Turning around, a large shadow loomed behind her. Startled, she stumbled backward, her breath hitching in her chest.
Upon closer inspection, it was Lysander, his handsome face stern, his eyes deep and unreadable. He had appeared behind her without her noticing.
Thalassa clutched her chest, her breath coming in short gasps after the fright as she said, âYou move so silently, like a ghost. You scared the hell out of meâ¦â
âGuilty conscience?â Lysanderâs thin lips curled into a smirk.
Thalassa was baffled by his statement and asked, âWhat guilty conscience? I havenât done anything wrong.â
His gaze was more haunting than any ghostâs.
Feeling uncomfortable under his stare, Thalassa averted her eyes, âStop accusing me of wrongdoings.
Youâve framed me so many times without a shred of guilt.â
Lysander leaned towards her, his aura radiating danger. He asked, âI framed you?â
âYou accused me of stealing the circular pendant from the Royal Estates. When you found the missing one, you didnât even prove my innocence.â
âIs there any innocence left?â Lysanderâs gaze narrowed. His demeanor was icy yet wild.
Thalassa blushed at his suggestive words.
Was he implying that sort of innocence?
âDonât twist my words. Also, I didnât embezzle that billion dollars. Youâve been misunderstanding me, and you havenât shown any sign of remorse.â Lysanderâs imposing figure was intimidating, and unconsciously, she took a step back, feeling somehow safer.
She didnât understand why he accused her of embezzling and running away. After all, he was the one who transferred the money to her account.
Then she understood. Their son had embezzled a billion dollars from the Sinclair Group.
Both of them were oblivious to each otherâs suspicion. She thought the money was for buying her and their childrenâs freedom.
While he thought she had swindled the Sinclair Groupâs billion dollars and fled with their children.
No wonder he was so furious before.
Even after clearing up the misunderstanding, he showed no signs of remorse.
âWhat do you want me to do then? This?â Lysander stepped closer, suddenly grabbing Thalassaâs waist and lifting her off the ground.
âAh!â Thalassa screamed in shock, her body tipping forward. To avoid crashing into him, she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck to maintain her balance.
His grip was firm and assertive, as if he could break her delicate waist. His burning, hot hand seeped through her clothes, branding her skin.
His touch sent her into a state of high alert, her breath coming out in short gasps.
Her face brushed against his, and the rough stubble on his face scratched against her cheek, the masculine scent engulfing her.
His deep, rumbling breaths made her tense up, goosebumps prickling her skin.
âI didnât mean that, Lysander. Let me goâ¦â Thalassaâs heart pounded in her chest.
She struggled to get down, her hands pushing against his shoulders to lift her Body.
She slipped, and her upper body crashed back into his chest.
Her body was warm and soft, like a heated cloud, causing Lysander to grunt.
Lysanderâs eyes were unreadable, his voice a low growl, âIsnât your intention clear enough? Donât worry, Iâll satisfy youâ¦â
With that, he carried her to the bed, gently laying her down, his body pressing against hers.
