Thalassaâs heart pounded within her chest and her hands were tugging at her shirt as if they were tearing the fabric apart. Thatâs when a familiar voice rang out.
âAlright, get back to work. Sophia needs to get ready for school, so Iâll talk to you later. Bye.â
With that, the call ended.
Thalassa heaved a sigh of relief, turning her gaze towards Lysander. His deep, penetrating gaze met hers, filling her with unease.
âNext time, donât use such sweet words with others.â Lysanderâs voice was icy as he handed her back her phone.
Thalassa was puzzled, âBut that was just a four-year-old kid.â
âI said no, and I mean it!â Lysanderâs tone was assertive, his eyes piercing.
âI understand.â Thalassa lowered her gaze in acquiescence.
But inside, she was grumbling. People would think heâs even jealous of a child; but the truth is, this super domineering man is controlling me in every way possible. She thought.
He didnât want her getting too close to other men.
He didnât want her to express any affection toward others.
He was trying to mold her entire being to his liking.
This realization left Thalassa feeling suffocated.
With a final, piercing glance, Lysander turned and left the room.
The air was not as tense as before, so Thalassa breathed a sigh of relief.
She tidied up and descended the stairs, but found Lysander was nowhere to be seen She asked Fitch, âWhere did Lysander go?â
>
3 âHeâs working in the study. Ms. Everhart, breakfast is ready. Please eat.â Fitch was as respectful and polite as always.
Despite the previous dayâs events, Fitchâs attitude towards Thalassa hadnât changed.
She was the first woman Lysander had brought home, and even after learning she had sold the circular pendant, he had not asked her to leave.
Clearly, she held a special place in Lysanderâs heart.
As the butler, Fitch continued to treat her with respect.
âActually, Iâll wait for Lysander and eat with him. It doesnât feel right to eat alone,â Thalassa said.
Fitch didnât object.
Thalassa glanced around the living room, then said, âYou can get back to your work. Iâll just wander around a bit.â
Fitch nodded and returned to the kitchen.
She walked around the hall and checked every corner. With no one watching, Thalassa pushed open the back door and stepped into the backyard.
The backyard was a riot of color, filled with blooming flowers and lush greenery. The scent of flowers hung in the air.
The spring breeze, laden with the fragrance of flowers, was intoxicating.
But Thalassa wasnât in the mood to appreciate the beauty of her surroundings. She was on a mission to find the missing circular pendant.
The door to the antique collection room was made of glass. Thalassa tried to push it open, but found it locked.
}
She peered inside, noting that the display table, once crowded with a variety of porcelain and jade, now held only a few pieces.
Perhaps the items she had broken had not yet been restored.
Thalassa scanned the room, her gaze sweeping across every corner in search of the circular pendant.
But after a thorough search, there was no sign of it.
âLooking for another one?â A cold, magnetic voice sounded from behind her.
Thalassa jumped, her heart pounding as she turned to face the pair of dangerous eyes. She stuttered, âNo, not at all. I was just looking for the circular pendantâ¦
âDo you like it that much?â Lysander moved closer, his cold, dangerous aura enveloping her.
His towering figure cast a long shadow over Thalassa. She shuddered, stepping back without giving much thought.
