful as a wounded bird, âI didnât know about it at first. GMy grandpa told me afterwards. I broke up with my boyfriend as soon as I found out.â
âYour grandfather and mine were merely jesting. You donât need to take it to heart. Go ahead and date whoever you like. Iâll still give you a wedding gift when the time comes.â After a puff of smoke, Lysander made his stance clear.
He was well aware of Zephyrâs intentions to pair Charlotte with him, but he had no interest in Charlotte and certainly didnât need a marriage alliance to strengthen the Sinclair gGroup..
His previous refusals had been vague, leaving room for hope. However, this time his words were blunt, leaving no room for misinterpretation. Hearing his words, Charlotte felt as though sheâd been stabbed in the heart. She struggled to keep her composure, h. Her voice choked with emotion, âLysander, I know youâre not ready to settle down. But donât worry, Iâll wait until you are.â
With that, Then Charlotte turned and left the office, wiping away her tears as she stormed towards Thalassaâs office.
Her frustration needed an outlet, and she found it in Thalassa. Bursting into her office, she swept the files off Thalassaâs desk onto the floor, angrily accusing, âYou shameless hussy! Playing both sides!
Youâre so cheap, why not just sell yourself?â
The words were harsh and insulting.
Thalassa knocked Charlotteâs accusing finger away, her clear eyes flaring up as she retorted, âYouâre describing yourself! If you canât have it, you throw a tantrum. Is this the upbringing of the Ravensong heiress?â
âWhy do you get to monopolize Leopoldâs heart and keep getting close to Lysander, never leaving him alone?â Charlotte was panting with anger.
Thalassa stood up, her anger rushing forward like a tidal wave, âExactly! Why should I? If youâre so charming and capable, why donât you go snatch Lysander away? Instead of Why are you still wasting everyoneâs time with your petty complaints!â
