The car roared to life, taking off at a high speed.
Thalassa struggled to get up from her seat. Lysanderâs overpowering aura was freezing and daunting.
She moved closer to the window, trying her best to put some distance between them.
Her heart pounded in a panic, and her breaths came in quick, shallow gasps.
Lysander remained silent.
The atmosphere was palpably tense throughout the ride.
Soon enough, they arrived at the Sinclair Group International Hotel.
Lysander gripped Thalassaâs wrist tightly, leading her to the presidential suite, tossing her onto the bed, his imposing figure looming over her, trapping her.
Thalassa was pale with fear; she tried to back away, but there was nowhere left to retreat.
Lysanderâs rough hand gripped her chin, lifting her face and forcing her to look into his eyes. âSo, you want to spend my money to support your ungrateful father, huh?â His cold breath fanned across her face, piercingly cold, causing Thalassaâs breath to hitch. There was a sharp pain in her chest. She tried to speak, âItâs just Bruceâs ambition. I didnâtâ¦â
âReally now? Three million has already ended up in his pocket, and you still havenât satisfied his greed!
Thalassa, Iâve told you more than once that playing mind games with me comes with a price!â
Lysanderâs teeth clenched, his deep eyes icy and cold.
ââ¦â
âI donât want to hear your excuses! If youâve done it, you have to bear the consequences!â Lysander gritted his teeth, interrupting her.
In his eyes, her lies made her unworthy of his trust.
Everything she said was just to deceive him.
No other woman had dared to play mind games with him repeatedly.
With those words, Lysander harshly sealed her lips with his, drowning all her protests in their kiss.
âMmm, letâ¦â Thalassa felt his anger and struggled.
âRip!â Her clothes were torn apart, and her resistance only sparked his fury further.
Outside the window, tree shadows swayed, the sun gradually set, and night fell.
Inside, the bedside lamp swung violently as if the wind outside was forcing it to sway.
In the restaurant, Bruce was reduced to groaning on the floor, beaten to a pulp. His eyes were swollen shut, and his cheeks puffed out as if he had stuffed eggs in his mouth. He rolled around on the floor, whimpering from the pain, unable to muster the strength or will to stand.
All the bodyguards had retreated. Only the frightened Evelyn remained, with her back pressed against the wall.
Even after the bodyguards had left, she was still in shock. Her body was shivering, and she stared at the mess around her.
It took her a while to regain her composure. Looking at Bruce writhing on the floor, his pitiful state sent shock waves through Evelyn.
She slowly approached him, squatting down, nervously asking, âYouâre not going to die, are you?â
Bruce still had his wits about him. Recognizing Evelynâs voice, he stopped his painful writhing, panting heavily. His swollen eyes stared at Evelyn.
âI must be jinxed. The first time I met you and Thalassa, I was beaten up. And now, for the second time, Iâve been beaten up again. Maybe itâs because I owe you, and this is the way the universe is making me pay.â Bruce said, âIâm sorry for making you sufferâ¦
His words caused Evelynâs tears to flow uncontrollably.
