Lysanderâs gaze slid downward, settling on her posterior. âReally? I didnât notice anything amiss.â
Thalassaâs face flushed a deep crimson. She glanced nervously towards the front of the vehicle, worried that the driver had heard their exchange.
How mortifying!
Thankfully, as soon as theyâd entered the vehicle, Lysander had lowered the privacy partition, separating their space from the driverâs. The soundproofing was excellent, so the driver wouldnât be able to hear their conversation.
But Lysanderâs suggestive comments left Thalassa flustered. Everything about him was so serious, but sometimes the things he did truly surprised her.
âMr. Sinclair, can you please behave?â Thalassa reminded him as her face began feeling hot.
âWhatâs on your mind? Isnât this behaving? Would it be more appropriate if there was physical contact?â
Lysander turned her face towards his. His deep-set eyes were staring intensely at her. His face was stern, but there was a bit of mystery hidden within his ocean-like gaze.
Thalassa could feel the anger radiating off him. It felt as if she were a mouse that was trapped under the gaze of a large cat. Instead of simply eating her, he was playing with her and toying with her emotions.
âNo, thatâs not what I meant. Weâre in a car. I just want to sit quietly.â Thalassa said, feeling anxious and uneasy.
Yesterday, in his office, sheâd lost her temper and confronted him. She was still dealing with the consequences up till now.
Now, even if she felt wronged or angry, she wouldnât dare confront him directly.
Unless she was ready to face the consequences.
âReally? You didnât seem to mind bumping into people when you were walking with an umbrella earlier.â
Lysander said as his thumb gently caressed her chin. His rough touch was dangerously thrilling to her, slowly making her lose all rational thought.
His icy breath fanned her face, causing Thalassaâs heart to race.
So that was what he was angry about. She was right about his mood being off.
âIt was an accident. The umbrella wasnât that big, so we just happenedâ¦â Thalassa tried to explain, but she could feel her heart pounding through her chest. She was starting to lose focus.
âWe?â Lysanderâs voice was cold, and the rising inflection in his tone made his anger very clear.
âHe matters a lot to you, doesnât he?â Lysanderâs aura grew colder as he glared at her with his impenetrable eyes.
âNo, itâs not like that. I was just using âweâ as a quantifier.â Thalassaâs eyelashes fluttered, and her eyes flickered as she looked at Lysanderâs handsome face.
His face was so close to hers that it brought back memories of her humiliation from yesterday. She was afraid of experiencing it again.
âDo you know what a quantifier is?â Lysander asked, his face now even closer to hers. His cold breath tickled her ear, and his voice was dangerous and sharp. âI know your depth; you know my length. That are quantifiers. Understand?â
Thalassaâs face turned bright red. Her mind went blank, and her eyes widened in shame.
Lysander warned her. âIâll let it slide this time. If it happens again, you know what the consequences will be.â
With that, he released her and sat back, as if nothing had happened. However, even in this relaxed state, he was still imposing and intimidating.
Thalassa, meanwhile, felt as if her mind had exploded. She was breathless, and her heart was pounding. She couldnât calm down.
She realized then that if Lysander wanted to punish her, he didnât need to lay a hand on her. With just a few words, he could throw her off balance.
What could she possibly do to fight him?
Resistance was futile. The only way to survive was to submit.
The car came to a stop, and Thalassa realized they were at Royal Estates.
Why had Lysander brought her to Royal Estates?
