âMom, what happened to your face?â Atticus was the first to notice the bandage on Thalassaâs cheek.
The bandage was small, and no one had noticed the wound on Thalassaâs face in their early excitement.
Atticus was half sprawled on Thalassa, his little face burrowed into her chest. When he looked up, he saw the white bandage on her face â the unmistakable sign of an injury.
As soon as Atticus voiced his concern, the other little ones also looked up; their eyes were drawn to Thalassaâs cheek.
1 âDoes it hurt, mom? I can blow on it for you.â Sophia scrambled up from Thalassaâs lap, puckered her lips, and gently blew air towards Thalassaâs bandaged face.
Her soft and tender gesture was both heartwarming and endearing.
âDid someone hurt you, mom?â Dorianâs eyes welled up with tears at the thought of his mom being hurt.
âMom, umâ¦â Elowen, who was just snuggling up moments ago, now looked at Thalassa with a pained expression.
âItâs okay, itâs just a minor scratch. Iâm not in pain, my little darlings. Donât worry.â Thalassa sat up and comforted her little ones.
With the love and concern from her children, Thalassa felt an overwhelming sense of happiness; it washed away all her pain and discomfort.
She had fought to have her children stay by her side regardless of her difficulties. Whenever she missed them, she knew she could see them anytime.
Life couldnât get any more perfect than this.
Perhaps this was why she insisted on keeping the kids hidden from Lysander.
Evelyn, who was just grumbling about Thalassaâs absence, instantly became concerned when she saw the wound. With a frown, she asked, âWhat happened? Was it because of that man again?â
âNo, mom, I was just being careless. Donât worry, itâll heal in a few days,â Thalassa reassured her and looked unconcerned about her facial wound.
Hearing her say this, Atticus and Dorian exchanged a look. Their silent communication spoke volumes.
Thalassa then led her children to the couch, âHave you been behaving well for Grandma these past few days?â
âYes, we have,â the kids chorused.
âYou donât have to worry about the children; you should worry about yourself. They are much more sensible than you,â Evelyn retorted as she rolled her eyes.
With that, she went off to prepare dinner.
Thalassa knew that her mother was just being her typical self. She had a soft heart despite of her harsh words. So she took her motherâs words lightly. After spending some time with her children, Thalassa went to help Evelyn in the kitchen.
Meanwhile, the children huddled together in their room, plotting their next move.
âMom has been hurt by Lysander again. We have to protect her.â Atticus declared.
Dorian nodded, âThatâs all because mom broke one of Lysanderâs antiques. We canât let him bully her.â
Elowen mumbled, âPoor mom⦠it hurts.â
Sophia clenched her tiny fists, her brows furrowed, âLetâs protect mom!â
Atticus devised a plan, âWe need to help mom pay back Lysander. Sophiaâs pendant sold for 200,000, and Elowenâs prize from the gourmet competition was 200,000. We only have 400,000 in total, we need more. We have to find ways to earn more money.â
Dorian gave a firm nod, âWe have to find ways to earn more money.â
âBut how?â Elowenâs wide eyes sparkled with anticipation. As a food lover, she didnât know how to handle the rest part.
Sophia furrowed her brow, also pondering the same problem.
