Hey there, Mr. Sinclair Thalassa greeted him with a forced smile.
As long as she wasnât the one feeling awkward, she didnât care who did.
Lysander glanced at his shoe, which now sported a foot-shaped imprint, and gazed at her with a cold stare. âIs this how you always greet people?â
Thalassa noticed the dirt smudge on his shoe, realized it was her fault, and quickly whipped out a rag from her waist while squatting down to clean it. âSorry, didnât mean to Let me get that for you.â
She used the same rag she used for cleaning tables to scrub his shoe, Lysander frowned. He was clearly not a fan of this.
After stepping away from her touch, he hissed, âGet out!â
âSure thing.â
Thalassa grabbed her mop and bolted out of the office If it werenât for the paycheck, she wouldnât be in his office.
And he told her to get out?
Lysander watched as she quickly retreated from his office, his gaze darkening.
In the afternoon, just as Thalassa was about to clock out, Hertha came looking for her.
Thalassa, I got off early today. Letâs hit the shopsâ Hertha looped her arm through Thalassaâs, leading her out of the Sinclair Group building.
Thalassa calculated her finances. She still had $800, and she hadnât yet bought winter clothes for the kids. So she agreed.
Just as they left the Sinclair Group building, a flashy silver Porsche pulled up next to them.
Thalassa and Hertha thought they were obstructing the carâs path and moved a bit to the side.
The Porscheâs window rolled down, revealing a hardsome man with long eyes and a tantalizing mole at the corner of his eye.
The man, Alaric, Ðashed a charming, devilish smile Thalassa, you just left the Sinclair group. I didnât see Lysander with you.â
Alaricâs voice was a bit weird, like something was wrong with his tongue, Thalassa instinctively tightened her grip on Herthaâs arm and said defensively, âI have nothing to do with Lysander. Why should I leave with him?â
Alaric, full of charm and mischief, chuckled. The other day at Sapphire Skyline, you were sitting on his lap and even cleaned up after him. And you say thereâs nothing between you? I bet you two are thick as thieves.â
His words were direct and made Thalassa blush She wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.
Lysander was a weirdo, and his friend was even worse!
How could he say such things in public?
âYou have no shame! Hertha, letâs go!â Thalassa, her face beet red, stormed off, dragging Hertha with her.
Hertha, however, didnât move.
Thalassa turned to find her friend staring at Alaric. Though she wasnât as besotted as she was the first time she saw him, her eyes were still filled with his reflection.
Her eyes sparkled with longing and affection, like those of lovers reunited after a long time.
This worried Thalassa.
Hertha was getting infatuated with men again.
Alaric didnât continue teasing Thalassa and Lysander. He noticed the look in Herthaâs eyes. It was the desire and eagerness to kiss him.
He wiped the smile off his face, rolled up the window to block her view, and parked the car Thalassa tugged at Herthaâs sleeve, âHertha, snap out of it. Heâs goneâ
Hertha finally looked away from the spot where Alaric had been. When she faced Thalassa, her face showed disappointment, but she put on a brave smile, âLetâs go.â
She flung the car door open, ready to hop in.
