Yesterday, he was harsh and cruel to her, but today, he seemed to have softened quite a bit.
What a fickle man!
Thalassa couldnât fathom his thoughts, nor did she have the energy to. She pushed open the car door and stepped out.
She didnât dare to head straight into the office. Instead, she stood by the car, thanked him, and watched respectfully as he drove away.
Only then did she proceed towards the office.
There were three people in the secretarial department of Crawley Electronics, including Thalassa.
The head secretary was a woman named Betty, who was in her early thirties. She was stylishly dressed and had a formidable presence.
Then there was Anna, a secretary who was about the same age as Thalassa. She had a softer demeanor and dressed more conservatively.
Thalassa had just started her job. After some brief introductions, she sat down at her computer to start her work.
âNewbie, get me a cup of coffee,â Betty ordered nonchalantly.
âSure,â Thalassa replied, promptly fetching her coffee.
âDarling, I have an important document to work on, and I canât spare the time, could you help me photocopy these files?â Anna asked, her voice gentle and friendly, and she handed Thalassa a thick stack of papers.
Her soft, amiable tone made it hard for anyone to refuse.
âSure, Iâll do it right away,â Thalassa agreed, taking the papers and heading to the copying room.
After completing some chores, she was once again summoned by Betty and Anna.
Thalassa remained silent, tirelessly helping them with their tasks.
It was her first day at work, after all, and she needed to adapt to the new environment.
Ethan appeared at the office door. He saw Thalassa making coffee, Betty casually admiring her freshly manicured nails, and Anna giggling at something on her phone.
âCough!â
Ethan cleared his throat.
Betty and Anna quickly turned around, stood up in surprise, and tried to hide their earlier actions, greeting Ethan respectfully.
âGood morning, Mr. Ethan,â they chorused.
Thalassa, having just poured the coffee, turned around and saw Ethan. She followed suit and greeted, âGood morning, Mr. Ethan.â
âI need someone to join me for a business meeting,â Ethan said.
âMr. Ethan, Iâve finished my tasks for the morning, and Iâm currently free,â Betty quickly volunteered, eager for the opportunity to spend more time with Ethan.
Anna, on the other hand, smiled sweetly and said, âMr. Ethan, donât you think my outfit today is more conservative and appropriate? I wonât embarrass you or give our clients the wrong impression.
Ethan glanced over them, his gaze finally resting on Thalassa. âYouâre all too gaudy. Thalassa, you come with me.â
With that, he turned and left the office..
Thalassa quickly followed him, feeling the envious gazes of Betty and Anna on her back, which made her feel incredibly awkward.
Once they were in the car, Thalassa asked, âI just started today, and Iâm not familiar with our business yet. Donât you think it would be better to take Betty or Anna since they have more experience?â
Ethan just smiled and said, âI could handle it on my own as well.â
