His kiss was no longer the domineering, wild passion of the night before. It was gentle, soothing, like a balm.
Thalassa felt her body went soft.
Lysanderâs large hand cradled the back of her head, holding her pliant body steady.
Kissing her sweet, yielding lips set his blood ablaze.
His hand started to move lower.
Suddenly, the piercing ring of a cell phone broke the silence.
It was Thalassaâs phone, vibrating in her pocket.
The cell phoneâs ring seemed deafening in the intimate, hushed space.
Startled, Thalassa opened her eyes wide. In front of her was Lysanderâs magnified handsome face. His skin was taut, and each pore was visible. His deep breaths fanned her face, moist kisses peppering her skin, his Adamâs apple bobbing.
At that moment, Thalassa was acutely aware of every detail of Lysanderâs kiss.
The charged atmosphere spread throughout the car.
The incessant ringing of the phone tore at Thalassaâs nerves.
Her heart pounded like a jackhammer, her breath hitching.
Thalassaâs hands trembled as she tried to push him away.
Sensing her feeble resistance, Lysander nipped at her lips in punishment.
The bite was just painful enough to serve as a lesson but not enough to draw blood.
âAhâ¦â Thalassaâs head spun, the pain making her frown, her discomfort growing.
Just when she thought she couldnât escape him, Lysander released her. His eyes were glistening as he watched her. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, his voice husky, âAnswer it.â
Thalassaâs eyes were misty, her breath shallow. She propped herself up on the car door, half-lying on the car seat in a vulnerable position.
Without time to collect herself, she quickly sat up straight, trying to regulate her breathing. She pulled out the phone from her pocket and saw the call was from an unknown number.
Under normal circumstances, Thalassa wouldnât have answered calls from unfamiliar numbers.
There were too many spam calls, and she didnât have the time to deal with them.
But at that time, it was different. Lysanderâs penetrating gaze was fixated on her.
If she didnât answer, it would have only made her look guilty.
Thalassa swallowed hard, suppressing her ragged breath, and slid to answer the call, âHelloâ¦â
Thalassa, you didnât forget you have work today, did you? I donât run things like Lysander. Donât let people think you got the job because of any connections,â came the teasing voice of Ethan from the other end of the line.
Thalassa paused, only then remembering she had been hired the day before to work for Ethan, Lysanderâs good friend.
She had even signed the contract.
That day was her first day.
Thalassa quickly glanced at Lysander, hurriedly replying, âIâll be right there.â
After hanging up, Thalassa looked at Lysander, âIt was work. I have to go now.â
Finally, she had a legitimate reason to leave.
As she was about to open the car door and step out, the door locked.
Surprised, Thalassa turned to stare at Lysander, âI really have to go to work!â
âSit tight,â Lysanderâs deep voice brooked no argument.
The next thing she knew, he was out of the car, sliding into the driverâs seat, and the car started moving.
Thalassa blinked in surprise. Surely Lysander wasnât actually driving her to work?
It wasnât until the car pulled up in front of Crawley Electronics that Thalassa dared to believe he was really taking her to work.
