âYou damn jerk!â Evelyn cried, playfully swatting Bruceâs arm.
âOuchâ¦â Bruce winced, feeling a sharp sting from her hit.
âWhatâs wrong with you? Donât you dare die on me. Especially not in front of me,â Evelyn said. She tried to sound harsh, but her eyes were filled with worry.
âCall 911. I need to get to the hospital, or itâs curtains for me,â Bruce managed to gasp out, fighting through the pain.
âOkay, okay. Iâm calling right nowâ¦â Evelynâs fingers trembled as she dialed the emergency number on her phone.
Thalassa was tormented until the early hours of the morning, eventually succumbing to exhaustion and falling into a fitful sleep.
Lysander finally stopped. His eyes glowed in the darkness like a predatory animal, staring at Thalassaâs pale and weak face. He clenched his teeth, his jaw tight with suppressed anger.
He lit a cigarette, and the ember flickered in the dim room, reflecting the smoldering rage in Lysanderâs heart.
Several cigarettes later, he still couldnât quell the restlessness brewing within him.
As dawn approached, he left, leaving Thalassa alone.
When she woke up, it was past ten in the morning. She tried to get up, but the pain was as if she had been run over by a freight train. She stayed in bed, her tears soaking the pillow, wondering what she had done to deserve such torment.
At the Sinclair Group office, Lysander was handed a package by David.
âMr. Sinclair, your express mail. It arrived yesterday. Itâs a sealed document,â David said.
Lysander opened the package, and a card fell out. It was a bank card.
A note fell out from the document, and Lysander read the message, [I asked you for your bank account number before, but you didnât give it to me. So, Iâve given you my card. Thereâs a billion and ten million in there. Not a penny more, not a penny less. The password is six sixes. -Thalassa]
Lysanderâs expression darkened, his gaze falling on David, âWhen exactly did this package arrive?â
âYesterday afternoon, just before closing,â David replied promptly.
Lysanderâs brows furrowed. The package had been sent from the vicinity of Vibrant Oasis Residences.
According to the courierâs timeline, it had been sent yesterday morning.
That meant that before heâd âcaughtâ Thalassa and her family trying to spend his money, sheâd already mailed him the billion and ten million!
Back at the hotel room, Thalassa was startled awake by the sound of the door opening. Seeing Lysanderâs tall figure, she tensed up.
âWhy is he here again? What does he want?â Thalassa thought, her heart pounding.
The memories of the previous night, his relentless demands, and his lack of mercy were still fresh in her mind.
She braced herself as he approached, but she was exhausted and unable to move. All she could do was watch him warily.
âWhere do you feel a pain?â he asked, his deep voice filled with an unexpected gentleness.
